Chapter 36:
To you, the wishing girl
If cats don’t talk, then who am I talking to?
“Meow” - The cat yawned and rolled into a curl.
I stared at the cat in front of me and kneeled down.
Is this cat even a cat?
I streched up my arm and tried to touch him.
<<Cr….e…..a…k…>>
Suddenly, all color faded from my face and I stopped midways.
The front door is open.
<<Creak, creak, creak>>
Somebody is walking upstairs.
I mustn’t make any noise.
…Oh no.
I just remembered.
$@#+- hates animals.
-
I looked at the ball of furr in front of me.
He was sleeping so very peacefully.
I envied him.
<<Tap, tap>>
That’s right.
I don’t have time for this.
<<Tap, tap>>
I have to hurry.
…?
Why is that I’m so slow today?
My body, my mind…
<<Tap, tap>>
Somehow, it’s hard.
To… think.
//
The girl shook her head sideaway to “wake herself up”. But even so, she couldn’t.
It seems not only her body had frozen over, but so did her brain.
“…cat…hide…” - The girl mumbled to herself while looking dazed.
“run…must..” - She looked over to all corners of her room.
“…where?”
“…why?”
“face? bad? good?”
“sitting? bad? good?”
“yes? no?”
“who?”
//
<<Cr…..ea…..k…>>
The door opened.
The girl looked at it with a dumb expression on her face.
It was game over.
