Meanwhile at the village of Thorne, Teeg was fighting the monsters that had invaded the village where the numbers were unusually many.

“Urg, I don’t think I’ll be able to finish them on my own. I hope that Frank returns quickly with the backup. With this rainy weather, it might take a while longer.”

Suddenly, all the monsters around him disappeared.

“What in the world? Don’t tell me that they were being controlled?”

A voice from a woman behind Teeg answered the question that he had spouted out loud.

“Yes, darling! Surely they were!”

Looking around, Teeg’s face turned pale.

“Damn! Today is just not my day!”

“Long time no see, Sir. Teeg! Missed me!”

Behind him stood a tall slender beauty dressed in a black dress, long enough to reach her ankles. The dress had a short slit up to her knee on the left side that left a gap for a person to be able to see her leg tied with black sandal strips.

Her long nails and lips were colored black and so was her hair. She moved rather elegantly in contrast to her appearance.

“What are you doing here, Freya? Why hurt innocents when they’ve done you no harm?”

“Still the same old Teeg I see? Do I need a reason to have fun?”

“Don’t be a monster, Freya. You have no right to mess with their lives.”

“And what right do you have to mess with mine.” Freya retaliated immediately. “We were only sent here with one goal. We were not told to live as one with these lawless people. We were given orders to dominate.”

“It only takes logic to know what is right or not. Can’t you be a little bit more humane?”

“Oh shut it! You know what, enough talk! Let’s communicate with our actions. I was thinking of adding you to my crew, but I think I’ll try old James instead.”

Freya lifted up her right arm with her left on her visibly curvy hip as she looked up to Teeg.

“Army of Knights!”

A couple of humanoid monsters clad in heavy armour standing about ten feet tall and three tiger-like monsters standing on all fours about 4 feet tall appeared and got closer to Teeg.

“This is the best you can do?” Teeg mocked.

“Oh darling! There’s a lot where that came from. But I doubt you’ll even clear these ones.”

The tall knights unsheathed their swords and stood in front of Teeg who readied his weapon too as the tigers surrounded him from other angles.

All the tigers charged in towards Teeg one aiming for the legs and the others, the torso and the head. At the same time, the humanoids charged in, one behind the other.

“All at once, huh? Be patient! One at a time!” Teeg said as he focused on the humanoids.

“Eternal Blunder!”

A huge pitfall filled with spikes into which the tigers fell appeared in a circle around him leaving a platform in the middle where he and the humanoids remained.

“One With Earth!”

The ground went back to its original form, swallowing the tigers whole.

“Ohh! Not bad!” Freya, who was sitting up on a cliff, praised sarcastically.

One of the humanoids attacked with two successive diagonal slashes that Teeg easily parried to the sides.

Meanwhile the other humanoid attacked from Teeg’s side bringing a thrust towards him. He merely pivoted to his right, avoiding the thrust and repositioned himself in front of the humanoids that had also repositioned themselves.

“This is a waste of time!”

“Earth-Bound!”

Pillars of rock emerged from the ground and tied them up, rendering them immobile.

“One with Earth!”

The pillars that were binding the humanoid monsters pulled them back in the ground, burying them alive.

No sooner had he finished than other monsters, about a hundred or so, surrounded him.

“You aren’t giving me a chance of rest, are you?”

“It’s your fault dear. You should have gone down the first time.”

“Then let me just do it all over!”

“Might Of Odin!”

Danny shouted as he gathered large amounts of energy from his body.

He pulled his fist backwards to launch his attack. The air formed a spiral around him. Large rocks shook and small ones rose from the ground.

“That definitely can’t be good.”

Phillip said as he tried to get out of the way but was too late.

An enormous blast of force was released when Danny threw his punch towards Phillip on the other side. The forest that was behind Phillip was flattened up to about 3km inside creating a deep crater within the first kilometer.

The force not only affected the forest but also the weather itself. The effects of the force ascended, clearing the clouds in its way. It suddenly stopped raining and the evening sky was sean clearly.

“In the end, he was merely bluffing. He didn’t even need to join us. He’s too weak to do so.” James mocked.

Before the dust settled down, three fire attacks shaped like spears came out of the dust accumulated area with the first one grazing Danny’s cheek leaving a burnt cut.

Danny suddenly evaded the next one by bending backwards, but unfortunately, in the direction that he went was the trajectory of the last spear aiming at the left side of his ribs.

Not having enough time to recover, he folded his right hands into a fist and twisted his torso to gain adequate momentum to rival that of the spear.

On impact, there was a loud explosion that caused intense amounts of heat to radiate to the surroundings. Danny was blown a good distance away.

There was silence as both sides allowed the dust to settle. After some time, there we saw the young lad Phillip kneeling on one knee on an extended platform of land around which was a deep crater.

“Don’t tell me that he can use… no, no, no, it can’t be! That’s incredibly rare even in—”

“You’ve shown me yours, it's finally time to show you mine!”

James’ thoughts were cut short by the youngster standing on the island in the middle of the crater.

Phillip stood up with confidence, having less bruises than expected from that attack.

“How did you do that? Why aren’t you severely hurt?” James inquired the young lad.

“What is it to you?”

“Your impudence will kill you?” James, then turning to Danny said, “Danny, show him no mercy!”

Danny stood up as if he was just warming up. He dashed ahead towards Phillip with incredible speed getting ready to throw another fearsome attack.

Phillip lifted his right arm to shoulder height and stretched it in front.

“Realm Of Possibility!”

The surroundings warped to a black space with very many blue wavy forms shining visibly. The blue forms were shaped like people, two people throughout, fighting each other and those shapes resembled those of Phillip and Danny.

“What in the world is this?”

Danny stopped in his tracks as he witnessed his new surroundings in wonder.

“Welcome to the realm of possibility. All these blue images that you see, are me and you, the possible outcomes of our fight.”

Looking around, he saw a variety of showcases, one where he would land a fist on Phillip’s head and smash it in, another where he would be stabbed in the heart with a flame spear, another one where they fight till their surroundings become physically distorted and each loses a limb and many others that he couldn’t access properly.

“Why tell me all this?” Danny asked, being wary of the situation.

“You asked?” Phillip said as he let out a slight chuckle.

“No! Seriously! Why?”

“I have no reason to fight you. I brought you here to talk with you. This environment isn’t suited for attack, but for survival.”

“Then why bring me here?”

“This place cuts off all the external links. It is a rift devoid of time.”

“You know?” James, looking confused, asked Phillip. “How?”

“It was too obvious, especially your changes in expression.”

Danny, looking convinced by Phillip’s answer, introduced a new topic.

“Was this how you escaped from us? But I saw you dead. How?”

“I’ll tell you everything, but in return, I need you to answer all of my questions.”

Back at the base, Frank got some clothes left behind by his fallen comrades, tied them together to form longer fabrics.

He then wrapped all the bodies and carried them one by one to the other side of the pond. He dug graves for every corpse in an open field beyond the maple tree and placed piles of rocks near every grave that he had dug. There were about 40 graves that he dug.

For his good friend, he moved a large rock near his grave, and carved the words “Beloved friend and brother” on it.

He went back to the cave after placing some flowers onto the grave stones and while touching the water in the pond, he reformed its shape like that from a hose and thoroughly cleaned the base ridding it of every blood stain and smell.

“The girl must be related to this occurrence. That means it hasn’t been long since she was here. I’ve got to find her as soon as I can.” Phillip thought as he placed his hand on the maple tree to activate the illusion.

“I’m sure the old man will get my message. But I hope he’s okay.”

Phillip turned his back to the maple tree, saying;

“Farewell! My home!”

In the village of Thorne, the fight was reaching its end.

“Don’t tell me that you are already tired. I still have more than half of the monsters I’ve brought out so far.”

“You’re kidding, right? I knew that I would lose in a contest of endurance, but not by this much. I can barely see anything. She definitely has grown a lot stronger.”

Teeg thought as he made a roll somersault to evade a horizontal slash from a humanoid monster. He then placed his sword over his head to block an overhead strike, but all in vain. His sword which had fended as many attacks as those of an entire army had gotten dented all over. On impact, Teeg’s sword was broken into two.

Teeg hurried to evade the sword attack that was aimed for his head and stamping the ground, he summoned a large rocky spike that penetrated the humanoid monster’s torso.

“Huff!... Huff!... No progress at all!... Huff!... But no need to fret! ...Huff! ...After all..”

Teeg, out of breath, talked to Freya.

“...my comrades are coming soon!”
