Chapter 1:

Mayvin

Code: SIN

Different sights of the cities landscapes are shown

Narration: [Freya, a large city with a high population. The growth of the city over the decades has led to its expansion making it plentiful with the room, enough for all. The population, the police that protect them to keep order…and just as well several gangs. Although many would prefer the term Mafia. With an area on the outskirts within the city-owned by respective families, the East domain of the Sleeping wolves, the largest of the territories. Yet the sizable gift from the government came with the price of being the home for the financially unfortunate. The sleeping wolves have a single leader but in their stead, four people are chosen to lead and direct not only the family but as well to hold firm on their grounds.30 years ago. That night changed humanity by a sudden unexplained change in a small percentage of mankind. Many and their children live a life without undergoing the change as there is no known way to tell if someone will change or not. This night left a fraction of the world’s population capable of physically enhanced feats. Today these people have become known as “Alpha”. Awakening in some is random, some young, some old. On the Azure night, it became apparent all who Awaken however are not so lucky due to the large chance that the victim will suffer a loss of sanity and become feral, attacking any insight. The Azure night was a great awakening for humanity but also responsible for its great decline with millions dead from the awakening of the feral creatures. The ones who do make it through are commonly physically stronger but other physical enhancements are noted to possibly occur. Many today however treat them like monsters, some going into hiding, some attempting revenge. Some try to live a life without hate and violence. They even walk the streets hidden amongst the common people.}

Two young men stood, leaning against a luminescent building on a busy night strip. The streets and the surrounding district lit up from the surrounding buildings in the dark. The black-haired male held a sucker in his mouth and his blonde companion looked near their breaking point of boredom.

Blonde Haired Male: “Zayne, I don’t think they’re coming, man…”

Zayne/Black-Haired Male: “He’ll come to Nikolai…or at least he should…”

Zayne Mayvin, 25. Zayne furrowed his brow in anger at the thought of the person failing to show. Not many people were driving on the streets but at night the city was as busy as the day with many people walking about.

Zayne: “Well, Boss said Mare and his boys have been acting weird, strange they say. So we gotta go check the place out”

Nikolai:“Street jobs for street punks! Haha!”

Nikolai Veras, 23. The blond-haired male Nikolai laughed at his own humor, his oddities bringing a smile to Zayne as well.

Zayne: “Street punks huh? Well you’re not wrong”

Nikolai: “Don’t just accept it!”

Nikolai said with excitement, gaining a smug look on his face in the process. Knowing Zayne had caught his use of “strange” and “weird”.

“One day we won’t be street punks anymore Zayne.”

“That’s about sixty percent of the Wolves…”

“Yeah yeah and barely anybody makes it up top unless you’re already there. But we can change things, man!”

“Hm. More money, more-“

“-More women!”

Nikolai finished for Zayne, tossing his arm into the air as if he were at a celebration. Zayne along with other passing civilians gazed at Nikolai in their passing. Noticing how he just drew everyone’s attention, Nikolai brought his hand down into a fist in front of his face, having no regrets speaking his wishes...

“Heh, of course, more women will always be nice. It’s like basic for a man’s dream life one way or another. Some are just less moral about their reasons.”

Zayne responded, nudging his friend playfully with a smile on his face. Their attention would be caught from their chuckling and shift to several shadows in front of them. Looking up was a group of five standing in front of them. Three girls and two guys. These young adults gathered in front of the two friends. One male stepped forward with Nikolai making a step forward also

“Jesse!”

“Nick glad I ran into ya out here!”

“Oh?”

Nikolai questioned with a devilish smirk on his face. The male, Jesse, continued.

“See me and my friend here found these two girls, though we’d treat them out. They’re from Central of course heh heh!”

“Ah. Spoiled daughters then. My my, I see you have quite the eye for high standards my friend! You guys dating any of them?”

Nikolai said, glancing over to the two girls, their hair fine as silk. Their pretty faces brought a smile to Nikolai. With their clothes and jewelry, it was easy to tell they were from one of the more respected areas in the city. His eyes peered at them from head to toe, deciding then to go back to looking toward Jesse and his friend.

Jesse: “Nope. I was just over in central. They have the best mall and the safest area as far as crime goes. Fewer muggers, less violence, and the police keep high security in their dominion. Unlike you two I don’t enjoy feeling like my life is in danger every second of the day.”

Nikolai: “Hey! It’s not like we like the danger….Ok, maybe we like it just a little hehe. Eh, anyway I’m not on the clock right now but special gifts call for special prices eh?”

With a smirk, Jesse pulled out several bills from his wallet and folded them into his hand. The two shook hands. In one hand money, the other a small red bag with something in it. Exchanged the two owners retracted their hands to their respective sides.

“Thanks”

“Only because you grew up with us around Miss Kale. She didn’t have too much but she took care of any kid that she could without a home or food.”

Nikolai said with a smile and lightly punching his arm

“It’s also an apology!”

“Apology for what? With how much you gave us I think we’re good for the night. Rich girls like to smoke. Ha, not even Zayne could…”

Jesse questioned Nikolai's preemptive apology. Immediately became silent and blankly looked at the grinning Nikolai. A few seconds passed before he realized and remembered something. His head jerked to the side to see as he suspected, three girls around Zayne.

Zayne: “Huh? Azure? That’s…a very specific color.”

Girl 1: “Yup! A few girls are talking about the guy in the Wolves with Azure Eyes they’ve seen around the area a few times”

The girl said, stepping close to Zayne while she pressed her chest against his giggling. She looked into his eyes. Zayne of course smiled and held his cool, looking to resist temptation. With a confident smirk, he looked into her eyes. Unintentionally his eyes would peer down into the girl against his chest’s shirt before returning to eye contact quickly once he had noticed he was staring. Seeing him the girl smiled and took a step back, putting a finger to her lips and staring in silence as she inspected Zayne from head the toe. The girl ended her analysis with a faint laugh. Zayne seemed confused about the mystery of the girl's mind.

“I can think of a few points of view the three of us could look at you from. I wonder if they glow in the dark.”

She said seductively winking one eye, leading the other girls to chime in on the agreement. Zayne chuckled but took a glance from the corner of his eye, seeing the defeat on Jesse’s face and the large grin on Nikolai’s

“See I would but I gotta do street punk things with my street punk friends. On the boss’s orders, I’m afraid.”

Zayne said looking over to Nikolai. The joke earned a laugh from all but the two males who came with the girls. Standing off to the side, forgotten and sulking.

“…How do you live with that Niko?”

“With a winning smile and witty humor!”

Nikolai proudly brought his fist to his chest, closing his eyes in the process. However, no one would be in front of him by the time he opened them. Quickly looking to his side, he saw the group walking off. The two males behind the girls, gently pushing them to escape Zayne and Nikolai, yet the girls seemed to wave and smile even more toward Zayne as they left.

“Always so popular heh”

“Not my fault”

“For a guy who gets a lot of womanly attention, you sure don’t bite often”

“What can I say? I have my preferences”

Zayne said, shrugging at the comment from his friend. After a few moments of walking through the city, a man casually approached them with his hand waved in the air to get their attention. The man wore a Wolf insignia on the shoulder of his jacket indicating he was a member of the sleeping wolves family. Without hesitation, they shook hands familiarly with Zayne and Nikolai.

“So what brings you guys along this strip?”

Zayne asked, with Nikolai quickly following behind with his own statement over her friend's question.

“Yeah, I thought you guys would be busy too. The Prime-Arch’s anniversary is in a couple of days. Everyone’s all busy tonight getting their own celebrations on. It’ll be like this until the ceremony is over”

Sleeping Wolves Member: “Yeah, and people out partying. It’s a big day to make some money off some people but I just came to grab you guys since you’ve been keeping watch for hours now. If he didn’t show up by now he’s probably not going to show.”

Zayne: “Hm. Well, that works for me.”

Nikolai: “Sure does!”

Hearing their words the man smiled and chuckled as if he had planned for them to easily take the bait. His face also read his excitement for their answers.

“As a senior Wolf, I relieve you two of all duties tonight!”

“Oh look at you sounding all formal!”

Nikolai commented as he placed his hands on the man’s shoulder.

“Damn straight! Haha. Come on, let’s go to the main square!”

The senior member looked to Zayne, gesturing for him.

“It’s packed since everyone’s celebrating, some women, and you never know who will need the hookup.”

“Fun, women, Money. Sounds like I will have to happily take you up on that offer.”

“Glad to hear it Z. The night’s not getting any younger! Let’s get a move on chumps.”

Several Seconds Later...

The city streets were calm. Vehicles riding along the street, with many out walking on this weekend night. The lights from the tall surrounding buildings illuminate the busy plaza. Walking across the plaza was a small group of males. Two of the three talked amongst themselves as the third, Zayne, suddenly stopped. The young man Zayne stood looking up at a large video screen on the side of a large building. His Azure blue eyes glanced up at the report of an escaped wanted man. Looking at this he held his sucker in his mouth. He chuckled to himself as he turned back to catch up with his group at a casual pace. His group belonged to one of the four families. Sleeping Wolves, the name resounding to ears from his nearby allies walking forward with Zayne positioned at the back. A gang of ruffians and drug dealers, by far the largest family due to their lack of requirements for joining. Leaving their territory lightly hostile, and as such a non-desirable area yet excellent for high-end entertainment such as casinos, the government has sectioned it for those of moderately affordable homes. With a mentality of their domain, most members gain the feeling they can do as they please even though the law proudly suggests otherwise. Coming back to the present, glancing at his company, Zayne smirked.

(Not my choice of company but it was easier to survive, even a little fun to it.)

He thought to himself causing him to laugh earning the attention of his group.

“What’s so funny?”

Nikolai questioned, their senior in front turning to Zayne with a confident smile.

“Ah, nothing. Just thinking about what’s ahead.”

Zayne replied. The male in front laughed and replied.

“Ha! Yeah! Since we’re on the topic, I feel like I should have grabbed more before I left if I was going to use my free day to sell.”

The group seemed excited by their body language and wearing smiles on their faces, all except for Nikolai who comedic sulked at his own lack of preparation.

“At least you have more money to have fun tonight right?”

“That IS true!”

Nikolai confirmed, his frown shifting to a large grin at the thought of the money he had collected through the night.

A few moments later…

Civilian screams filled the air as they ran every which way to escape, the source of their fear apparent as rapid gunshots filled the air just as much if not more than the screams. Quickly the three took off sprinting towards the next block over where they heard the sounds. A territory dispute, the street would fall to hailing gunfire as two groups hid behind what cover they could find on the streets, ducking in and out of cover. On each side of the street, each member fired their weapons with haste on one side the insignia of a wolf’s head rested on the clothing of the left side, and the insignia for the sleeping wolves, on the other group lay there were no insignia’s only masks hiding their faces. Several bodies from each side already lay dead on the sidewalks and streets, the blood seeping into the sewer grate. Suddenly Zayne and his company came dashing onto the scene, arms were drawn and firing at the masked group as they ran to cover alongside their allies.

Group Member A: “Fuck, I’ve never been glad to see your ugly ass faces.”

A member of the Sleeping Wolves exclaimed, chuckling at his statement as Zayne and his boys ducked behind the car their ally had been hiding behind with three of their friend's bodies lying right by their feet, corpses riddled with bullet holes.

“What the hell happened?!”

Zayne questioned with haste.

Group Member A: “Fuck if I know. A whole gang of some new guys. They don’t have an emblem. They hijacked one of our trucks moving some weight and distracted us by starting a slaughter in the streets over here. Surprise attack they came from nowhere and started putting two in every civilian for blocks away. They shot the old lady on the east end.“

“Miss Kale?!”

Zayne quickly interrupted the man as their comrades on the street continued their firefight. The male explaining the situation looked to Zayne, with regret in his eyes. He hesitantly nodded to confirm the question. A slight shock took over Zayne’s expression, staring off into nothing while his friends returned fire during his silence. His mind flashed back to when he was 13. His clothes were torn and filthy from fights from living and surviving on the streets.

Narration:[In this city it was common to see a decent amount of starving and homeless. Over the years it became less so, but in the district of the sleeping wolves, it seemed the problem had never left. Many had regular jobs to try and make due. The real luxuries come from the dirty work. As one of the larger territories, their population stood high but just as much as their crime and poverty rate.]

The sound of a bullet piercing through metal snapped Zayne’s attention back to the present, his head turning just in time to see one of the men beside him practically throwing himself to the ground for cover behind the car, the bullet grazing his face. As for the man who had come with Zayne and Nikolai was nowhere to be found. Zayne looked side to side in search of an answer to his whereabouts.

“Where did-“

Group Member A: “Shit! Some help would be pretty fucking good right now Zayne!”

Nikolai: “Zayne!”

Zayne: "Right!”

A look of determination overcame Zayne’s expression, coupled with a smirk as he unzipped his jacket. On the other side of the street, the masked men fired with handguns, noticing the remaining Wolves hadn’t fired back for a moment. Six men, yet one kneeled and picked up an assault rifle from one of their fallen. Without hesitation, the devastating firepower began to riddle and quake the Wolves' cover. It was apparent it wouldn’t protect them. From the corner of the rifleman’s eyes, he sees two people running from behind the car to his right, continuing his fire and pulling the gun to travel towards them. Unfortunately just as the bullets almost found their mark as they closely trailed the two. An object moving from behind the car caught his eye causing him to take on a closer target other than the two males who dove behind more cover compared to what was out in the open. In mid-air, the form was stopped and suspended by the large series of bullets being fired into it.

His fire stopped and his eyes widened to realize as the form fell to the ground, it was simply a jacket. Just as the thought sat in one of the masked men began to process, his comrades attempted to alert the rifleman but it was too late. From the opposite side, Zayne would be leaping to the side, a handgun drawn, an eye closed hinting he had plenty of time to line up his shot. With the pull of the trigger, the bullet traveled just as the rifleman’s eyes turned to see the form at the left. The bullet pierced the corner of his face, leaving it deformed and mangled while the body dropped. A cry of vengeance came from the remaining five, prompting them to raise their weapons to fire at Zayne who had landed on the back of a parked car also filled with bullet holes. Scrambling to his feet, his two allies took advantage and began firing from their right, dropping one of the men, causing their attention to the wolves, not intentionally for long but it was all Zayne needed to quickly take advantage as another body fell returning their heads to the left to see Zayne in the middle of the street dashing for them while unleashing a couple of shots. His precision was apparent as two more fell, a single shot for each head. The remaining two backed up toward the alley behind them, removing themselves from direct fire from the aiding wolves yet keeping Zayne in their sights. Zayne’s gun clicked.

“Tch. Empty.”

He said to his disappointment caused by his gun-running out of Ammo while he was in the open. Quickly the masked men’s guns raised, leading Zayne to chuck his weapon. Pushing through the air with great velocity it struck one of the men in the face, knocking him off balance. Before the other could fully raise his weapon Zayne had closed the distance, taking hold of the man’s arm. Zayne weaved to the side between the two, evading the man’s panic shots, yet with both hands on the man’s arm, Zayne guided the arm during the panic shots so that the rounds would be fired into his remaining ally. Struck with fear and terror over his accidental actions, he was stunned for a split second, leading Zayne to deliver a heavy punch to the man’s face, tossing him against the concrete wall of the building that helped form the alley. The impact quickly made him lose grip of his weapon in the air. Just as his head bounced off the wall, Zayne delivered a powerful kick to the man’s stomach before catching the man’s handgun from the air before it touched the ground. The kick stunned the man and caused him to fall into a sitting position against the wall. Beaten, looking up to see Zayne holding the weapon to his head at point-blank. Zayne smirked as he saw only the depression of defeat in the man’s eyes through his mask. Yet his smirk quickly disappeared as the stare of depression immediately changed to a glare of rage. Suddenly his body began to twitch and grow in density visibly through his shirt as it became more constricted with the growth. His incisors grew slightly and the color of his eyes changed.

Zayne was surprised at the sudden strange events. The gun was still aimed at the man whose body sat there shaking and muscles twitching.

“…Couldn’t make it past the awakening. You were once a person minutes ago. “

The man’s body ceased moving. Its head slowly moved up to look into Zayne’s eyes with little life left in him.

“Mm. Failed the awakening. I should get rid of you. It’s better than having others see you and give the propaganda mules more reason to protest and complain.”

Just as his finger began to move on the trigger. His eyes widened greatly as the downed man had suddenly moved from sitting to in his face, snarling with his fangs presented and his clawed hand closing in on Zayne’s head at an inhuman speed. To the creature’s surprise, being so close to striking, Zayne managed to duck and weave under the wide swing, managing to toss the gun into the air. The feral alpha’s claws tore through the concrete, breaking pieces from the other wall of the alley. The concrete material puts up no resistance to its feral claws. Zayne caught his footing as the attack missed and launched a swift powerful kick to the creature's back. A burst of air breezed through the alley from the impact alone. A sudden inhumanely powerful kick was sent to the beast shortly, but seemingly instant into the wall, its body crashing with enough impact to crack the wall. Once Zayne had both feet back on the ground, he pulled his fist back before delivering a combination of punches to its chest, further indenting the wall with each strike. Quickly reaching up into the air, he took grasp of the falling firearm and placed the barrel inside the mouth of the creature. Its bloodshot eyes are still riddled with anger, pain, and agony. Releasing the remaining shots in the clip precisely into its head before the body hits the ground.

“Alpha both normal and feral have tough skin, I guess it doesn’t save from the inside huh?”

Outside the alley, Nikolai and his friend witnessed several flashes and bangs that each filled the alley with light and sound respectively. Car alarms went off and the sound of the roaring flames of a car on fire filled the air.

A moment later…

Wounded and dead lay over ten people belonging to the Sleeping wolves to the unknown masked group total of six that were there present. Zayne walked to the center of the streets, blood on his clothes but he was met in the street by his two allies.

“HELL YEAH Zayne! Whooo!”

The male Nikolai cheered and yelled in excitement.

Group Member A: “Can’t lie, that was pretty badass. Zayne was it? Hmph. With skills like that, I’ll mention you to the east boss when I get back. I’m sure your boss in the north will reward you pretty well. Hehehe.”

“There are so many Sleeping wolves it’d be hard to believe a street grunt like me to actually meet a boss.”

Zayne responded before chuckling. Prompting Nikolai to speak next.

“We’ve been on the streets since we were kids Zayne, we can live off pretty decently by comparison. Our share of rewards should be coming soon.”

He said shrugging his shoulders, prompting the idea they were way past due for a fitting reward besides minor street pay for street jobs.

“Hm? How long have you guys been part of the Sleeping Wolves?”

The senior member asked both men while retrieving and lighting a cigarette for himself. As expected, Nikolai spoke up first.

“I’ve been at it since 17. Moving drugs, money collection, that type of deal. My mother would roll over in her grave but…it’s far better than how it used to be. Starving, no parents, being robbed. At some point, a guy just has to do what he’s gotta do to survive. Or at least a better living.”

“Been a wolf since 16. I and Nicholai started together”

“I and Zayne met a few years before that though. Miss Kale took me off the street and gave me a home along with some other poor children souls like Zayne here, he came after my first year.”

“After my parents died I was a kid on the street for two years before Miss Kale took me in. She just wanted to help. She used to say she could live in better areas, and work a job with better pay that could actually pay something decent. But the sweet old woman felt her duty was here in this district to help.”

“Hm. Victoria Kale was a mother to many on these streets, even the ones she couldn’t afford to take in. Well as the hand of the East boss, I hope you two accept our apology. If we had been quicker to catch on things might have been different.”

The senior man said, immediately into a state of regret and sorrow, his eyes peering to the ground. After a second, the silence caught his attention, leading him to gaze up at Zayne and Nicholai, seeing their surprised yet shocked expressions. The man only looked confused.

“A hand to the east boss?! Over half of the Sleeping Wolves never get the luxury to see a boss, all these families work through connections and such! It would take some serious shit to become a hand! You're in the top ten of the East then!”

“Hahaha! I might not look it but I’m pushing forty boys! Been in the game a long time haha! Well Zayne and Nikolai of the North, we better scram before the cops come.”

As if on cue a mass of police sirens could be heard in the far distance drawing near. The man turned his back and started to walk off in the opposite direction. While the two were distracted by the sirens, the Wolf member's eyes focused on the alley, seeing the arm of the body. Yet before his shock set in, he kept his composure and dropped his greatly serious expression.

“Zayne and Nikolai of the North. Maybe we’ll meet again, maybe not but I’ll make sure to let my boss know, he might get your boss to reward you. Later!”

He said walking off into the distance.

“Hey Zayne, let’s go check out Miss Kales place….”

Nikolai said in a somber tone. The two escaped the situation with their lives, but the death of Victoria Kale drained what excitement they could have from them at the moment.

“Yeah, we owe her that. Plus more.”

“Sentimental Zayne? What happened to Mister dope boy slash playboy gangster? Haha!”

Zayne chuckled, taking a jab at Nikolai’s arm, and chuckled from his joke as he turned to start their walk. Nikolai laughed while he trailed behind. Even though comrades were dead, they held only a small amount of sympathy. Most Sleeping Wolves members were delinquents looking for some connection to flaunt their attitude and power over others. Zayne and Nikolai however stuck more so to their own. Taking orders, taking jobs, and working on what they wanted. As long as they got the job done, the sleeping wolves paid decently but then again they were a small time when it came to ranks. Yet they both knew they could work better in and out of fights than many but they weren’t living to outshine others.

“What’s that name the girls at the clubs call you again?”

“The pet name they come up with because of my eyes? Azure”

Flashback: A small home would be shown in a nice housing area. The home was in a part of the city where it was generally peaceful. Notably, more than most places to live in the city. Inside a woman stood in the kitchen area overlooking the merged large room it was in. In front of her was a man sitting at a table. An open folder with multiple documents and the man’s tired expression only made his exhaustion at looking at the apparent. The woman had long white hair, a humble-length dress, and an open sweater covering her arms and shoulders as she prepared food in the kitchen with a smile. The man had short black hair, his rough facial hair hinting towards his distress lately, the man wearing simple pants and a collared shirt with the light reflecting off his glasses. He let out a sigh, sitting back in his chair.

Woman: "It’ll be fine Marrick”

She said, hearing her husband’s sigh.

Marrick: "Heh, thanks. Mila”

Milla: “You’ve done enough working for the day, relax sweetie, dinners are almost done. You’ve been going through those things all day. Today was your day off too.”

Mila said, wiping her hands with a rag and walking over to her husband. She approached behind him and wrapped her arms over the back of his shoulders, kissing him on the cheek as he looked over the information he had.

“It’s just a lot to read over, with this discovery maybe me and my team can show the city a new outlook on human and alpha relations in the city…We’ll need it if we’re going to make it.”

Mila’s smile faded, listening to the grim words coming from her husband. A second passed, leading her to hold onto him tighter.

“Well, you’re my savior, without you, the family who asked for your research must be really thankful.”

“Yes the Calicio are backing us and we’re grateful for each other’s help. Once this info gets out…it’ll change everything. Most won’t like it, but as people, we must move on to the next change. Next week we take all of our collected information to the Calicio. They could barely believe my words, even my team didn’t believe me. Honestly, I’m not even sure they fully believe me now. The only reason they follow me now with this secret is that we knew what to look for and they were able to see traces of what I was saying was true. But that’s only because you’re the one who revealed the truth to me. I want to give you the world you dream to wish for. A second chance”

“I’ve told you before, you’ve already given me more than I could wish for here in this house.”

Mila’s embrace of her husband grew tighter, her head resting on his shoulders, their cheeks touching. She couldn’t help but smile with tears running from her eyes. Marrick stayed silent to her response, reaching a hand up to place it on top of her head, turning his face to kiss her cheek.

"You’re scared of all this coming out. You know more than I do…we just can’t wait and sit for it to come…otherwise-“

Suddenly a door at the side of the room flew open with two young boys tussling and rolling out of the room. The two stopped their rolling in the middle of the floor with one pinning the other on the ground by his shoulders. The boy on top who had pinned the other had short black hair, the one pinned had black hair as well though his hair was much longer, reaching past his shoulders with a group of strands in front of his face being white. The victor held a large smile, opening his mouth to announce his victory.

Boy A: “I win again!”

He said confidently. The two shared a laugh, their enjoyment of their roughhousing apparent. The two parents paused, taking a moment to take in what they were looking at before looking at each other in silence. Large smiles soon appeared on their own faces to match their two children. Mila gave her husband a kiss on the cheek before finally removing herself from her husband and making her way back to the kitchen area of the room.

Boy A: “That makes my two wins against you’re two!”

“Zayne get off of your brother. It’s almost time to eat so sit at the table with your father.”

The boy Zayne quickly listened to his mother from the other room and lifted himself off of his brother. Once to his feet, he extended his hand to help his brother up.

“C’mon Caius!”

“I let you win this time! But the tiebreaker is mine!”

Caius said cheerfully as he took his brother's hand and rose to his feet. The two quickly ran to their seats at the table. Soon enough dinner was freshly served, the family all smiling together. Suddenly, a knock at their door caught the attention of the adults. The kids are paying it no mind, taking the full opportunity to dive into their meals.

“Who could that be at this time just after eleven at night?”

“Hm. No clue.”

Marrick answered, standing up from his seat to answer the door. As he made his way, Milla curiously looked at her young boys who were visibly enjoying their food, both diving in with little table manners in mind. Suddenly a crashing impact could be heard from the doorway, prompting the family to quickly turn towards the direction of the door, seeing only Marrick being tossed back into the room on his back. The Milla had only enough time to hop from her feet and make her way to her husband. Just as she reached him, a high air compression could be heard down the hall towards the door. Milla quickly turned to face the intruder but the projectile syringe found its way into her neck, the contents injected into her Almost instantly draining her of all her energy. Her body simply dropped to the floor.

Zayne & Caius: “Mom!”

They yelled hopping from their chairs to the floor but they were stopped in their tracks by the sight of a man walking into sight. Marrick angrily rose to his feet and attempted a charge towards the man yet his body was stopped by a series of gunshots. The children froze, witnessing three more men walk into sight. One of them aimed their weapons right at the boys, walking over their father's corpse to get closer to them.

Milla: “Ggh!”

The sound drew the attention of the intruders over to Milla, even though they had injected her with something, she struggled and used her hands and arms to push and support her upper body off of the ground.

Intruder A: “Wow, she can still move. Ha! I guess it’s true about Alpha’s being tough, but this is impressive.”

The seeming leader of the intruding group raised his air compression gun once again and fired another small syringe needle into her once again as he approached her. With all her strength gone, Milla’s body fell to the floor. From her eyes, she was still clearly conscious and fully aware of her surroundings.

(I….can't…move…Dammit)

The leader laughed and crouched down next to their mother. Taking a handful of her hair he lifted her hair from the ground. In her drugged state, her eyes dragged slowly over to the male, it seemed even doing this much seemed strenuous for her.

Intruder A: “Aww. Can’t say I feel sorry for your husband over there.”

“Get Away-“

That was all that could be said from Zayne before a syringe was shot into his chest by the male already holding his weapon toward the boys. Instinctively as his brother dropped, Caius bellowed a cry of rage, earning the smirk of the one who shot his brother. Aiming and taking a shot at Caius. Unexpectedly, with cold killing intent in his eyes, he side-stepped the syringe at the very last second. Catching all the men off guard. Caius leaped towards the gunman but his allies covered him as one of them fired two shots into him. Unlike the weapons used so far, this man held a real handgun. A bullet pierced through Caius’s stomach and shoulder. The impact tossed him backward in mid-air.

“Phew, that was a close one eh? Hahahaha!”

He said laughing, still holding Milla forcefully by the hair, A flood of tears streaming from her eyes, unable to even speak a word, it being more like she wanted to scream in despair and rage but lacked the ability to even open her mouth to speak.

“Oh! Another Alpha! Well lucky us. Hey if the kids not dead grab him, he’ll fetch a good bonus reward hehe.”

The intruder said looking to his allies who proceeded to follow the order. One man picked up Caius from the quickly formed pool of blood on the floor from his wounds. Zayne lay unconscious on the ground. The man with the real firearm approached their dinner table, grabbing Marrick’s files, and tucked them into his blazer.

“You two can go on ahead back to base. I and the brute carrying the Alpha Kid got it from here. Hey big guy, shoot the boy again if you got to in the meantime. Now about you miss…well I don’t care for knowing your name. But I gotta give the four-eyed guy, he sure found himself a beauty. We don’t HAVE to leave YOU alive but they never said you haD to be left unharmed. It shouldn’t hurt much sweetie, I’ll be your new husband Hehe…”

Present-Day...

Sound of a TV: “Police are still investigating the massacre in the East sector of the city, commonly known to be the territory of the Sleeping Wolves gang. Notorious for disorderly conduct and a vast amount of criminal activity over the years. Officials say the dispute was between two of the main families, the Sleeping Wolves, and The Grandels. What caused the violent dispute has yet to be clarified-“

The sound of the reporter ceased, and the television turned off. Around it was the inside of an apartment. Obviously not of the highest class but it rested on the upper level of other apartments. Two bedrooms and the main room with the TV was somewhat spacious but a large couch in front of it, Zayne lying back sprawled on the couch. Near the wall was a desk. Nikolai sat on its edge with the remote in his hand. He let out a sigh before lobbing the remote over to the couch, cracking Zayne in the head, and causing him to spring from his slumber.

“ACK! What the fuck?!”

Zayne yelled as he sat up. His eyes peered to the side just in time to see the remote land on the ground and in the same direction, the TV and the culprit Zayne who sat chuckling at him.

“Wake up buddy! Time to go!”

“Ggh. Go where?”

“To the boss. The Sleeping Wolves boss of the north. Got a call this morning saying he wanted to talk to us about an opportunity. So needless to say I’m pretty damn excited Hahaha!”

“Boss…have we ever seen him face to face?”

“Dude, we’ve never seen him. No one ever really sees them. The bosses are the high rollers in penthouses with women and big as pools!”

Nikolai exclaimed angrily tossing his arms into the air for the jealousy in the thought.

“So everyone knows the bosses aren’t known for being nice. But you know how it goes.”

“Yeah, you can’t be a wolf if you don’t know. Upset a boss and you’ll have so many people wanting your head…”

Nikolai stood up from the desk.

“Alright dress nice. This could be good.”

“Out of the four bosses, ours have the most infamous reputation. Chances are this is going to be more bad than good.”

“Eh, true but you can’t take this one from me. Let’s bet a hundred we get a nice promotion for our valiant efforts!”

“Bet.”

He replied before chuckling. He got up from the couch and aimed to get into a change of clothes. While getting ready they both managed to glance outside a window, seeing a black SUV pull in front of their apartment. The two looked at each other curiously.
