Skills- You can equate them to trades IRL. Something that Is taught and learned through trial and error. It can be easier for others but It still must be learned. Some Skills can be learned/mastered in weeks or months but others can sometimes take YeaRs to learn let alone master.

EXAMPLE:

Sword Skill- Slash

This Is something anyone can learn. You just need to invest time to learn It. There are people In the world that are significantly better at doing this Skill and can teach you way better than let’s say a book or watching a video equivalent.

Materia- You can think of this like magic with a fancy name. This Is something you are born with, CAN NOT BE LEARNED! It comes In a wide variety of power/usefulness. When you are born with Materia you also have a Materia pool, think of It as an invisible magic bar inside of the person. When It reaches zero, no more Materia/Materia attacks.
