Chapter 1:

Part 1 - Chapter 1: Nightmares

Devine Murders

Shio woke up. He sat on his bed, and his eyes shot open. All around his room were body parts. Organs, legs, arms, and blood everywhere. In the middle of the room stood a girl with pink hair. Both of her eyes were dark blue, and she stared at Shio.
“Azu? Is that you?” Shio said.
The girl nodded and said 2 words. “Find me.”

Shio shot up from his bed as he awakened. He looked around his room, and everything seemed to be normal. He let out a sigh of relief and rubbed his head.
“Another bad dream. Why was it about Azu though?” He thought to himself.

Azu was the cute, and shy girl in his class. She always sat in the back, and the other kids picked on her. Shio became friends with her, and they hung out a lot. Out of nowhere, Shio got a letter from Azu saying that she moved. Azu’s house was empty. Nobody inside. It was almost as if nobody lived there in the first place. Nobody remembered Azu, apart from Shio. It was like she left without a single trace. Shio didn’t think too much of Azu’s statement. Plus, how was Shio going to find her anyway? She moved to the US, and that’s way too far away from where Shio lives. Shio lived in a nice apartment with his dad and little sister.

Shio did his regular morning routine. Changing into his school uniform, brushed his teeth, fixed his hair, then headed downstairs to get something to eat. He sat down at the table in the kitchen as his dad set down a plate in front of him. The plate consisted of eggs, bacon, and toast. The perfect breakfast one could say. Shio munched on his bacon while his little sister, Hiroko, sat down beside him. Their dad set a plate down in front of her with the same things Shio had. She squealed then started eating, which is something that she would’ve done 3 months ago.

One day Hiroko came home with bruises all over her, and a depressed look. She wouldn’t tell anybody what happened, or who did that to her. She just stood there with a depressing look. She used to be such a happy girl. Anyways, after Shio finished eating, he grabbed his backpack and headed on out of their apartment and to the bus stop.

Shio stared at his phone screen, as somebody crept up behind him.

“Aha!” The figure yelled. “I got you now!” The figure jumped at Shio. Shio simply just sidestepped and the person fell to the ground. “Ow. That hurt Shio!”

Shio chuckled. “Don’t try to sneak attack me like that then Jiro.”

Jiro stood up and huffed. “I’ll get you some time." Jiro immediately stood still as he looked at the girl that was walking up behind Shio.

Shio knew who was approaching. He could tell by the smell. That beautiful smell. Shio turned around and smiled.

“Morning Aneko!”

Aneko smiled back. “Morning sweetums.” She squished his cheeks. “How did you sleep?”

They both talked back for a little while. Jiro seemed bored now. Aneko was a tall pretty girl, with short pink hair, big round glasses, cute little earrings, and always smelt like strawberries. After waiting for 20 minutes, the bus finally arrived. The bus was always late, so they expected 20 minutes. After a bus drive that felt like it would never end (for Jiro at least), they all hopped off and headed on into their school.

Sakura High School. The high school where only the best were allowed in. Shio, Jiro, and Aneko luckily made it into this amazing school. It’s one of the best in the state. Everybody knew about Sakura High School. It’s known for having teachers that were experts. Not a single person has ever failed a class. Everybody who graduates from this school always ends up being the job they wanted to be. Doctor, firefighter, police officer, lawyer, and even computer scientist. Sakura was a huge school. 4 floors, and almost 6 acres of land. There was so much to do, and explore. At every door was a police officer who checked every person's bag. Nobody knew why this was a thing, but people don’t mind it. They have nothing to hide. Hopefully. The school campus is filled with guards. The guards are loaded head to toe with armor. At this school, there was a football field, soccer field, tennis court, baseball field, and an ice hockey rink.

Shio walked to class with his friend and girlfriend. They joked around but walked in a straight line just like the rules say to do. All three of them made their way inside their science class. They all had the first class together, but everything else was different. The only other thing the three had together was lunch. Shio plopped down at his desk and looked around the room. He rested his head down and closed his eyes for a second. Once he opened them back up, the room was dark red. He jolted up, and blood was all over the classroom. There were skeletons everywhere, and guts hanging from the ceiling. Shio’s eyes were glued to Azu, who was standing next to her old desk. She stared at him, and he stared at her. She walked over to another desk and sat down.

“Why me? What did I ever do to deserve such a terrible fate? I never did anything wrong. I was always nice. Where did everything go wrong?” She said quietly.

Shio started to shake in fear. “Azu? Are you ok?”

Azu quickly turned her head to Shio. Her face had a huge stab wound right in the middle of it. She had no eyes, and blood was pouring out of her eye socket. She said those same 2 words from his previous nightmare. “Find me.”

Then the room went to normal, and Shio found himself staring at Aneko’s desk. She was staring at him with a confused face.

“Are you ok Shio?” Shio nodded.

“Yeah. I’m fine.” He stood up and walked over to Azu’s old desk, which now belonged to Aiko. Shio squatted down and looked under her desk. Yep. There it is. Shio’s first clue.
