Chapter 9:

Chapter 6 - Meet And Hangout With The Kids, I said

Shadowed Love

“Hey. Stop what you are doing. Immediately.” I heard a voice from our left. It’s familiar and–I looked at who it was and Xavier! I looked at him with my eyes, begging him to help me.

Amadeus didn’t even bother looking at him and I could feel his teeth piercing through my neck. I just closed my eyes in helplessness when I heard a soft ‘bang’ and the teeth were finally not piercing through me.

I opened my eyes only to see some orange tulip petals on the floor, Xavier holding the broken bouquet on my right, and Amadeus looking at him like he wanted to kill Xavier right here, right now.

“Didn’t I say to stop?” Xavier asked and grabbed my hand and hid me behind his back.

“But I was thirsty.” Amadeus answered with a whining voice. “If you ever ruin my feast during heat again, I will break the contract and kill you on the spot.” His whining voice earlier turned into a threatening voice, but Xavier did not falter. I grabbed a water hose and pointed it at Amadeus and turned it on.

“Hey! Stop it!” he said, but I just continued on pointing it at him. “Did you stop when I told you to stop earlier?” I said and turned the density of the water higher.

“What was that for?” he said once I stopped. “Huh? Didn’t you say you were in heat and thirsty? Here, this is two in one.” I said, and turned on the hose again.

“I mean I am thirty for blood!” he said while blocking the water from his face.

“Then why don’t you drink yours, you perveted fucker!” I replied, then turned the density higher and wet him full of rage.

“Stop, Catte. Amadeus, the emperor’s calling for us.” Xavier interfered and turned off the hose for me.

Amadeus was panting really hard while looking like a wet Shih Tzu. “The emperor?” he repeated.

“Yes, so come on.” Xavier pulled his brother’s hands. “Hey Catte, you were the first one to reject me while in heat and wanted to drink your blood. Others might have even offered themselves to me. Tell me Catte, are you really a vampire?” he asked me. I was stunned and couldn’t answer him, but thank goodness Xavier pulled him inside to circle and leave the apartment.

“I hope you will fall down from the horse and get kicked by it. Just go die, fucker.” I mumbled and swept all the petals. I don’t want to keep the untouched flowers now, felt like he only did it for me just to have my blood. What a motherfucker.

“Oh Catte, did it go well?” auntie Tina asked me when I greeted her at the gate.

“Yep, just kind of frustrating, Auntie.” I said, feeling down. “Huh? Why? What happened?” she asked while we were walking back to the door.

“Amadeus almost attacked me. He said he was in heat and wanted my blood.” I explained, trying not to remember what happened earlier.

“He was in heat!? Oh no, I’m sorry Catte, I shouldn’t have let him be alone with you. I should have known.” Auntie apologized but I don’t think it was her fault, so I calmed her down and tapped her back. “It’s not your fault Auntie, he was just a perveted old man.”

“By the way, this apartment is too big for an apartment. This literally looks like a mansion!” I exclaimed, changing the subject.

“It is because this is really built like a mansion. We just decided to make it an apartment since we came upon a financial problem, so here we are….” She answered and chuckled because of how amazed I acted.

“That’s amazing, Auntie. By the way, please have your rest first.” I said and pointed my arms at the stairs like a butler. She just chuckled and bid goodbye.

I was about to go to my room too, but I thought staying in my room after that situation would just make me feel worse. So I just changed my clothes into maong pants with oversized shirt and half-tucked it then wore my white sneakers. I grabbed my green sling bag and put my wallet in it.

“Hi auntie! I’ll just go outside for a walk. Bye!” I said outside Auntie Tina’s door and went downstairs to drink water first.

I went outside and decided to go to a park and bought a crepe. There are swings, slides, and seesaws like in a ordinary park. I sat on the swing and swayed it backward and forward. Do they also have dwarves here? I got stiff from that thought at the same time, a voice was heard, “Hey…” it was a child’s voice. I stopped biting my crepe and stayed still.

“Hey, hey…” I heard the voice again. I still didn’t move and after that I just landed on the ground on my butt. What the fuck, why is it always my butt!?

“Hey! Oh no, my crepe!” I said when I saw my crepe on the ground.

“Oh why, why won’t you just answer me? Are you deaf?” I heard a child’s voice again and I saw two children on my right, averaging 7 years of age.

“Why do you need to push me? Look at my crepe, it’s on the grass!” I was talking to the little girl while caressing my butt and having my other hand on my waist.

“Because you won’t answer us. And it’s just cheap, you can just buy a new one. Oh, come on, we will treat you.” She said and held my arm, then pulled me.

“Wait, Sam. Don’t we have any money?” the little boy stopped her from walking.

“Oh, yeah right. I forgot.” She said and turned to look at me. “I’m sorry, I forgot we don’t have any money. We are just poor little kids.” She added like she just realized that they are ‘poor’.

“Awww, are you poor? What a poor girl. Fine, I will just treat you two since I’m pretty.” I said and held both of their hands on each side. Yep, I have the guts to say they are poor and treat them when I am even poorer than them.

“What flavor do you want?” I asked them when we arrived at the crepe stall.

“I want an assorted fruit crepe!” the little girl answered and pointed at the stand. “Mine’s an ice cream crepe!” the little boy said.

“Why are you saying it to me? Am I the one who’s selling?” I asked them and their faces turned smug before the little girl answered.

“It’s because you asked us.”

Their orders are really expensive. I mean, it’s more expensive than my crepe earlier.

After that, we sat on a bench in the park to eat their crepes there. “You won’t even let me have a taste?” I asked the two, casually eating their crepes. “Eh? Why didn’t you buy them for yourself? You have your money.” The girl answered and had a bite of the crepe in slow-motion.

“Do you know how expensive that is?” I said and turned away. “But you said to pick what we want.” She answered back. Of course, I wouldn’t let myself down and retaliated with, “Whatever.”

“Hey, say ‘ahhhhhh’” the boy held the crepe in front of my mouth, so I opened my mouth and he put it inside, then I took a bite.

“Thank goodness this little boy didn’t inherit your selfishness.” I told the little girl and I pinched the little boy’s cheeks.

“It’s because you are nice and you bought him a crepe. He would have done it too if you were another kidnapper.” She said and just continued to casually eat her crepe. “But I am no kidnapper.” I said while looking at the two.

“Then say ‘ahhhh’” she also did what the boy did earlier, so I opened my mouth and took a bite, then pinched her cheeks.

“You’re not that bad.” I commented while chewing the crepe. “It’s because I’m not.”

“Oh right, what’s your name?” I said and simply took a bite of the girl’s crepe.

“Eh, I’m Samantha Nicole Lim, and he’s Michael Lim.” She pointed at the little boy in front of me who was currently raising his hand.

“Lim? Are you perhaps a relative of Xavier Lim?” I curiously asked, as they have the same surname. “Yep! He is our uncle—uncle!” Samantha waved behind me. I looked back and saw Xavier wearing a cap and walking towards us.

“You’re here! Do you know this girl? She treated us to a crepe because I scammed her and said we were just poor.” Samantha said as if she was really happy and bragging, not about being treated, but about how she scammed me. I turned to look at her when I heard what she said.

“Hey Samantha, my name’s Catte Lhein Anatalia, not ‘this girl’, okay?” I said, then she just nodded.

“Older sis Talia, are you an acquaintance of uncle Xavier?” Michael asked me and I was confused who he was calling ‘Talia’.

“Who is Talia?”

“You.” He said and pointed his index finger at me. “Me?”

“Yup, your surname is Anatalia, so Talia for short. Hehe.” He said and smiled like an innocent child.

“Oh, how cute.” I commented and also smiled because of how he shortened my surname and also because of his cute smile. “Yep, I’m cute.” He said and I got shocked when he suddenly hugged me.

“Are you sure you are cute?” I asked and slightly hugged him back. Hugging a child is really comfortable. “Yep, you’re cute too, older sis Talia.” He said and tightened the hug even more.

“Oh my god Kael! Do you like older sis Talia!?” Samantha asked with a shocked tone. “Hm…?” he turned to look at her. “I mean, you don’t usually say that other people are cute except me.” Samantha explained while smiling.

“yep, I like her a bit. She’s pretty and kind. You will be my wife in the future, okay? So stay by my side.” He said and hugged me again, tapping my back, which made me chuckle. Does a child, averaging 6-7 years old, usually still in this kind of phase?

“Hey, Kael, let go of her. We will go to the mall.” Xavier interfered and grabbed Michael’s hands.

“Yehey! Let’s go!” Samantha exclaimed, excitedly and jumped. “Older sis Talia, come with us.” Michael held my hand and pulled me.

“They are your nephew and niece?” I asked Xavier for confirmation. “Yeah, they’re my cousin’s children. I was told to babysit them for 5 hours since they have urgent work to do.” He said. “Ohhh…” I replied and we continued to walk.

“By the way, I thought you were summoned by the emperor?” I asked when I suddenly recalled what happened earlier.

“It’s just my brother. By the way, are you okay?” he asked and looked at me.

“Yep, thanks for earlier.” I said and gave him a thumbs up.

“That’s great.” He replied and the walk to the mall was quiet and Samantha and Michael were the only ones talking about how excited they were, especially Michael, who said he couldn’t wait to play with me.

“Here we are!” Samantha excitedly entered the mall and straightly ran to the arcades.

“Older sis Talia, play with me!” Michael pulled me to a gun VR something. “Let’s be partners.” He said and gave me a gun like an old acquaintance in the mafia.

Michael just had fun popping balloons on the screen and was really giggling like a cute little child.

After that, we played a bunch of games in the arcade and even won some prizes.

“Where do you want to eat?” Xavier asked the two once we got out of the arcade.

“Chicken!” Michael was the first one to answer and Samantha immediately agreed. “Yup! Chicken!”

“Okay then, come on.” He said and held Samantha’s hands while I held Michael’s.

All the time we were walking, each person we passed always looked back at me like they were thinking ‘who is this woman and who does she think she is?’. That time, I just remembered that Xavier is a prince and someone who is respected, I must have had so much fun earlier that I forgot about it.

“Good evening, your majesty. Your VIP room is ready.” The lady was about to walk and guide us to the room she was talking about when Xavier talked. “We will just sit here.” He and Samantha were already seated at the left side of the restaurant and were fixing themselves.

“U-uh, no… we have already arranged the room for you. So may you pl—“

“I said we will stay and eat here.” Xavier firmly cut what the lady was supposed to say and pulled me and Michael to sit.

“Okay, I am sorry for irritating you, your majesty.” The lady said and gave us the menu before she left. “I am not pissed at all. When will this stop?” I heard him mumbling and leaning to Samantha to show her the menu. I did the same to Michael.

We are currently on a square table, Michael is beside the wall and I’m on his left, while Xavier is sitting in front of me and Samantha on his left.

“We will take this meal. Is there anything else you want?” Xavier said and pointed at a picture on a menu.

“Uh…. What meat is that?” I asked, just in case it was any meat. “Chicken and crocodile.”

“Oh…. Chicken… I’m okay with that.” I answered and smiled.

“I want ice cream!”

“Me too! Milkshake!” both of the children exclaimed and pointed each at the menu.

“All right.” Xavier replied and raised his hand to call for the waitress.

“Yes, your majesty?” she said while slightly bowing. Seriously, even I, would get tired of it if every time someone called me ‘your majesty’. Now I understand what Xavier was saying the other day.

“We will take this A4 meal and one chocolate ice cream and a strawberry blood milkshake,” he said normally. Others would have had a monotone or uninterested voice but I guess he has got used to it now. Just how much patience does he have?

“Is that all, your majesty?”

“Yes.” He nodded and gave the menu to the lady. “All right, please excuse me.”

“Hey Xavier, don’t you ever get irritated?” I asked when the lady left.

“Huh?”

“I mean, didn’t you say that you already told them to stop calling you that? Your patience is really a thing.” I said and looked at him with amazement.

“Oh that…. I just got used to it. No use dwelling on that uncontrollable stuff.” He said like it was a simple thing.

“Yep, uncle Xavier just got used to it and you are the first that I know that called him just by his name.” Michael interfered.

“Michael’s right. Every time we go out with uncle Xavier, what I can always hear is ‘your majesty’ so my ears get really tired and used to it.” Samantha added.

“But sometimes you will just get annoyed because there’s something like ‘your majesty’ ‘your majesty’ your majesty’ that always rings in your ear.” Michael also said, raising his hand halfway on each side of his ears to emphasize ‘your majesty’.

“Yep, that’s why we don’t turn our heads to someone who says ‘your majesty’.” Samantha added and we just laughed.

The food arrived after a while and I was shocked when their head chef personally served us the food. I looked at Xavier with shocked eyes but he just acted simply. What a big shot he is.

“Hey, old sis Talia and Samantha, and Uncle Xavier. Let’s buy these matching clothes!” Michael said and tugged on to my shirt and pointed at the clothes hanging on the mannequin.

Seriously, that’s for a family of four!

“Michael, we c—“ Xavier was cut off by Samantha’s cheery answer. “Okay! That looks great! Let’s buy it!” and she looked at me and Xavier with pleading eyes.

“No, I don’t want to.” He straightly said with a straight face.

“Old sis Talia…….. Please…..??” the two looked at me with puppy eyes while tugging at my shirt. “Uh……” I looked at Xavier, who was looking at me with a ‘reject them’ look.

“Okay……” I said and looked at Xavier, who just sighed. I can’t help it. I mean, who could reject such cute kids?

In the end, we bought it and we shopped for about an hour more because of Michael pointing out so many things he wanted like a spoiled brat, but Xavier just let him be since he was still a child.

And of course, since I don’t have any money yet, Xavier paid for it all. If I said all, I meant all of our expenses today that I somehow felt bad that I tagged along and made him take out some more of his money.

“Old sis Talia, will we ever meet again?” Michael exaggerated his words while we were standing in front of the apartment.

“What? Of course, it’s not like I’m going to disappear all of a sudden.” I said and chuckled.

“And if you want, you can just come here and look for me. I will always be here.” I added, and his face lit up immediately.

“Really?” he asked for confirmation, so I smiled. “Yep.”

“Okay! See you next time, old sis Talia! I can’t wait for our marriage!” he said happily and I just chuckled when he mentioned ‘marriage’.

“Bye old sis Talia!” Samantha waved her hand and I waved back. “Bye! Bye Xavier!” he waved back. “Go back to your room first.” He said.

“Huh? No, you can go first.” I replied and smiled. “No.”

“Okay then…” I said and walked towards the door. I greeted auntie and went upstairs to my room. It looked like they were looking at the window because I saw them wave at me before walking away.

“Ahh……..” I tiredly changed my clothes. I didn’t do anything else because of tiredness and just went to sleep.
