Chapter 17:
The Outcast of the Mage's Association
“So you were a rich boy after all, good for you!” Tannie cheered.
“A prince? S-shouldn’t I have treated you with respect? How do you treat people like that?”
My mind went dizzy after Silca dropped the truth.
“Sis, just treat me the usual way, we are friends!” Silca stated firmly.
No Silca, you don’t get it.
How was I unable to feel that royalty energy in you? No wonder you were so reserved and looked otherworldly gorgeous. You are otherworldly! In the literal sense!
I gulped and looked at Silca. But at the sight of his determined look I crumbled.
Actually yeah!
Who cares if he is a prince? Why should I treat him differently now? Silca is just Silca after all.
“Say Silca, did you have a great time in this world even though those people chased you?” I asked.
“Meeting you and Tannie will be my greatest memory! As for the men…I don’t even know them, they just ran after me when the portal opened and since then they kept on chasing me."
“Well, don’t worry about that, I am sure Pointy ears swept the floor with them!” I replied as I patted his head.
“Looks like someone is missing Pointy ears?” Tannie said.
“What?! Who said I am missing him?! I just meant he is powerful enough to deal with those peasants! That’s all!” I yelled at Tannie.
“I get it, calm down. I was just joking, Mei!” he replied as I started stretching his cheeks.
“But I am sad now. I do want to go back home but that also means that we will never see each other again…” Silca’s voice wavered as he looked with glassy eyes in our direction.
I smiled at him.
“Look at it differently Silca! Be happy that we got to meet and that we were able to have so much fun together! Let this be the only memory you carry with you. It’s alright to be sad but just know,” I knelt down to look him straight in the eye.
“No matter how many worlds may separate us, what we have is precious and in your heart we will always live with you. We will always be there, just like how you will always be with us in our hearts.”
I pointed at my heart. Then I held his hand and placed it at his chest.
“That’s right little Silca and who knows what might happen in a few years? There might be a portal opening up or a mage that can teleport through worlds? Instead of wondering what will be, what about you tell us a little about your home?” Tannie added.
“My home? You mean Peiros? It’s similar to this world except the fact that the people there are flying. It’s like a kingdom in a cloud? We also have forests and all but it’s really cloudy all around the palace, the people use wind magic and water magic the most so it’s filled with water everywhere.”
“With water, how?” I asked.
“Imagine it running out everywhere – no matter where you go, you can always see the water. Canals are running over the roof of the houses, so the water gets transported from one canal to the next, with it all ultimately flowing into a huge waterfall right behind the central square. The buildings are golden and white. It’s really beautiful!” Silca explained.
“That’s true. It sounds mesmerizing,” Tannie said.
“A rather ethereal and majestic place, I would love to see that one day…” I replied.
“I-if there is a chance that there really is a portal or a mage capable of sending you there, even if it’s just a slim possibility then I,” he hugged me and Tannie tightly.
“Then I will wait for you two, even if it takes years. Even if it takes centuries.”
“Yeah, I am sure we will find a way for sure and then you have to show us the food spots, promise?”
“Promise!”
We laughed.
Then we continued to march toward the dandelion field.
I don’t remember how long we walked for.
Was it two hours or three? Maybe even four.
However time passed by far too quickly and just when I started to enjoy this journey, it actually came to an end.
“So this is the dandelion field we were searching for?” I asked.
In front of us, just like these two described, there were no more yellow but white colored seeds. They looked so fluffy and soft, you could say tender, as if they would fly away with just one touch.
“Come you two, we have to stay inside the field!” Silca said as he dragged me by the hand.
We stood in the middle of the endless dandelion field.
I watched Silca as he let go and stood proudly in front of me.
“Meilyn, Tannie, I dedicate this dance to you.”
Silca slowly raised his hand above, he turned in a swift manner, beautifully like fluid water he turned in the dandelion field and with every touch of his hand the flowers slowly started rising.
Crystalline waterdroplets levitated with the petals of the dandelions. The silver shining hair was loosened and now completely moving with every turn Silca made.
He drifted and dissolved from one posture into the next, as if reaching for the endless sky he held his fingers up, then slowly turned around and drifted into another position on the opposite side. With every step he took more of the flowers around us were illuminated.
The crystalline water swayed gently around with the breeze created from his moves until they all stood frozen in the air. Then with a snap they spun together and created a huge frame.
“How dreamy,” my voice faltered.
I felt my tears well up in my eyes, swiftly trying to wipe them away, with the sleeves of my shirt.
“You looked like a fairy, Silca,” I said.
Although I have never met one. I can imagine a fairy to look as gentle and ethereal as Silca’s dance.
He gently gazed into my eyes.
When I looked at the empty dandelion field I realized new flowers were rising from the ground. Their crimson colored presence even existed in the demon territory.
I knew those ethereal looking flowers.
“Spider Lilies!” I mumbled.
“That’s right, you know what they stand for right?” Silca said, still keeping his distance from us.
I gulped as I felt my tears flowing down my cheeks.
I forced a smile as I looked Silca in the eyes.
“A final goodbye.”
“Hm.” He replied, biting his lips tightly.
So it really is time to let him go.
I opened up my arms.
“I at least want a hug you know?”
“I know!” he said, smiling bitterly.
Then he sprinted toward me and leaped into my embrace.
I held him tightly.
I don’t know for how long.
Only after Tannie tapped my leg, I let go of Silca.
I raised Tannie from the ground, and Silca hugged him too.
Then he let go and looked at us.
“Thank you for everything! Thanks to you I finally gathered the courage to face my sister again.”
“Take care little Silca!” Tannie said.
I nodded at him.
As Silca stepped toward the portal he looked back for one more time.
“You are the best, show all of them what you got!” I yelled, clenching my fist in the air.
He smiled.
“I’m all charged up, I will do my best sis, Tannie!”
We waved him goodbye.
And with that Silca finally returned home, leaving behind his first friends in this world.
He disappeared with a radiant smile.
