Chapter 1:

a loud introduction

I Said Hate, Not Love!

Chapter 1:

What does it mean to be alone?

To be outcast from your fellow humans since the day you were born?

To be treated like you don’t exist?

These were the thoughts of a girl, who had never known what it meant to be loved by anyone, and a boy who lived every day, forgetting what that pain was.

“I’m leaving now.”

Miko Oniwara was a girl with long messy black hair, covering one of her deep blue eyes. As she left her house, she took a deep breath, and walked to her first day at high school. Her eyes wandered to all the other students along her path finding friends to hang out with, and share interests with, while she was…

“Alone” she thought to herself, her memory of the entrance ceremony being a painful reminder that school was not going to be fun for her.

At the ceremony, a few days prior to the present, Miko had bumped into what she could only consider to be the “pretty girl” of the first years. The result was Miko being mocked, insulted, and then being locked out of the gym by the same girl and her friends. Ever since that day, because Miko was new to Tokyo, and everyone had grown up together, Miko was ostracized from the rest of the school.

Back in the present, Miko had reached the front gate to her high school. Sabetsu High. passing by other students, who were whispering behind her back, calling her names, and laughing about her.

When she got to her shoe locker to open it, she found her indoor shoes were filled with thumb tacks. With a grimace, she shook them out of her shoes, and put them on, before putting her normal shoes in her locker.

“If I find out who did this, I am definitely going to shove those tacks down their throat!” Was what was running through Miko’s mind at the time.

“Hello Miko!” came a cheery voice from behind her, which paralyzed her beyond words, like venom being injected into her veins.

“H-Hello… S-Satsuki…” Miko said timidly, while shaking in fear as she turned around to see the girl who had treated her so horribly during the entrance ceremony. Erina Satsuki. A blonde girl with long curly twintails, and a warm smile that screamed “play along or I’ll kill you” behind it.

“After school today, I need you to go buy me and my friends some drinks, and deliver them to us by the soccer field. We plan on watching the boys who joined the soccer club play, understand?” Erina asked with her hand on Miko’s shoulder, digging her nails into it, all with the same cheerful smile.

“O-okay… just, please s-stop, you’re hurting me.” Miko squeaked out, as she started to tense from the pain Erina’s grip was giving to her shoulder.

“Good girl!” Erina giggled as she released her grip, and skipped off to her first class.

Miko slumped down by her shoe locker, with a face of both fear, and rage mixed together, before dragging herself up, and heading to her class as well.

“Fucking bitch, why in the hell should I have to give such a waste of oxygen, and her band of marry idiots drinks with my money, just so you can ogle at idiots kicking a ball all day!” Miko thought to herself, with an expression of pure annoyance across her socially awkward face.

As Miko opened the door to her classroom, lost in her own revenge fantasies, she immediately bumped into what felt like… someone’s back, but, really tall?

Looking up, with an annoyed scowl on her face, she found she had ran into a tall guy with brownish blonde hair. He looked like one of those hot guys you’d see doing modeling.

“Excuse me, you’re in my way.” Miko whispered, too afraid to speak up, because of her fear of people.

Almost as if out of spite, the tall guy continued talking to someone else in front of him. Not as though the short and timid Miko could tell who, exactly.

“Did… Did this asshole seriously just ignore me? Or is he THAT braindead?” Miko thought to herself, as her rising anger from this morning grew even more.

Sighing to herself, Miko walked a few feet to the other entrance, and tried to open it, only to find it was jammed, and wouldn’t open.

“You have got to be kidding me. You have GOT to be kidding me!” Miko thought to herself, shaking violently with anger.

Whipping herself around, and marching back over to the initial entrance, Miko was baffled to find the guy still taking up the entire doorway.

Reaching into her bag, she pulled out a small device, and reached up to the boy’s ear with it.

Covering one of her ears, Miko pushed a button on the device, and a loud REEEEE sound came from the device. Causing the tall boy in front of her to back off and look behind him.

The moment he moved away, Miko turned the device off, with a pissed off look in her eyes.

“The other entrance is jammed, and you were ignoring me.” Miko stated in a stern whisper, while walking into the classroom, while putting the device away.

Sitting down at a desk, Miko prepared for the first class of the day, before cocking her head slowly and scared to the seat next to her, where the boy who she had just set an alarm off in his ear had returned to his seat.

“Sorry about before, I didn’t notice you because you’re so quiet. I’m Ren, Ren Hassa. Nice to meet you!” the boy said with a smile that made all of the girls in the class drool, and look at Miko like she was public enemy number one.

“For as long as I live, I will never want anything to do with this prick.” Miko thought to herself, as she brushed off his greeting, and began reading instead.
