Hunger's Ambition

The Overlord rose, propping itself up between two rock formations, looking down on the Sisters below. It grinned, black blood pouring from its mouth as it did so. Rocks swirled around it, orbiting like asteroids around a planet. 

"Everyone." Elena readied her blade, addressing the group. "I need an opening. Rell, if you can break its barrier for even a moment, I can finish it off." 

"Okay. I'll follow your lead." Rell said. 

"And we'll support." Rin's voice said. 

"I'm excited, this our team attack!" Mira practically jumped in place, readying her spear. 

"Wombo Combo." Luna said, raising a fist. 

"Ready?" Elena asked, taking a stance by Rell's side. 

"Go!" Rin yelled. 

Luna took point, rushing forward, shield at the ready. With a grunt, she slammed the shield on the ground, summoning a wave of earth that slammed into the charging group of Shadows. Several hornet Shadows flew above, only to get sniped by the snipers. Luna shifted, spliting the sea of spiked earth she had create, forming a smooth path of stone before continuing forward. 

Mira charged, hiding under the cover of Luna's shield. A bull Shadow charged forward, slamming into Luna's shield and pushing her back. Her feet slid against the ground, kicking up debris as she resisted the force of the Shadow. Mira slipped under, water Nin dancing around her spear. 

"Thousand Brine Thrust!!" She cried, unleashing a hellish flurry of water strikes, skewering the Shadow. its corpse collapsed, nearly split in two from the force of the attack. 

Elena and Rell followed the path cleared for them, using their Nin to enhance their speed, they moved in synch, bobbing and weaving between the debris and stray Shadows. 

The Overlord roared, flinging several rapid fire boulders towards the approaching group. Yana pointed, forming a gun with her hand, countering the attack with her own boulders. She winked at the creature, blowing on her finger gun. 

"Luna! Rell needs a way up!" Elena yelled as they rapidly approached the two. 

"Roger." Luna smirked, slamming a foot into the ground. 

Several chunks of earth suddenly flew into the air, forming a loose staircase towards the Overlord. It threw a tantrum, spitting out several black blobs from its body. Several large animal Shadows emerged, rushing forward to intercept the group. 

Yana leapt forward, Astra following shortly behind. The red headed Sister raised her massive battle axe. 

"Raging Inferno God!” She cried, the axe down onto the ground, sending up a massive inferno of Fire Nin that immolated the approaching creatures. 

"Too hot..." She gasped, wiping sweat from her brow. 

Rell dashed forward, leaping onto the floating rocks, bounding up towards the Overlord. 

Two hornets rushed Rell's position in a desperate final attack. Astra Wind Pushed, soaring rapidly into the air before flinging her last two daggers. They hit their marks, piercing straight through the two Shadows. 

Rell charged Shadow Nin, a dark, crimson flame forming along his blade. He raised his weapon high, the flames expanding past the blade, grow three times its length. 

The Overlord looked at him, and frowned. 

With a stroke, he brought down his blade, shattering the Overlord's barrier into a thousand pieces. The Overlord let out an inhuman cry, flaying and charging Earth Nin. Massive runes singed the ground across the landscape, glowing bright orange. 

"No you don't!" Luna cried, slamming her foot down onto the earth. "Echo of Gaia!!" 

The earth split apart, creating a massive fissure near the Colossal Shadow. It slipped, losing its focus and breaking the cast of Earth Nin as the Shadow fell backwards. 

Elena soared past Rell, twisting through the air, channeling Wind Nin into her weapon. 

"I had to think really hard on what I was going to call this..." She whispered to herself, a massive amount of Wind Nin dancing around her weapon, bright green light illuminating from the very air around it. 

"I think this will have to do." She concluded, pulling her arm back as she descended onto the Shadow, spinning more and more rapidly like a ballerina of death. 

A gust of wind erupted, slamming into the still mid air Rell and Astra, sending them hurdling in the other direction. 

"SKY...."

"SPLITTING..."

"BLADE!!!!" 

The rush of air created tornados as it expanded from her blade. The spiraling wind formed into a hurricane, closing onto the Shadow with unimaginable speed. It passed through, slamming into the ground behind it. With a crack, the earth split, a clean, narrow groove of  earth scourging across the ground. 

The shadow crumbled apart, one half of its body tumbling to the earth away from the other. It reached out, looking at the girl who soared above it. For a few moments, it was like Elena was floating in mid air. 

"Anya..." The Shadow hummed as it faded away.
