Chapter 0:

One Who Regard The Heroes

Pilgrimage of The Guilty Hero

" A hero is a great person who saves others and defeats evil. I want to become one if I can. It's my longtime dream, but only the otherworlders are able to become heroes. On this planet, what they refer to as a hero will be summoned to compete against each other for the Throne of Ascendancy. If one ascends to the throne and becomes the monarch, they have the power to grant any wish they please. Only heroes have the right to sit on that throne. I am always being told that I should regard the heroes and give them the utmost respect that I can give. Or so that it should be. "

The rain pours down, and the chill of the raindrops dyes my hair. Droplets from the ocean's ebb and flow are slapping across my flesh. The clouds are hazy and dark grey in tone. In the puddles of his own blood, the guy sprawled on the ground of this peninsula. Any part of his body was either cut, ripped apart, or stabbed with knives that still pierced his skin.

Even though it was pouring, the air was suffocating. Every time I breathe on this planet, I feel disgusted. When I saw the figure I despised in front of me, my disdain grew even more. When he raised his head, our gazes locked. His blue eyes would soon cease to function, as would his consciousness. I raised my gun and aimed it at his face. For the next five minutes, none of us said anything to each other. At last, he opened his mouth and tried to speak a couple of words.

"Fuck You!"

Those were his first words after the battle. What a farce it was when the hero who was supposed to restore humanity turned out to be a loser with a foul tongue. I was approached by a knee-high working robot. Despite the fact that he's only a lump of iron, the manner in which he smashes my leg shows his rage.

"Now you're even telling this toy to try to kill me." I uttered that while trying not to chuckle.

Let's end this now. I still have a couple more heroes to murder anyway.

"Just get a rest in the depths of hell; you can rent a room there, right?" "Good night, Mister Hero." When I pressed the trigger on the gun, a laser beam pierced this guy's skull.

Honestly, I wouldn't have given him an easy death if I hadn't been in a hurry.

This is an abhorrent world. Those who are venerated as heroes abound on this planet. They are praised by those who are morally degenerate. And all they do is fulfil their selfishness. They started wars in the name of noble deeds. However, in the end, what they wanted was to ascend to that throne.

If they're called heroes, I'm the villain. I am the villain who will murder every protagonist in the stories. I would have thrown aside all those silly dreams to become one of them if I had known sooner that it was a futile dream. There's no point in being a hero. What this world needs are villains. Maybe she would still be alive if I had realised it sooner. If only I hadn't been a foolish dreamer in the past, my brothers and sisters at church would be smiling every day and living their lives to the fullest every day. My fellow adventurers would still be by my side right now if I had never trusted the heroes. And she... will she be mesmerised when she sees the ocean on the edge of this peninsula?

No... In fact, I had once a doubts, but I ignore them. How foolish...

I regret this life. Why am I the only one alive? Why am I the only one left alive among us? If I tell my story, people who listen to me will absolutely become bored. It was a long trip, aint't it?

****
It was the day I listened to the sister in the church tell a story. And it was at that point that I began to admire and then despise heroes...
