Chapter 0:
Twisted Souls
"These days are all the same. Working and sleeping, occasionally hitting up a bar and just repeating the cycle day in and day out. I want something new and fresh, you know?"
"Yeah, I gotcha. I understand. But really, what are you going to do about it? You always say this and that, but you still don't do a damn thing about it."
"That's true. It's not like I can change my place in life. I'll do what I always do. Anyways I have to head out man, I've had one too many and gotta wake up early tomorrow."
"Alright! Later!" I hear my buddy slur his speech as I make my exit.
I raise my wrist and have a look at my watch.
1:00 AM
"Ah, that's just great. I didn't mean to stay out this late." I mutter to myself as I slowly walk back to my apartment. I look around the deserted dark streets.
"Everybody has the same idea, huh? Even on a Friday night." I sigh and make it to my shabby apartment.
As I open and enter my apartment, I throw my stuff on the counter and get ready for bed.
Creak
As I turn off the lights and make my way to the bed, I hear a low creaking sound. As my eyes adjust to the darkness, I don't see anything.
"I guess it was just other tenants or something." I shrug and lay down.
Creak
This time another creak came in but louder. Again, I fold the pillow over my ears and try to sleep.
Creak
A deafening loud sound penetrated my ears. Almost like electric currents were surrounding me.
"What the hell!" As I took a look around my room, I realized that a faint red light was emanating and lighting up the darkroom. Unfortunately, as I follow the red light to the source, I see a glowing red hole along my wall.
"Wh-What is this!" I yell and fall from the bed. I try and backpedal as quickly as I can towards my wall as far away as I can.
As I kept my eyes on the opening and slowly inched my way towards the front door, I could see that it was continuously getting brighter, and a dark shadow was moving and crawling out of the opening.
As I tried to turn to unlock the front door and leave, a colossal crater and a thundering sound stopped me in my tracks. As I turned and looked back, I could see a tentacle resembling an octopus in the middle of a colossal crater on the ground.
As I raised my eyes, I could see a figure walking or shuffling towards me. A grotesque patched-together figure seemingly from different animals and humans sewed together. The sight alone nearly made me puke, but I tried to keep it together and forced it down. Then, pushing my fear aside, I quickly turned around, fumbled with the lock unlocking it, and threw the door open. I ran as soon as I could out of my apartment. Or at least that's what should have happened.
As I made it a few steps outside, I felt something curling around my ankle. Afraid I knew what it was, I slowly looked down and saw a tentacle wrapped around my leg. Before I could even think of how to get it off, I was forcibly dragged back into my apartment. I felt a heavy pressure holding my head and then suddenly-
Bang
The sewn-together creature slammed my head into the floor. Once again, my head was picked up and then-
Bang
This was it. This is how I would die. 23-years old, and this is how I would die at the hands of a grotesque monster
Bang
My vision turned black, and I fainted.
