Chapter 2:

How It All Began Part 2

Behind The Scenes

Koda's POV

Now that I have graduated high school, I have more time to do more auditions and I could focus more on my acting classes since I have 2 weeks more of it after graduation. During those days, I did nothing but give my undivided attention to my classes. I also have been reading scripts of my favorite movies and films and have been acting them out in my room before I sleep and minutes after I wake up.

Those 2 weeks have passed quickly and I have completed my 4 years of acting classes and I am now confident in my skills. I feel like I am ready to go out there. Oh yeah, and Kaito is now my manager. Ever since we graduated, he started to work on some stuff like my acting resume. He already knows the details that he needs to put in there so I let him work on it. Not only that, but he's also been searching for roles that I could play either for commercials, TV, or movies.

For my first 2 months, I could only land roles for commercials. I'm that typical son in a family for an ad of either milk, cheese, or butter.

The following month, I have been getting roles as background characters for dramas in those typical teen romances. Literally one of my roles there was to get hit by a basketball in the head so that the leading man could help me while the leading lady watches him.

It gets better from there. I have landed roles of small characters that have lines, and my first supporting role for the following months. I remember how Kaito excited was when he received a call from the casting director.

My first supporting character role was the dumb best friend of the main character in a teen romance drama. That role was pretty easy for me to do since all I ever did in high school was watch dramas, anime, and have read manga and novels that have that type of character. I have also read the manga that this drama was adapted from and my character is not just dumb, but he has a heart of gold. He wants what is best for his friends but sometimes it doesn't work out the way he thought it would.

The drama only had 8 episodes and it ran for two months, but I feel like I'm slowly starting to get known by people. My followers on Twitter went from 100 to 30K in the span of two months. I was so happy. I told Kaito about this and he's as excited as I am.

Literally, a week after the drama ended, I was asked to audition for a role in a secret project that even they didn't tell me and Kaito about. They just gave Kaito the script, which he then sends me immediately. I skimmed the lines for the roles they want me to audition for and immediately I know what this is.

This script is for an adaptation of a popular romance manga! It looked like it was a movie script. I remember reading this manga when I was still in high school. The manga is about a girl who met a nice guy in her school. It seemed that he likes to help everyone in their school, especially the main girl who somehow gets herself in all sorts of trouble, and the main guy would be there to help her. Having her interest piqued, she decided to investigate by following him one day after school. She then discovers that he was a part of an underground illegal motorcycle racing ring and that he would race there every day after school, earning money every time he wins. And it goes from there.

It's honestly one of the best manga that I have read out there, and the manga has a huge fanbase locally and globally. The release of the movie adaptation of this manga would definitely blow up. Being a part of this project would be huge!

* * * * *

I feel like the audition went well. I auditioned in front of three people, one was the casting director, and the two I don't know. I assume that the other two were the director and the writer since they would hugely be involved with the film.

"So, what did they say?" Kaito asks me as he reads something off his laptop. Kaito went to college, so he's probably doing some of his schoolwork.

"Oh, you know, the usual," I replied. "They said that they'll contact you as soon as they're done reviewing the auditions that happened today, which is a lot since I think we were more than 200."

"Oh, I see I see," Kaito continues to type in his laptop. "I think we'll be getting the results in a few days since I heard there's another audition tomorrow for the project."

I sat on the couch. Today was a long day. I kept reading the script that was given to me and I waited for almost the entire day just to get through the auditions. I should be positive, but even if I didn't get the main role, I would be happy even if I play one of the side characters. The casting director also asked me to read the lines of some supporting characters, so that's a possibility.

I feel a cold object touch my shoulder. I look at it to see that it was a bottle of chocolate drink Kaito was handing me. He has a smile on his face. "Drink up. Don't beat up yourself, I know you did well."

"How-"

"I can tell by the way you walked in the room and as you sat down."

I took the drink and smiled back. "Thanks."

"I've also made dinner, it's in the oven. Make sure to shower first before you eat. And please, sleep early this time. You need rest, especially since it took you the entire day to go through the auditions."

"Oh Kaito, what will I do without you," I joked.

He chuckles. "Yeah, yeah."

He continued to type in his laptop as I made my way to the kitchen.

3rd Person POV

Kaito was in the middle of a lecture at university. He has his docs open, typing as his professor discusses the topic with them.

As he typed in his laptop, he saw a notification on the corner of the screen. It was an email. He checked the email on his phone. His eyes widened as he saw that it was from the casting director of the film that Koda auditioned in. Nervous, he slowly taps the email.

He then quickly jolts up from his seat and raised a hand. "Sir, can I be excused for a moment? I need to make a very important phone call."

After getting permission, he rushed to the bathroom and immediately called Koda.

"Hello, Koda?" He says to the phone. "This is about your audition. I received an email from the casting director and they said that you're..."
