Chapter 3:

Worst Princess Carry Ever.

I Said Hate, Not Love!

At her home, Miko sat cross legged on the floor of her room. The space around her is cluttered with snacks, books, manga, and games. The only illumination coming from her tv across from her. Shining brightly onto her features as she sat there, playing a game while lost in thought.

“It’s late. Nearly midnight. But, I don’t want to sleep. I’m too mad for that crap.” Miko's thoughts wandered, her deep blue eyes reflecting the light from the screen in front of her.

Miko’s thoughts ran through what she had heard Ren say about her, and her face scrunched into frustration.

“I don’t care how popular you are, I am not interested in someone like that asshole.” she thought out loud, muttering to herself.

—--the next day—-

Miko’s phone alarm starts ringing loudly from beside her on the floor, causing Miko to jolt awake, sitting up from her position in front of her tv, frozen on the screen “You Died”.

“Shit! What time is it?” Miko thinks to herself, whipping around to check the time on her phone.

“There’s only an hour left until school starts?!” Miko shreeks in her mind, rushing to find her uniform from washing it when she got home the day prior.

“Shit! Come on! Where is it, where is it?!” Miko screams in her mind as she panickily throws her clothes around her room, while changing into fresh under clothes consisting of stockings, an under shirt, and fresh underwear.

“I know I left my uniform in my room last night, so where did I put it?” Miko wondered, getting her school bag ready while she looked for her uniform.

“Wait…” Miko stops dead in the middle of her room with a defeated look on her face.

Begrudgingly walking over behind her tv, Miko hesitantly reaches behind it, finding her uniform thrown behind the table it sat on.

“I hate everything.” Miko said out loud with a look of defeat written on her face.

Walking down her stairs towards her kitchen, Miko began making a quick bento for her lunch, while chewing on a piece of bread she picked out from a loaf in her bread box.

“I should still have enough time to make it by the first bell, so long as I'm not stopped by Satsuki…” Miko mutters to herself, knowing Erina is probably going to make her life miserable for the hottest guy in school saying he liked her of all people.

“I don’t even have an interest in people, let alone a total jerk like him.” Miko says to herself, finishing making her bento, and getting ready to leave.

“Especially him.” Miko thinks to herself with a rageful grimace.

Leaving her house, Miko runs down the street towards her school, sweating due to her significant lack of exercise.

“I…. Hate……..Running!” Miko complains to herself breathlessly as she rounds the corner of the street, marking she should be one block away from the school.

Running into someone with a resounding crash, causing her to fall onto the floor.

“Watch it! Y- O~h~! If it isn’t little miss, wrong freaking drink!” A familiar chilling voice chirps in a sickly sweet tone.

Standing above Miko, was the one person she didn’t want to run into on her way to school. Erina Satsuki.

Before Miko could say anything, Erina stomped her foot down onto Miko’s ankle.

“P-please, that hurts… Stop!” Miko yelps out, tears running down her cheeks, as her face scrunches up from the pain.

“Um…. No.” Erina retorts, looking down at Miko with a triumphantly viscous smile.

“You see, Ren, the boy you tricked into feeling sorry for you with your pathetic act, he’s mine. Understand?” Erina asks in a demanding tone, as though it was more of a command, than a question.

“You can have him, really. It would do me a huge favor.” Miko thinks to herself, as her expression shifts instantly from pain to a “are you serious” face.

“I-I really don’t-” Miko started, trying to explain herself.

“Save it!” Erina shouts, grabbing Miko by the tie of her uniform, and pulling her face in close. “If you EVER talk to him again, I will make your life here so much worse than what it is already.” Erina whispers with a sadistic grin.

Satisfied with Miko’s terrified expression, Erina releases Miko, and struts off towards the school.

“But I don’t WANT to talk to him.” Miko thinks to herself as she gets up and brushes herself off, before grabbing her bag, and trudging to school with an exasperated sigh.

Upon reaching her shoe locker, Miko opens it to find a bunch of scraps of paper falling out of it.

“Die” “Never talk to him again” “bitch” and more were written on each one.

As Miko starts clearing the notes from her locker with a solemn expression, her mind whirls with negative thoughts, and a strong desire to hit someone.

“Morning! Oniwa-oh….” a voice cuts off.

Looking to her side, towards the entrance to the school, Miko sees Ren standing there with a hurt face, his hand up from his attempt at a greeting.

Miko could only look at him with a look of hatred, as she crumpled one of the hurtful notes in her palm.

“What happened? Who did this?” Ren asked, walking up to Miko like she was a cat on its guard.

“You happened.” Miko whispered to herself, ignoring him, continuing to clear out her shoe locker so she could get to her indoor shoes.

Suddenly, Miko jolts, pulling her hand away from her locker out of pain, yelping, and clutching her hand.

Her palm had a large cut along its length, and was bleeding badly. Looking in her shoe locker, Miko spots a propped up razer blade hidden among the notes.

“Seriously? That’s a whole new level of petty! Even for those assholes!” Miko thought to herself, with an internal voice of both shock and frustration.

“Oniwara, are you ok? What happened? Why are you bleeding? Let me see.” Ren shouted with a worrisome tone, grabbing Miko’s cut hand to take a look.

Miko swiftly yanked her hand away, with an expression of pure disgust.

“What’s with this weirdo? I made it very clear I hate his guts!” Miko thinks to herself with surprise and anger.

“We should get you to the nurse, come on.” Ren exclaims as he grabs Miko’s other hand to take her to the nurses office.

Miko immediately yanked that hand away as well.

“First off, you can go. I don’t want you here. Second. I can’t even walk to the nurses office without my indoor shoes.” Miko whispers in an exasperated tone.

“Ok.” Ren responded bluntly, before quickly scooping Miko’s small frame off her feet into his arms.

“W-w-w-w–w-w-w WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!? PUT ME DOWN!” Miko shouted, practically clawing at Ren’s face as he began walking towards the nurses office.

“I’ll treat your wound, then search for your indoor shoes. You can’t safely get them out, anyways.” Ren replied

“But if people see you carrying me, my life is going to just become harder!” Miko complained, struggling to break free from being held.

“Is that so? But…. I want to help such a cute looking girl!” Ren said with a smile that could blind anyone.

“Then go help Erina. If you two started dating, she would actually leave me alone for a change.” Miko thought to herself with an irritated expression.

“I hate you.” Miko said instead, residing herself to her fate.

“I know! But I bet I can make you fall for me eventually!” Ren chuckles out as they reach the nurses office.

Ren sits Miko down on one of the chairs, before rushing back to the doorway.

“I’m going to run and grab your indoor shoes, and your bag! Ok?” Ren shouts, already running out into the halls.

“Don’t ask if it’s ok if you’re just going to leave anyways!” Miko screams internally, with a look of contempt in her eyes.

As Miko sat there lost in thoughts filled with anger, she failed to hear the footsteps of someone walking in.

“Didn’t I tell you not to talk to him?” Erina questioned, inches from Miko’s face with her friends blocking Miko’s exit.

“Don’t blame me! That asshole talked to me!” Miko shouted internally behind her scared expression.

“I-I tried to, but he saw me get cut, a-and wouldn’t just go away!” Miko squeaked out, trying to show Erina the bloody cut on her palm.

“I don’t care.” Erina states with a calm fury as she grabs Miko's hand, digging her nails into the open wound, causing Miko to stifle a scream of pain.

“How does that… lead to you getting princess carried through the hall?” Erina demands, digging her nails further into Miko’s wound.

“Please… let go… i-it hurts!” Miko cried out, desperate to get away.

“Make me.” Erina chided, finding it fun to watch Miko feel such pain.

Just as Miko began to cry, she felt Erina’s hand be pulled away from hers with excessive force.

“She said to let go.” Ren said, standing behind Erina, holding her wrist above her head, with a look of as though he was looking at living garbage.

Scared to speak, both out of making her crush angry, and because he genuinely looked terrifying, Erina and her friends all quickly left the classroom muttering confused insults towards Miko as they left.

Ren just looked on with an irritated expression. All Miko could do was stare, both out of shock, and slight fear about if he was somehow going to direct his anger at her.

“We should disinfect your wound, and clean it up.” Ren said in a low voice as he grabbed some rubbing alcohol and a rag.

“This is going to sting a little. Ok Oniwara?” Ren asked gently, pouring the alcohol onto the rag.

“Just do it. Not like it could be even more painful already.” Miko responded coldly, looking away.

As Ren applied the rag to her cut, Miko immediately jolted. On the outside, she looked completely unaffected, while on the inside, she was swearing like her life depended on it.

Finally, Ren bandaged up Miko’s hand, so she could still move it, but it was still tight.

“Feel any better?” Ren asked softly.

“Just so you know, this doesn’t change the fact that I hate you.” Miko whispered, just enough for Ren to hear.

“I know.” Ren said, kissing the back of Miko’s bandaged up hand.

Miko’s mind was racing in that moment, not out of hate, or anger, or frustration, but wondering what the warm feeling in her chest was. Before immediately shaking off said feeling, and instead shoved Ren away from her, before marching out of the nurses office with a look of pure rage in her eye.
