Chapter 22:

Revenge, Confrontation, and Rush

Waifu Wars

We stood and stared at the window. The two waifus remained in the center of the arena with uninterested looks. They seemed like they didn't want to be there but had to for some reason.

The waifus didn't say anything as the crowd panicked. It soon became clear that the escape had been cut off. That realization stopped people from frantically trying to get out, but it didn't change the panicked look on their faces. Still, the two waifu's in the center weren't doing anything of interest. They probably didn't care what the crowd did at all.

"Well, we are locked in," Tanaka-san said from across the room. He was pushing on the door to our pod and had no luck in making it budge. Unless we could break it down, we weren't getting anywhere.

"What's going on out there?" Trash-chan's voice came over the speaker. She was still in the dugout area and likely could see everything that was going on.

"Waifus are causing trouble... but what is their aim...." Tanaka-san began to mutter to himself.

"Does it matter? We need to stop them!" Shin-san said as he whipped out his phone.

"Estouls! Don't just take a hit like that! Get up and kick some butt!" Osana-chan yelled.

Estouls was unconscious and still in the arena. Vicky must have hit him with a solid blow to knock him out so suddenly. I imagine she wanted to get back at him for what happened underground.

"Hello, Hello. Yes, it's me. The waifus- oh, you know? Well, what is the force doing?" Shin-san was talking to someone. "I see, is there anything I can do to help? No. All right." Shin-san hung up the phone.

"Who was that?" I asked.

"Akira from the security team. He says that he is currently trying to get into the field, but someone hijacked the barrier system."

"How did someone do that?" Tanaka-san asked.

"There is a master computer in the underground that controls the system.
He thinks that someone must physically be down there."

"There is someone down there!" We were interrupted by a certain ghost suddenly bursting through the floor. Shin-san and Tanaka-san were taken aback. Osana-chan looked like she wanted to scream but held it in.

"What is it, Kura?"

"Those troublesome waifus are down under the arena messing with the system!"

"There- There's a ghost!" Osana-chan said while backing away. I guess she and Estouls had a fear of ghosts in common. Shin-san looked confused more than anything, and Tanaka-san bounced back quickly.

"So, these waifus in the arena are a distraction, and the plan is being conducted underground?"

"Correct... you with glasses," Kura replied.

"It doesn't help us with anything knowing that. It's not like we can or need to do anything," I said.

I think I was about to get some objections, but they were interrupted by Trash-chan.

"Everyone... Estouls!" We turned to look out the window. Vicky had gotten bored of waiting and kicked Estouls across the field.

"Estouls!" Osana-chan yelled. For whatever reason, he was not teleported out of the field at the conclusion of the match. It had to be due to the interference but knowing that wouldn't help us. Tanaka-san frantically was tapping on his tablet to switch Estouls out, but nothing happened as he tapped. At this rate, we would have to helplessly watch Estouls get hit by a waifu with a grudge.

Hally, who had also not been teleported out, stood up on the other side of the arena. She climbed out of her crater with a slightly contorted form. With a couple of unnatural twists of her limbs, everything quickly was put back in its proper place. She moved her neck like she was cracking it.

Vicky paid no mind to the robotic waifu, but Kaeru faced her. Hally put up her fists, then turned away from Kaeru and ran. Even from a distance, I could see Kaeru laughing at the robot that fled away from her. I couldn't blame her. She was injured from the fight and was facing an opponent that had an advantage. Hally reached the wall of the arena and had to stop. Kaeru shrugged and began to walk up to the robot waifu slowly.

The next thing Hally did surprised me; she pulled back her fists and punched straight into the arena wall. It crumbled like a cracker when her fist made contact. Kaeru stopped while the wall opened up. On the other side of the wall was the dugout for Hally's team. The other three members of her group stepped out into the arena.

Kaeru took a step back after being faced with the four-member team looking at her. She pointed both her hands in the shape of finger guns at them. Before she could do anything, she froze so Antidoton could roll a die. The pink waifu looked upset by the roll.

Just then, Kaeru discharged two electrical shots at her opponents. One contacted Hally and another with Antidoton. The waifus were blown back into the dugout area, out of my view. They stood still for a few minutes, but it became clear that the waifus that had been hit were knocked out from the blow. Kaeru seemed to laugh again and aimed her next shots at Amplifier and Button.

Amplifier shook her head then released a loud soundwave. The arena shook, and Kaeru put her arms up defensively. The hit that the electrical waifu anticipated never came; instead Amplifier appeared suddenly on the other side of the arena. She pressed her palms against the wall, and a loud sound filled the air.

The wall collapsed, revealing the opposing team's dugout, our dugout. Trash-chan was the first out of the dugout. She charged and wrapped two trash whips around both of Vicky's arms. The vampire turned her attention from Estouls to the trash-tier waifu. Raphine was the next out. She shot several arrows at Kaeru, which just harmlessly zipped through the waifu as she took on an electrical form.

Junkers was the last out, but she stayed in the back. Whatever cooldown she had for her suit had not worn off.

"Shin-kun, Tai-kun, Ve can take care of the vaifus here."

"That's great!' Shin-san said.

Amplifier said something to Junkers, and Junkers pointed our way. The next second, Amplifier was crashing through the glass of our pod. We all jumped at the sudden surprise.

"Oh, Tai-kun. You're okay. Where's Emiko-chan?"

"Hey, no fair going to see Main-kun like that!" a voice rang over the speaker.

"My sister isn't here; she was in the crowd...."

Amplifier stepped to the edge of the broken window and looked out.

"Emiko-chan, are you still okay!" her voice suddenly echoed across the arena. Everyone in the crowd looked in our direction. My phone began to ring as a response.

"Hello," I said after picking it up.

"Big brother, are you with Amplifier."

"Ah, Emiko-chan. How are you? Are you okay?" Amplifier shouted while leaning in close to the phone.

"I'm fine, people were panicking for a moment, but they've calmed down."

"That's good to hear...." Amplifier let out a sigh of relief.

Another figure jumped up from the arena to our pod. Her green hair flowed frantically in every direction as she landed. She ran up and stood close to me.

"Main-kun!" she shouted.

"Oh, is Trash-chan there too?" my sister asked over the phone.

"Hello, Sister-sama!" I turned away from the waifus and walked close to the broken window. Out on the field, Button was currently engaging Kaeru, and Raphine was firing arrows at Vicky.

"Your safe, at least?" I asked my sister.

"Of course, these nice security guards are trapped in here with us!"

I didn't feel like asking, I already had an uncomfortable feeling in my stomach that told me the answer, but I did anyway:

"What security guards are you with?"

"Hello, Tai Juyo! It's me, Marigold. Oh, and Kioshi is here too!" the voice came through the phone.

I lowered the phone for a moment and shook my head in disappointment. I took a deep breath before lifting the phone and asking my next question.

"Shouldn't you two be working on catching these rogue waifus?"

"Of course... but some of us wanted to watch your match... then we got trapped."

"So, who is going to stop them? Shin-san made it sound like Akira was doing something."

"Oh, he is probably the only one outside of the stadium area right now. I think he went to the restroom right before the battle...."

"There is only one person who can stop these waifus?"

"Wait, big brother, you have Trash-chan and Amplifier there. Can't you go stop the bad waifus?" my sister interjected.

"Now dear, we can't have a civilian go fight some random waifus...."

"My brother can take care of them! Go get 'em."

"Dear sister, I can't just go fight some random enemies like that...."

"Sure, we can, Main-kun! It will be like during the draft!"

"Don't go putting my Tai-kun in danger like that, you joke of a waifu!"

A loud crash in the field caught our attention. We turned to look back to the fight. Raphine had been knocked across the arena into a wall and struggled to push herself up off the ground. Vicky had turned her attention to Junkers and was slowly walking over to the plane waifu.

"How long until her armor can come back?" Tanaka-san asked Shin-san.

"I have no idea...."

"What does your tablet say!"

"Oh, oh!" Shin-san pulled out his tablet and pulled up Junkers' profile. "She still has five minutes."

"That... is a long cooldown...." Tanaka-san muttered.

Raphine pushed herself off the ground and fired another arrow at Vicky. The vampire didn't even turn her attention to the raccoon girl, but she effortlessly caught the arrow out of the air, nonetheless. The arrow exploded into a ball of fire, but Vicky was unfazed.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the field, Kaeru was toying with her opponent. She lazily shot multiple electrical shots in a manner that would hit Button unless she dodged. The rabbit waifu was forced to dance around the arena to avoid even a single hit.

"Tai-kun, don't worry about us, just go on ahead and stop the others," A voice came over my earpiece. It was Estouls, who was only now pushing himself up off the ground.

"But..."

"Let's go Main-kun!" Trash-chan began to pull me to the door.

"The door is locked... anyway."

"We'll just break it down!"

I put my phone back up to my ear.

"Marigold, could you talk some sense into these waifus?"

"Sorry, big brother, she has already gone to try to assist the guy on the other side of the barrier with breaking through...."

"Of course, did she tell you how long it would be?"

"She said it would be a couple of hours at best...."

"Thanks, make sure you stay out of trouble there...." I hung up the phone and sighed.

At this rate, whatever plans that the opposing waifus had come up with would be carried out.

"If you can break down the door, we can try to help...." I said. I doubt Trash-chan had anything that would be useful for breaking down a door like that.

"I cannot condone this Tai-kun; that is why I will go with you as well," Amplifier declared as she walked over to the door.

"Amplifier, wait..."

She pressed her palm to the door. It began to shake until it violently exploded. We were free to go....

"Oh, I'll go with you too!" Kura happily said as she floated next to us.

I turned to the others. Tanaka-san gave me a smile and a thumbs-up, Shin-san made a nod of approval, and Osana-chan gave an innocent smile.

"Go take care of what you have to, Juyo-san."

"We will hold the front here, Tai-san."

"And don't worry, because Estouls will kick all their butts!"

They were encouraging me to rush out. I did my best to smile back out at them before rushing out the door.

It wasn't until later when I was told the rest of the details of the fight.

Estouls managed to get the strength to stand back up. He immediately caught Vicky's attention. She turned and charged at him with as much force as she could muster. It was apparent that she would try to tackle Estouls against the wall, but he managed to slide to his left enough to avoid the blow. She ended up plowing into the wall instead.

Raphine took the opportunity to fire off several more arrows. They encased Vicky in a large block of ice. She easily shattered it and turned to her opponents.

On the other side of the field, Button was still trying to avoid electrical discharges. She quickly outpaced Kaeru, but she could not close the distance between them enough to get a good counterattack in. Kaeru kept firing shots at her opponent with no apparent concern for winning the fight any time soon.

Raphine fired a couple of shots at Kaeru as well. The electrical waifu was not paying attention, and the arrows exploded upon reaching her. The smoke cleared quickly, revealing Kaeru focusing her full attention on the raccoon waifu. Raphine's ears fell flat for a moment as her opponent locked in on her.

Kaeru was across the field in a flash. Raphine barely managed to duck as the electrical waifu swiped at her opponent. Her hand, crackling with electricity, passed just above Raphine's ears. She drew back her bow and fired another arrow at Kaeru, but the arrow just flew through. Kaeru looked down at her opponent with an uncomfortably friendly smile.

Meanwhile, Button came flying across the field. She gave a dropkick to Kaeru in the back. The electrical waifu was stunned as the kick sent her into the wall of the arena. Her body exploded into electricity as it crashed into the wall, then it reformed back into the form of a waifu. She shook her head for a moment before stepping forward to her opponents.

Vicky and Estouls continued to fight it out on the other side of the arena. Vicky would try to get a blow in, which Estouls would avoid or block. Then, Estouls would try to get a blow in, which Vicky would avoid or block. They had faced each other several times and were both cautious as they fought.

Vicky leaped in the air and tried to smash Estouls in the ground. Estouls just rolled across the ground out of the way. The vampire harmlessly crashed the ground. She stood up slowly and prepared to strike her opponent again.

Junkers was anxiously waiting for her mecha suit to return as she watched the fight taking place.

"How much longer, Shin-kun?"

"Um, just a few more seconds."

She continued to turn back and forth to each of the fights taking place as she waited.

Finally, her armor was restored, and she took to the sky. The sudden sounds of a plane caught the attention of the others, but no one had the opportunity to look away from their fights. Junkers took advantage of that and began raining down bullets on Vicky.

She put her arms up defensively as the plane waifu made a pass overhead. Estouls took the chance to strike immediately after Junkers finished her pass. He tackled the vampire waifu with his shield. She stumbled back from the blow. Junkers was right on top of the next move as she fired another barrage at Vicky. After she finished her pass, Estouls hit her with another blow. The vampire stumbled back for a moment and froze. Estouls watched carefully until she fell straight onto her back.

The raccoon waifu and rabbit waifu continued to avoid the electrical strikes of their opponent. Even though they avoided getting hit, they could not find an opening to get in a counterattack. Kaeru finally hit both Raphine and Button with a jolt of electricity. The two waifus were knocked out cold in an instant.

The knockouts of Vicky, Raphine, and Button happened about at the same time. Kaeru turned her attention to her new opponents. She tried firing a jolt at Estouls, but his shield just absorbed the blow. Junkers attempted to fire a volley at the electrical waifu, but the bullets did not affect.

Kaeru pointed her finger gun at Junkers and released a massive discharge. The shot hit the plane waifu's armor, and an explosion came from the side. Junkers began to spin out of control until she crashed on the other side of the field. She pushed the flaming fuselage aside and stepped out with a disappointed look.

"I just got that back," the team heard her say over the speaker.

Estouls began to walk to the electrical waifu. She fired a shot at him, but his shield absorbed the blast. She fired another, and again it was absorbed. She put her hand down and sighed. Then she put both her hands up. She had decided she wouldn't win the fight.

The fight in the arena ended, but the group of us that had left still had plenty to do before the whole ordeal was over.

Kura quickly took the lead of our little group. She had declared that she knew which way to go, so we just silently chased after the ghost waifu as she floated ahead of us.

At least, I wish we were chasing silently. I ran just behind Kura; meanwhile, the other two ran behind me, arguing the whole way.

"Why would you even come along?" Trash-chan asked.

"I told you already; I will make sure no harm falls on my Tai-kun."

We turned a corner and began to go down a flight of stairs while they still bickered.

"You're not even his waifu anymore; I will make sure Main-kun is left out of harm's way!"

"I couldn't trust a waifu like you to keep him safe."

"A waifu like me beat you twice."

"That first fight had interference; we ended it in a tie!"

Kura flew through a door ahead of us as we ran to keep up. She popped her head back through and waved her arm to me as if to say, 'hurry up.'

I stopped at the door and quickly pulled it forward. It opened to a long narrow staircase that stretched down far beyond what the eye could see.

"Next time we fight, I'll win!"

"Oh, do you want to throw down right here and see if that is right?"

"Stop, you two; we're about to go into enemy territory."

The two bickering waifus stopped arguing and turned away from each other. I would take what I could get.

We descended into the depths. The exit was somewhere in the arena's underground labyrinth, though I didn't recognize it. Still, Kura confidently led the way. We continued to chase after her as she confidently flew ahead.

"At least there are no traps," I said aloud.

"They are still disabled from when we were down here last time. Either they are confident or forgot to reactivate them," Kura answered.

"Even if there were traps, they would be no match for the likes of us!" Trash-chan said confidently.

"The trash waifu might be right about that... for once...."

I didn't bother looking back at the two, but I felt like they were probably glaring at each other.

"How are you so sure they are this way," I decided to ask Kura.

"My scouting before led me right to them!" she answered. She didn't seem to want to give me anything more to go on as she flew ahead. I decided not to press the matter any further.

It wasn't long before we reached a large door. It was wide and looked like something that would open by lifting from the bottom, such as a garage door. Kura pointed to it and nodded.

"What?" I asked, not entirely understanding what she was trying to convey.

"Beyond that door is where our opponents are."

"I see."

"They are that way? Let's go kick some butt!" Trash-chan began to walk forward confidently. She stopped at the door and began to look all around. "How do you open this?"

"You have to push the button on the wall that is on the other side. You go through that doorway over there to get to it." Kura pointed at another door that was on a far wall.

"In that case, why don't we all just go in that way?" I asked.

"We could, but it would be more of a dramatic moment if you ran in and struggled against the waifus for a moment before finally pushing the button to reveal your backup!" Kura said with a smile.

"When we are done here, I'll introduce you to some of my friends; I think you would get along." I began walking to the door and waved for the others to follow. "Come on, we will all go in that way," I said, pointing to the normal door. We entered and twisted around a small hallway. The space opened into a vast expanse of a room. A large computer monitor took up a large stretch of the wall. In front of it was an equally large desk, and computer terminals were lined throughout the room. Everything was connected haphazardly with wires that scattered throughout the room as certain trip hazards.

Across the room by the monitor, there were some familiar faces. Chemist-chan and Jefischa. In addition, there were two other familiar faces, Kalen and—

"Dad?" I said aloud. The surprise was something else. There was my dad standing in front of the keyboard. He wore a pair of denim shorts and a loose white tee shirt. On his feet, he had sandals with socks underneath, and the top of his head was slightly balding. I hadn't seen him for years, yet he hadn't changed one bit.

"Oh, hey, son! Did you come to rescue your old man from the clutches of these rogue waifus? He said after turning around and looking in my direction. He had a beaming smile on his face.

"Uh, no... what are you even doing here?"

"Oh, they needed someone to hack this computer, and they seemed to think I was the best man for the job."

"Enough talking Jupiter Juyo." Kalen interrupted and stepped forward. My dad sighed. He pulled an ax off the desk and proceeded to drive it into the monitor. The glass exploded all around.

"It's done anyway. You said you wouldn't harm any of my family." He said firmly to Kalen. She brushed some broken glass off her arm.

"Was that necessary?" she asked.

"Even under duress, I do my job fully."

"I think Kalen's point was that you only hacked the monitor. The computer is over there," Jefischa added.

"I'm surrounded by idiots...." Kalen muttered to herself, "Tai Juyo, you did well to come all this way!" She suddenly turned her attention to me and tried to change the subject. "You may want to take your father back, but I'm afraid I still have a use for him!"

"I had no idea he was here...."

"That's true; he probably had no idea."

Kalen just sighed. She shook her head and her shoulders as if to collect herself.

"Jupiter Juyo, it is about time that you show yourself the door."

My dad wasn't given a chance to respond. Jefischa quickly put her hand on his shoulder. He suddenly turned to a form like stained glass and shattered.

"Does that count as 'showing him the door'? It was more like showing him the window." Trash-chan asked.

"Don't let him rub off on you, please," I groaned.

The space suddenly began to shake. It was safe to assume that the whole arena was shaking as a response. I looked around as if I would find some answer, but the waifus remained unfazed.

Then the shaking stopped as suddenly as it began.

"It seems that everything is in place now," Kalen mused as she looked off in the distance.

Do I even dare to ask?

"What's in place now!" Trash-chan went ahead and asked anyway.

"Trash-chan, don't go provoking her. The last thing we want to do is sit through a monologue!" However, it was already too late.

"Well, I'm glad you asked my dear Trash waifu. You see, this world has become polluted-"

"Just cut to the evil scheme, please." I interrupted.

"Evil? No Tai Juyo, I have a noble goal—to purge this world of waifus!"

"You fiend, why would you want to do that!" Trash-chan gasped.

"Well, I was in the middle of explaining it when Tai Juyo interrupted me... shall I go back and explain?"

"Please don't, how will you accomplish your scheme, in 6 words or less please." I had no patience for any of this.

"You're just as bad as your father... At the top, I will begin a program that will spell the end of waifus!"

That was certainly more than six words, but I didn't expect her to listen to me. Amplifier and Trash-chan were already taking steps to Kalen.

"You don't think we would let you win!" Amplifier said with confidence. Kalen smiled.

"But I already have."

She suddenly shattered along with Jefischa. Chemist-chan took a step forward to face us.

I suppose we have to fight this one...." Amplifier said softly. As if to respond, several spears of water suddenly shot past the sound waifu with alarming speed. They crashed into the computer network behind us, shattering the hard drives as a result. At a glance, it might have seemed like Chemist-chan missed, but her confident look made it clear the computers were her actual targets.

Amplifier didn't wait for a follow-up attack. She burst forward and plunged and accelerated palm into Chemist-chan's stomach. The chemical waifu was thrown back and crashed into the already shattered monitor. She jumped to her feet as if the attack didn't phase her and smashed the keyboard by the monitor in two with a heavy stomp, most likely just for good measure.

"Tch," Amplifier said as she put up her fists. Chemist-chan just threw out a beaker that smashed onto the ground. A purple haze began to spew out from where the beaker landed.

"It's a fairly toxic poison. You might want to get out of here before the room is filled..." Chemist-chan said nonchalantly.

Amplifier took a step back, but Trash-chan leaped forward. She reached out her hand to the growing cloud. Upon touching the poison, it disappeared into her recycling bin. A trash-whip appeared in her hand, and she looked at Chemist-chan with a smile.

Chemist-chan tried a couple more spears of water and then a lit ball of fire. Trash-chan just pulled the attacks into her recycling bin. The scientist waifu bit her lower lip as the trash-tier waifu snapped her whip in the air. The whip wrapped around Chemist-chan's arms and legs. She was fully restrained.

However, she had not given up. The trash-whip began to melt, and Chemist-chan burst free. Amplifier did not give her a chance to do anything else. The sound waifu was quickly next to Chemist-chan. She cupped her hands around one of the scientist's waifus ears. A few seconds later, Chemist-chan was thrown several meters across the room. She caught herself in a shaky landing on her feet before she hit the hard ground, but she soon tumbled down as she fell unconscious.

I let out a sigh of relief.

"What should we do now?" Trash-chan asked as she looked back my way.

"No idea."

"She mentioned something!" Kura added as she began to float around the room.

"I guess we should go back up and figure out what we want to do next?" I said. I wasn't sure what else we could do. Surely this has already gotten the attention of many other people.

"Ah! Tai!" The ghost waifu suddenly exclaimed while pointing at the broken keyboard.

"What is it?" I asked while making my way across the room. She didn't answer, and instead, let me see for myself once I got close enough. In the shattered keyboard, there was a key. It appeared to be the kind of key you would see for a locker, and it had a circular keychain with the number 25 on it.

"Damn, Dad." I brushed away parts of the keyboard and picked up the key.

"Do you think that is the key?" Kura asked with a smile that told me she already knew the answer.

"What key?" Amplifier asked. Trash-chan nodded to indicate she didn't know what was going on as well.

"It's a key to a local water park locker! His father hid something in it!"

"And he's the only one that knows what it is, huh?"

"You are correct!"

I sighed.

"Well, let's get going, Main-kun!"

"Lets... just go back up." I said with a sigh."

I began my walk out of the room before any of the other waifus could respond.

We emerged from underneath the arena in a random hallway. It was empty and eerily quiet. I didn't bother breaking the silence as I began to walk back to the pod. I needed to check up on the others to make sure everything was alright.

We got back in no time. Only Tanaka-san and Raphine were waiting inside.

"Juyo-san, you're okay!" He shouted with delight upon seeing me. I looked around the empty room. Then I looked out at the stadium. My jaw may have dropped.

The entire arena was gone. In its place was just a giant space where the stadium had once been. The round hole seemed to stretch down as far as the eye could see.

"Where..."

Tanaka-san already knew what I was going to say. He walked over to the shattered window and pointed up. I hesitated a moment before walking over as well.

A giant shape was floating high up in the sky. It looked almost like it could be a UFO that little green men pilot from where we stood. Upon squinting my eyes and taking a closer look, it became clear that what I was looking at was the missing section of the arena.

It had suddenly floated up in the sky and slowly changed its shape from an open arena to a flying saucer.

"Everyone is in there...." Tanaka-san said before I could ask my next question.

Trash-chan ran up to the window as well, but she didn't have anything to say as she stared at the flying object.

"Where are Shin-san and Osana-chan?" I finally asked while looking at Tanaka-san.

"Shin-san went to meet up with Akira... Osana-chan didn't want Estouls to get taken away and jumped into the arena as it took off...."

I looked back at the flying section of the arena. This was way more than I should be able to handle.

"Let's go save them, Main-kun!"

As expected, Trash-chan was gung-ho and ready to go. Usually, I might want to argue with her, but everyone was being held up in the sky: my sister, the Naka family, Osana-chan, Junkers, Estouls, Raphine, and everyone else. I wasn't going to do nothing. The question was how we would get up there.

"Tai! What your dad left in the locker might help you!" Kura suggested as if she was reading my mind. It was a long shot, but it was all we had at this point.

I took another look at the key we had picked up. Kura had said it should be a locker in a local waterpark. There were two in the city that were the closest in proximity—'Waifu Splash' and 'The Waterpark That Was Built by a Guy Who Would Rather Be Writing Light Novels.'

We had gone to Waifu Splash several times when we were younger. The Light Novel Waterpark was only opened a year before we lost Amplifier. If I had to make a guess, my dad would pick the one he and I were most familiar with.

"We will head to the waterpark...." I tried to sound confident, but my voice trailed off at the end.

"What waterpark?" I was asked in unison. Only Kura had any idea of what was going on. I rubbed the back of my head. I might not have time to explain fully.

"My dad left me something in a locker; it might help." I held up the key as I explained. Tanaka-san just nodded.

"Jupiter-kun did that?" Amplifier asked.

"I see! Well, let's get going!" Trash-chan shouted.

"I'll stay here and find Naka-san; someone needs to fill him in," Tanaka-san said.

I nodded in agreement.

"I'll fly up there and make sure everyone is okay!" Kura said.

I hadn't thought of it, but that seemed like something she would be able to do. I nodded to agree.

We split up. Kura began her ascent to the arena section, Tanaka-san ran down the hallway one way, and Trash-chan and Amplifier followed me in the other direction.

We were out of the arena in no time. A large crowd greeted us in the shopping area staring at the section of the arena in the sky. Some were recording on their phones, some just pointed and talked frantically to each other, and others seemed like they didn't know what to think.

We pushed through the crowd to the open street. A taxi driver was one of the many that stared at the group.

"Excuse me, could you take us to Waifu Splash Waterpark?"

"What are you thinking? Now is not the time for that!" the driver spat back before continuing to stare at the floating section. I turned to look. It had continued to change shape slowly and was now resembling the shape of a cube. I don't know what the final form would be, but I didn't want to wait and see.

I looked around some more until my eyes settled on someone holding a bike. We didn't seem to have many other options right now.

"Excuse me, could I borrow your bike?"

"Huh, sure, whatever." The guy quickly parted with his bike. It was honestly too easy, but I guess the shock of what was going on made him not think everything through.

I grabbed the bike and looked at the two waifus that accompanied me. How were we going to do this?

As if answering my question before I could ask it, Trash-chan hopped on the bike and gestured for me to climb on behind her.

"What about me?" Amplifier exclaimed. Trash-chan just pulled down under her eye and stuck her tongue out at Amplifier. The sound waifu's hands balled into fists, but she took a deep breath before doing anything else.

"Get a head start without me, Tai-kun; I will catch up in no time."

I didn't put up an argument as I climbed on the bike. She could probably catch up quickly enough.

"Hang on, Main-kun," Trash-chan said as she lifted her feet of the ground and set them on the petals. She had a good sense of balance to not fall over with both of us on here. I grabbed onto the bike, and Trash-chan took off.

I think I might have yelled out as she began to move. It came as a shock as we suddenly began moving at an incredible speed from practically nothing before. I felt my fingers begin to slip off the bike and grabbed Trash-chan's shoulder to hang on better.

"Too fast... Trash-chan," I said, but I think the sound of the wind overpowered any sound I could make. I was not sure how fast we were moving, but she was not wasting any time.

Some sirens began to sound off behind us. I turned around to see a police car chasing after us.

"You on the bike, double riding is illegal!" An officer from the passenger seat yelled out into a megaphone. The officer looked at the driver, who was saying something, before turning back to us. "Also, you are speeding."

Of all the things to be worried about. I let go with one hand and pointed to the flying portion of the arena that quickly appeared smaller while Trash-chan furiously kicked the petals. It felt as though I would slip, so I promptly grabbed back onto Trash-chan's shoulder before I went flying off the bike.

"You two really should be wearing helmets too," was all the officer responded with.

"Don't worry, Main-kun, I'll get them off our trail," Trash-chan yelled loud enough for me to hear. I had a feeling I wouldn't like her plan.

Sure enough, I found myself screaming as Trash-chan quickly maneuvered her bike across the road into oncoming traffic.

She gracefully dodged several oncoming cars as they blared their horns at us. The police car continued following on the other side of the road and could not follow as Trash-chan quickly petaled down an alleyway. She guided the bike up a large plank of wood resting on a dumpster, and we became airborne.

We flew over a fence in the alley and landed on the road at the other end. Trash-chan quickly took off in the direction of the waterpark. We sped down more streets without too much issue until the Waifu Splash part came into view.

Trash-chan turned her bike to the side and slid to a stop in front of the entrance. I carefully stepped off and stumbled. I had not realized, but my legs were a bit shaky. Trash-chan caught me before I could fall over, and I regained my composure. We ran up to the gate.

The waterpark employees were shinobi waifus that worked here part-time, and several of them were standing out front staring at the section of the arena floating in the sky.

It had started to take the shape of a simple house with a square bottom and a triangular top. I shook my head and turned to one of the shinobi waifus. She had brown hair tied into a ponytail with a red ribbon.

"Could we go into the park?"

She looked at me, then at Trash-chan, and finally back to me.

"Why?" she finally asked.

"Um, apparently, there is something in a locker for me...." I told her.

The waifu looked to her shinobi companions. They shrugged.

"Sure, go on in..." the shinobi waifu held out her hand to indicate I could enter. Trash-chan and I walked through the gate.

The lockers were not far from the gate, and we found our target in no time. I slowly pushed the key into the lock and turned it. I gulped then opened the door with a quick swing. The door banged against the others with a loud clang. Inside the locker was a single composition notebook. I slowly pulled it out and sat down on a nearby bench. I set the book on my lap and wrapped my fingers around the front cover in preparation to pull it open.

"What does it say, Main-kun?" Trash-chan asked while leaning over my shoulder to look.

"Yes, I am a bit interested too," the shinobi waifu from the gate said while leaning over my other shoulder.

I jumped up and backed away from the shinobi.

"You followed us?" I shouted in surprise.

"Yes?"

"I didn't even realize!" Trash-chan said in shock.

"Of course, I wouldn't be much of a shinobi otherwise. That aside, what does it say in that book?"

I cracked open the book and looked at what was written in it.

Hey son! How have you been? I've been doing alright....

My father's handwriting lined the pages of the notebook. It seemed like the first page was more of an introduction. Knowing my father, most of this was probably just fluff. I began to flip through and skim for what I needed quickly.

If you're reading this and there isn't a giant structure floating in the sky, congratulations, you still have time....

After I left that night, I started work at a satisfactory; we made products that were just okay....

I was invited to work at the waifu labs....

Then we got a new head of the labs named Kalen....

The experiments were a success of sorts, and we were introduced to a waifu named Trash-chan....

Stop skipping ahead and read this properly, son....

I have discovered an evil plan going on....

I managed to get Trash-chan out of the lab; she should find you soon and fill you in....

I have marked the date of Kalen's master plan on my calendar; as I stare at it, I realize that the days are numbered....

She will plan to launch a program that will rewrite all waifus as we know them....

If the arena has already taken to the sky, you don't have much time left....

So anyway, just fly up there and take the enemy out!

I shut the book and sighed. I now had some idea of what was going on, but I had no idea what we were supposed to do now. Fly up there; how did he expect us to do that?

"That doesn't seem good. Do you need any help?" The shinobi asked me.

"No, unless you have a way to fly," I said quietly.

She clapped her hands together and made a sweet smile. It kind of scared me.

"I might have an idea."

The shinobi led us through the park and then out past where guests typically go. She pushed open the door to a warehouse revealing a giant cannon. I looked at the cannon, then at the shinobi. With a shake of my head, I began to pull Trash-chan away.

"No, but thank you anyway."

"Wait!" The shinobi was suddenly in front of us. She tapped her index fingers together. "You see, this is a special attraction that was under development. It is a high-capacity water cannon that could launch guests across the park.... We could never make the landings safe enough, but I guarantee it can fire you to that floating object with ease!"

"Yes, but how would we land?"

"I'm sure I would figure that part out, Main-kun!"

"I admire your optimism, Trash-chan."

"How else are we going to get up there in a hurry, Main-kun? Everyone we know that can fly is already up there!"

I sighed and rubbed my hand through my hair. We did have no time; if there was some evil plot, we should stop. There might be a better way, but I suppose this would do for now. I reluctantly nodded in agreement.

The next thing I knew, I was being strapped into a transparent sphere with Trash-chan and being loaded into the barrel of the cannon. The sphere appeared to be made of clear plastic and housed a clear bench for us to sit on. Some seatbelts with easy to open buckles were strapped around us, and the bench had a red lever in the center.

"When we fire you, wait ten seconds, then pull the lever. It will release the pod and allow you to fly through the air more freely!" The shinobi yelled down the barrel to us as we came to a gentle stop.

Water suddenly filled the cannon barrel. I held my breath instinctively but let it out when I remembered we were inside the sphere. I heard a rushing sound begin behind me. At the same time, the cannon began to roll forward. From outside the barrel, I saw the shinobi saluting us as it rolled by her. Then, all I saw was the clear sky as the barrel exited the building.

The rushing sound grew louder and louder until it was all around me. It took me a minute to realize, but we had just been shot out of the cannon. The water that surrounded us broke apart into droplets, and the flying structure came into view. It appeared as if we were in a crash collision with it, which I guess was the point.

The structure came upon us quickly. It had taken a new shape since I last saw it. Now, it looked like a giant castle floating in the air. Perhaps it was already on the way to its final form. Did that mean we did not have much time left?

I did not get much more time to think. Trash-chan quickly pulled the lever, and the sphere suddenly burst apart. The plastic-looking pieces and safety harnesses flew behind us as we continued to fly forward.

We continued to approach, and we would not have much more time to think. Trash-chan quickly grabbed me and pulled me on her back. I didn't resist but had no idea what she had in mind. Suddenly, garbage began to spin around us as it did before the Trash Wave.

Trash-chan released the wave directly at the castle as we came in for impact. The sheer force of her wave smashed the wall of the castle open, and we flew inside a long hallway. Trash-chan maneuvered her feet so that they were the first thing to touch the floor. She made contact and began to slide down the hall while continuing to stand upright. I held onto her for dear life as the friction between her feet and the floor made a loud, unpleasant sound.

We finally came to a stop just before running into a closed-door in the castle. I weakly fell to the ground and took a minute to catch my breath. Looking back at where we had just come from, all I could see were two long skid marks from where she slid on the floor.

The door we stopped in front of suddenly burst open. A waifu in black clothes and covered with all sorts of clocks stepped out. She had an unpleasant look on her face as she looked at Trash-chan and the skid marks.

"Trash-chan, of course, it had to be you," the new waifu muttered.

"Timekeeper, good to see you again! How did you know we were here?"

"Do you realize how much noise you made? The whole castle could practically hear you!" The waifu called Timekeeper lost her composure and yelled at Trash-chan.

"I take it you know this waifu, is she a friend or foe?" I asked while standing up. The waifu with the clocks was suddenly in front of me.

"Foe," she answered before pushing me back against a wall. I crashed into it while Trash-chan called out to me.

Timekeeper was suddenly behind Trash-chan and pulling her side ponytail.

"Now, should we continue where we left off?" she asked Trash-chan.
