17 – The Pint-sized Vampire and the Bunny Knight

The cracking of bones and tearing of flesh had ended the screams of the dark moon-lit night. But for the former Detective and even more recently former black slime. Noir found the moonlight had affected him as well as his agreed target of protection. The Mage Eve. Noir though back to the past few years he had been stuck to the form as he panics about hunting for the mage that all but has vanished from his sight. While having been stuck as a so-called pet of the new form of his hated rival Hideo Eito. In life, he was a tough and formally successful Detective Giichi Takana.

In life, he worked hard to punish the wicked criminal scum of Tokyo. For years he brought down mobster after mobster. While married and a father of a young beautiful daughter. Giichi spent many a night out on the job. Buried deep in his work to make a world safe for the ones he cared for. Such was the way his father taught him. "Peace only comes from a strong sense of Justice, Giichi! If you have justice at your side, you and your family will be blessed in honor." The voice of his father echoed in his head. Words that he always took to heart. Words that made him feel unable to have shaken from his rigid beliefs. Words that got tarnished when Eito came into his and his family's lives.

Giichi was honored as one of the best detectives in all of Japan. He was so good at his job he gained the nickname the "Iron Pillar". Unmoving in the way of the law. But that changed when Hideo Eito rose to the ranks of Kyodai. While Giichi was able to take down many of the Yakuza members that both rivaled and allied on Hideo's side. Giichi for the better of his skill couldn't seem to get any to turn on Eito. And worse when Hideo was promoted not once but twice in the ranks things only kept getting worse. Giichi was beginning to be possessed to bring down the Devil of Ebisu. But one thing kept him from taking down Eito. Was the respect and fear that Eito created in his wake. No one dared turn on him even if they did have something on him. And worse the man was slick and likable among many. And days before Giichi's death. His distractions with his possessed hunt to bring Eito down turned to attack his own home. As Eito and his damn charms won the hearts of his sister first. She fell to his seductions and soon the evil grip of Eito struck the hearts of Giichi's own daughter and wife. For the first time in his life the, Iron Pillar, was shaken. Duty turned to frustration. Frustration turned to fury. And Fury turned to Giichi's downfall.

After Giichi woke from the beating he took. He found himself in a strange clinic being cared for by the woman Ryoko. Trying to leave Ryoko worked hard to stop the grizzled detective but failed. Determined to take down Eito. Giichi's rage still carried on. Rage that leads the still drugged-up detective to grab the doctor as a hostage for Eito. Finding her car, they drove off to hunt the man despite the doctor screaming at him to stop! Giichi wasn't watching rage had taken him. And now a strange white truck plowed into the vehicle. The doctor was dead instantly. Her neck snapped. But Giichi was alive long enough to see the world flip once more. Be it the drugs or the damage to his head. Giichi could not tell but while his seat and the car's roof were crushed on the ground. There stood a strange man, on just the air. Upside down from the world. The man had long flowing black hair and goggles placed on his head. Stranger still the man seemed to form his body out of the very truck that hit him. Gone now was the vehicle and in its place was this strange being.

"Well, well, well, Detective do I have a deal for you." The mysterious man smiled as the detective bleed out.

By the time Giichi awoke… the world was strange. He was strange. No longer human…. That was until… This moonlit night.

Now called Noir. A name that, Giichi, liked with this new form. He was determined to stay at the new form of Eito in this world. A form Giichi envied. Why was Eito given such a good human body and he was this crawling pile of goo. While stuck at Azulle's side. The now slime Noir, found respect and kindness from the young prince Gil. And it helped to see the new form of Eito often got pestered and degraded by her more important to the world brother. This brought a slight sense of delight to Giichi's new life.

But on this night, something new gave the former detective glee. No longer the form of a mere slime. No armor and limbs formed around him in the light of the moon. Was he human again? Thinking back on the group's worries of the curse of the blood moon. A laugh escapes the newly formed lips of Noir. This wasn't a curse. No noir for the first time in over a decade was human again. Remembering his promise to the young prince. Panic hits. Where was the mage girl? The prince ordered Noir to protect her from the light. But in a slip of his shadow cloaking ability, both he and the mage were hit by the light. But if it improved him how bad could it be for her?

A sudden bite of a bug has the dark armor-clad Noir slapping at his neck. He pulls his hand and sees a strange sight within its palm. A young female-like creature no bigger than the length of the bottom of his palm to tip of his middle finger. In his past childhood, Giichi remembered reading tales of fantasy and magical creatures. And surely this looked very much like a fairy… but gone are insect or butterfly wings. In their place were tiny bat wings.

"I am dearly sorry young fairy…" Noir States.

"Ugh Your taste is bad enough but you slap me too!" Shouts out the tiny bat fairy. Whom turns to face Noir and her face brings shock to him. "What do you eat garbage!"

"Madam Eve? Is that you?"

"So, what if I am! I have a mission! To serve my lord's request to destroy this town and to defeat the maid girl, Azulle Darkholt!" The bat fairy Eve states!

"Wait what? But you are a member of Prince Gil's group. Why would he want to defeat his sister?"

"My lord is not some worthless prince Gil!" The tiny Eve shouts.

Something surely is strange about her since she changed. Noir questions. It had not escaped Noir's watchful eye before on how Eve and Gil have been looking at each other. Surely such thoughts and actions don't match the girls' previous feelings for the young prince. But while Eve leaps up and flies to Noir's face she stops and stares at Noir as he stands in shock at her sudden change.

"Maybe why you taste like garbage is because you are also one of the Reformed like myself." Eve states.

"Reformed?" Noir asked puzzled.

"Don't you know anything! Those that drink of the Sanguine Rose Water. Get changed into superior beings Suitable to follow our Lord Pestilence. One of the four lords of the Demon Lords army!" Eve looks puzzled at the strange dark knight. "But what use the lord has of a gelatin armored bunny man I do not know."

"Gelatin Bunny man?" Noir is puzzled and tries something he hadn't till just now. He pulls at his gauntlet causing his now goo-formed appendage to stretch out with the armor. Letting go the arm snaps back into place. Clearly despite his earlier concept Noir still isn't human. But at least a human-like form. Another quick hand movement to the top of his head discovers that the fake bunny ears that once wear made of plastic now were made of iron likely matching the helm that wrapped in a gelatin head.

While Noir was distracted Eve started to fly off, but quickly Noir notices and runs to capture the bat fairy, mage girl. But the quick movements of the fairy vs the uneven and clunky movement of this new form cause Noir issues. Barely able to keep up with her. It's not till the two have reached the part of town facing the forest does Noir even gets a second chance at catching the bat fairy. But it's not the fairy that is spotted first from someone in town. As a shot is run out and nearly misses Noir. To hear a gunshot for the first time since coming to this world causes Noir to pause just long enough to lose his fairy target.

"Stand still and identify yourself as a humanoid dark bunny man!" Shouts a voice that Noir finds almost as shocking coming from the gun wielder as the gunshot itself.

"Francois? Why are you a gun-toting sexy catgirl!"

"Awe shit it's Noir!" Fran sighs partly out of reassurance that she didn't aim for the headshot like she first thought. Just as Gil and Kawa come out of hiding bandaged up.

"Noir?" Gil asks puzzled.

"I told you to stay fucking seated! Shitty Prince! My healing may heal most of your wounds, but you still need to rest for the blood loss! Don't make me kick you again!" Fran turns her eyes glowing in rage at the armored bunny man. "And you shit eater! You're supposed to be protecting that bitchy mage girl!"

Shock hits Noir suddenly and he looks about for Eve but doesn't see her around. "No, where did she go!"

Fran looks puzzled and starts to walk over to her slime brother. "What the fuck are you talking about. You had your shadow cloak. It was supposed to protect both you and the mage girl."

"There was an accident…" Fran shoots Noir this time hitting his arm blowing a hole in the armor which soon reforms and looks like nothing happened at all. "What was that for. I was trying to…"

"Don't you dare fucking say that word to me, shit eater! You don't have the right because you put us in this fucked up mess of a world!"

"Fine, we were hiding out and resting but the building we chose to hide out in collapsed. It caught us by surprise and we both were in the moonlight."

"No, lady Eve is she…" Gil shouts and halts his movement as Fran shoots near him.

"I swear to Fucking God. I will shoot you and heal your ass if you don't calm down, Pervy Prince!" Fran shouts out. "Ninja, you are to protect the prince but if he moves, I will shoot you too! So, neither of you move till I return got it!"

"Yes, scary nurse lady," Kawa responds shaking in fear.

"I am fucking doctor you little shit!" Fran shouts and Kawa ducks behind with the prince. "Okay bunny man let's go!"

"Go?" Noir stands puzzled.

"You must have been a shitty detective on earth. Take me to the Mage girl!" Fran shouts.

"Uh well before you shot at me, I was after her but now…"

"You fucking lost her! What the shit Noir! Fine, then we have no choice!" Fran doesn't wait and moves on into the woods.

"Where are you going?" Noir askes.

"We are going to find, the fucking jerk of a bitch, Eito! She will at least have a damn clue what to do next. If we move quickly, we may catch up to them before dawn!" Fran says as Noir is slowly following behind.

Meanwhile, Azulle, Ori, and Cabbage exhausted from their fight make their way down the foot of the mountain and back to the woods. Ori still weakened from her end of the battle is being carried from Cabbage.

"I am sure your friend is fine. Most people would ignore slimes as long as they don't attack." Cabbage states.

"I am not leaving Fran on her own, besides what Alabaster said… I … I am…" Azulle is shaken despite her

"You are worried your friend will be like Alabaster's girlfriend," Ori asks.

"How could I not. You saw what happened to her! And Fran is more than a slime to me. She is my oldest friend and a piece of my home…" Azulle looks on at the flashy swordsman and then at the ground. "The old me. There are two threats on the town, and on our friends according to Alabaster. We will go and deal with them. And once we heal up and rest, we will return to the path Alabaster left us towards Lust." Ori's eyes move away from the group and she rolls his form from Cabbage's grip.

"What a strange bat that is?"

"Miss Ori, I don't think you should be walking." Cabbage goes to grab the bardic goddess as she drops down to the ground just as quickly as she broke free of his grip. "Oh, right my leg is injured."

"Azulle, That bat just now!"

"Bat?" Azulle looks about and sees a collection of bats move about in the night's sky. When she suddenly sees one bat-like form flying with the tiny body of a small woman. "A monster!" Azulle crouches to leap at the creature that quickly notices her in turn.

"Ah, the Maid girl! I will defeat you as my lord commands!" The bat-like form of Eve dodges Azulle easily in the air and in turn, builds a fireball in its hands. Tossing it at the now falling maid.

Azulle lands and barely has time with even her speed to avoid a full-on hit of the small ball. But the blast still hits both the ground and her hard. With an explosion that sends all three heroes flying. Worse for the young maid girl her backside is scorched and she lets out a cry in pain. Cabbage takes action halting his sliding form with the scabbard of his sword as he unleashes it and thrusts forth at the tiny bat mage. His sword strikes the creature slicing it in half. But soon the two halve rejoin as quickly as they were separated. Causing the swordsman shock.

"Miss Ori, can you cast a spell to bless my weapon!" Cabbage shouts preparing for a second attack.

Ori, doesn't respond but takes action on doing what Cabbage requests. While Azulle tries to get over the pain of her wound and get to her feet. Trying to return to the way she was earlier in the evening to fight their new foe. But the bat fairy of Eve moves first sending out a bolt of lightning striking the swordsman with what looked like a small bolt but once it hit. The mountains light up from a massive burst of lightning erupting from the swordman's body. The bolt is so strong Cabbage has no strength over his body's movements and he can't even cry out in the sheer amount of pain. When the light faded his body still shuddering in jolts hits the ground as he is coughing and gasping for air.

Quickly in the threat of her ally Azulle, leaps but winces in pain as she does, and doesn't even get near to Eve before she collapses herself back into the still sizzling earth. Ori screams out. "Stop it you're our friend aren't you!" Azulle looks shocked by the goddess's words and looks up again at the bat creature and she finally sees the familiar look of the mage girl Eve.

"Eve… No, if you were changed then what of Gil and Kawa!" Azulle grunts out.

"The false one who knows. My job is to kill you, Maid Girl!" Eve shouts building a smaller rock into her hand. But before she can cast the spell is blasted from a gunshot. "Damn that bunny man and the cat girl. You won't be able to stop me from my duty!" She switches her action to a quicker spell launching it at Azulle but a sudden stretch of Armor and slime comes between the two absorbing the blast and shocking Azulle at the mysterious arm that goes just as quickly back to its armor-clad owner.

"Damn that hurt!" Noir states.

Shut up and move to help them or I will kick your ass shiteater!" Fran replies kicking Noir anyways forward. "I will deal with our bat friend." Fran clicks her gun and part of her body oozes out and pours into the slots for bullets. She cocks it and shoots. Eve dodges most of the blast but a gooey clump hits the tip of her left-wing causing her flying to be off.

"Damn you and your weird weapons. Catgirl." Eve grits her fangs and flops down on Cabbage's still twitching body.

"Fuck, this can be bad," Fran states dashing forth only to be halted by Azulle forcing her way between the two.

"I don't know who you are, but if this is our friend, we can't let you kill her!" Azulle winces as she faces Fran.

"Lay the Fuck down Eito! You're in no shape to be moving. And I am not going to kill her. But if she is what I think she may partly be then she may kill the moron swordsman!" Azulle looks in shock and as Fran moves closer, she recognizes the now cat-like form of her past friend Ryoko.

"Ryoko?"

"Yes, now get out of my way. I will heal your sorry ass after I deal with this fucking pint-sized bloodsucker!" Fran pushes by to where she kicks Cabbage hard and launches him in the air and a tiny Eve falls off from the spinning body of Cabbage in the air. Where Ryoko shoots the tiny fairy coating it in a ball of slime, and both bodies land in the thud.

Eve struggles to get off the ground pulling her body as best she can from the slime ball. "You damn Reformed. Why aren't you with our lord!"

"Hey, Shit eater! Cage this brat before I rethink my decision to not blast it with fire." Fran Snaps. Not wanting to piss off the gun-toting slime Noir reaches his hands out to collect and at the same time create shackles to hold the pint-sized mage from launching more of her powerful spells and to restrain her despite Eve thrashing about in defiance.

Azulle and Ori look in shock at the two slime allies' new forms. "Have you two always been able to do that?" Asks Ori.

"It's the fucking curse, Bard!" Fran replies.

"The Sanguine Rosewater, Lady Eve said to me. It's the name that they call the curse." Noir adds.

"What if my brother…" Azulle says worriedly.

"He and the ninja are hurt… but it looks like the curse for some reason doesn't affect either of them. But I took care of the one fucking poor soul that attacked the town." Fran states pulling out a cigarette from within her jacket, she shoots her gun off to light it and breaths in. "God did I miss a good smoke."

"I should get to healing Calico!" Ori states.

"Worry about Eito. The sword guy will be fine. I healed him when I kicked him. But guessing my stats I doubt I will have enough to deal more than with a few skills checks to heal you two before I get some rest in."

Both Azulle and Ori look puzzled at Fran's knowledge of how RPGs work. Fran sighs and pulls out a small doctor's notepad that is her character info. And the two girls both reply with an "Oh."

"Noir has one too, sort of." Noir holds out a small black detectives' notebook.

"Noir?" Azulle looks puzzled at the bunny armored man and then begins to crack up laughing at him.

"Shut up Eito Slut! Is this how you repay me for helping your stupid fantasy friends."

"Yup defiantly Noir. Or maybe we should call you Kuro-usa!" Azulle continues to chuckle and Fran laughs with her.

"Oh, Screw both of you!" Noir despite being in full armor shows how forms a pouty face on the helm. Causing the two to only laugh harder.

"I don't get it what does Kuro-Usa make you two laugh so much about this?" Ori asks puzzled.

"Awe look Eito the shit eater is even pouting!" Fran says laughing harder.

"Such a cute nickname for a dumb-looking suit of armor," Azulle says trying to calm herself down.

"Whatever Eito slut!" Noir states in disgust.

Time passes and the group is finally making its way through the forest into town when the dawn is finally breaking on this long horrible night. Ori had her leg splinted and is walking along with a barely conscious Cabbage, leaning on each other, and Noir is carrying both the captured Eve and injured Azulle. Fran is chuckling as she leads the party.

"Put me down this is embarrassing enough! I can walk." Azulle shouts.

"You think I like carrying you Eito Slut!" Noir says. But without even looking Ryoko responds in a way that causes him to try and hide his face from Azulles gaze.

"Your blushing Noir."

Suddenly while she had been mostly quiet and pouting Eve begins thrashing at her bindings. "Let me go You, foul-smelling bunny man!"

"Not happening, pixie mage!" Fran replies. "But Noir do the girl a favor and shield her from the light… and don't screw it up this time."

"Light but it's day and…"

"You guys haven't figured it out yet huh… She isn't just a fairy version of our mage…. She is also a vampire. I had my guess when I saw the bat wings and when you told me she bit you. But check Sword boy I confirmed that she tried to drink his blood to heal up during the fight. Lucky for you and I while we look human now, we still are fucking slimes."

Noir nods and wraps armor around Eve and she calms down. "But wait if Eve was messed up due to the curse like the others. Then, why are you two fine?" Askes Azulle.

"How the Fuck do I know!" Fran states. "I am just the Fucking Healer."

Ori slows her and Cabbage's movement and thinks. "Maybe the curse doesn't affect those from other worlds mentally."

"True, Alabaster said he was from another world, but while he too was cursed, he still was clear-minded." Cabbage wearily adds.

"But that doesn't explain why Gil and Kawa aren't affected?" Azulle states.

"Well, the Ninja, is always wearing all those disguises, so maybe they somehow could avoid the moonlight as long as they stay fully disguised. As for the prince…" Noir states.

"He isn't human…" Azulle depressingly sighs. But the group stands shocked. "It's only a thought but when we fought ten years ago, I saw Gil's face alter. And then there is the matter of what the Queen was."

"But surely the real queen was kidnapped and the monster that attacked was someone…" Cabbage states with a clearing mind.

"Stop for a second," Azulle shouts.

"We are almost to town and the others…" Fran sighs.

"Must not know. I want you all to agree to not tell my brother what I just said."

"Are you saying that the monster that was disguised as the queen was always the queen?" Cabbage asks Azulle.

"Look I know Gil well over these past sixteen years together. If he knew. He might…."

"He will stop this quest altogether." Noir sighs. "As much as I hate to agree with Eito Slut, I have seen how much doubt is in the young prince's heart. For him to know that he isn't human would cause him greater doubt and bring the kingdom into turmoil. Let alone drown any hope left in this world for a hero."

"Fine, we agree to keep our traps shut from now on! Got it!" Fran says and all four nod their heads but for a small chuckle within Noir.

"Oh, and what if I tell the half-breed prince on which side he really should be on. The little changeling." The tiny voice of Eve squeaks out. But she quickly gets an answer that without her seeing it Eve silences quickly with a clang and click across her makeshift cage.

"The others may give a damn about you tinker-ula, but I am not afraid to light your pixie ass up with fire and lead till one of those does the job in killing your tiny undead ass. Got me!" Fran states coldly and all of the group halts in fear.

"You can't watch me forever, catgirl! But fine I will sleep then to gain my strength to kill you all." Eve grumbles.

Soon the four continue their movement forth until they find Gil and Kawa both being fed by the town as the group rejoins and the small group of heroes finally get some overdue rest together.
