Chapter 6

"Hey." said Akaza one day "follow me" and Kyo did. No questions asked. He just followed the pink haired dude in front of him that was a big part of his life and he was greatly attached to.

"Today is the day" said Akaza, when they reached the lagoon they had been before "I'm going to win."

Kyo laughed "Sure." he said "but let's bet on something."

"Fair enough. If I win, next time I go to the village you have to come with."

Kyo pondered for a few seconds before replying "Even though you know I don't want to eat people.... Sure, no way I'll lose either way."

Akaza removed his clothes before replying "You won't regret coming with me. I promise."

"If I win, you will have to do everything I tell you to for a full day." said Kyo while he too undressed to his undergarments.

"No way! Following your orders for a day it's going to be a drag."

"Not as bad as making me eat humans. Or you aren't confident you can beat me?"

"I'm gonna leave you in the dust," confronted Akaza, accepting the challenge.

They agreed on the terms of the race and both started the countdown, but before they reached zero, Akaza jumped in the water. Kyo went right behind him and won the race.

"No! No! No! You cheated!" accused Akaza, freaking out.

"Sure Mr. False-start! Anyway, remember that if you don't do what I tell you, there will be penalties."

"Oh, come on!" grumbled Akaza smashing his hands in the water splashing both of them.

"First you'll have to be completely honest for the next 24 hours. Easy right?"

Akaza didn't reply, he just looked Kyo in the eyes and floated away from him. "Your swimming got better, have you been practicing?" asked Kyo. Akaza looked away but Kyo could see he had gotten slightly red. "You have to always answer when I ask you a question and silence is not considered an answer." insisted Kyo.

"Tch. I can't remember, if I did or not." grumbled Akaza.

"Don't forget the first rule. Be completely honest."

"Ahhhh. This has been going for less than 5 minutes and I already want to kill you. How about that for 'honest'."

"Oh good good. 'Honest' is good. But my question was different." pressed Kyo.

Akaza blushed fervently. "Yes, I did come here to train so I could beat you. Happy?" he said and swam away towards the shore. Kyo followed slowly and smiled. 'Ain't he cute'. Kyo surprised himself by thinking that for a second time. Akaza got out of the water and looked behind him, they locked eyes and Akaza's shyness passed to Kyo, as he too had shades of red on his cheeks. Yes, Kyo thought that this pink-haired demon who loved to fight was cute. They sat side by side at the shore, Kyo looking straight ahead eyes focusing on the body of water, his legs crossed and his hands in front. Akaza too, was looking ahead, knees at his chest, his head resting on his folded arms on top of his knees.

"One day" began Kyo "I'll make you enjoy these moments more than eating humans," he turned his face to Akaza "I'll find something that gives you a high, higher than eating humans".

Akaza kept quiet looking over at the dark sky with a pensive expression "You're fighting a losing battle on that one." he said.

"So were you when you came here to practice by yourself. But even so, you will keep training to win against me right?"

Akaza looked over to Kyo and they locked eyes. "You really piss me off," said Akaza, burying his face between his legs. Kyo smiled and patted the fluffy pink hair.
