State of The World

In the late 21. Century the world changed dramatically.

Humanity has made far too few leaps in growth compared to the previous century, to put it plainly… mankind became stagnant.

With no new improvements and standard of life growing at an unprecedented rate those dwelling on this planet became disinterested in the advancement of their race.

Seeing this as a perfect opportunity to charge in and take possession of a valuable planet such as earth, several extraterrestrial races decided to invade our planet.

The invaders, although highly intelligent and meticulous beyond the scope of human understanding had made a fatal flaw in their calculations.

The progress of mankind not only faltered but also regressed far lower than the invaders could ever predict. Due to this miscalculation, on the North American continent, in order to suppress the invasion, the president of the United States decided to launch most of their nuclear arsenal.

In this act of unpredictable stupidity, over one hundred ships were destroyed. However, the entirety aof North America became an irradiated wasteland.

With the destruction of the main invading force the rest of the army, not wanting to lose even more of the precious territory, opted for various more peaceful options.

Majority of the remnants descended in Rome and were soon given asylum by Vatican.

Due to political scheming an agreement was formed between the Catholic Church and the invaders. In return for advanced technology that aliens provided to them, Catholic Church implemented new equality laws that gave aliens Vatican citizenship and promised them their independent place within the society.

Mostly because of preexisting conflict between the Catholic Church and non-Catholic religions, Russia, Turkey and Great Britain alongside various smaller countries mostly situated in the Eastern Europe and the Middle East became extremely xenophobic and opted for resistance against the Vatican.

Under the management of pope Xeno I. and under the pretext of freeing their comrades in Ireland from the British occupation, Vatican launched the First Neo Crusade. Since Crusaders were armed with alien weaponry Britain was demolished with ease.

Returning from the First Neo Crusade, fueled by bloodlust, crusaders ravaged France.

A year from then remaining countries of Europe made an alliance to stop the rule of Vatican. The alliance had over eight million soldiers. Vatican sent out just one of their thirteen divisions and soon enough those eight million soldiers became eight million corpses.

Overwhelmed by this power smaller countries of Europe gave up and surrendered to Vatican.

Pope sent out the Second Neo Crusade to pacify the remaining territories of Europe. This resulted in deaths of almost fifty million people, most of them innocent.

Vatican annexing most European countries leading to the formation of a Breaking Line, imaginary line that separates the territories of Vatican Empire and the so called Pagan Lands.

Smaller, primitive and more durable groups of Invaders settled in the more inhospitable regions of our planet. Deserts of Africa and Australia, as well as frozen icecaps remained mostly untouched by human hand and those groups thought they have found a new haven where they could live in peace.

Unfortunately for them… they were not that lucky.

Criminals and poachers quickly found a way of hunting down those primitive and unintelligent tribes that had very little organization and almost no advanced technologies. These Invaders were mostly sold in Asia, primarily in China, North and South Korea.

In the early years Chinese and Korean scientists, moved by this great opportunity, studied tribal invaders in great details trying to find a way to transfer their overwhelming strength to their military.

Not even a year passed and in China one of the corpses that was disposed improperly found its way in food for general public. Changes in citizens who ate this food were hardly noticeable at first, but after three months they couldn’t be overlooked. For most citizens it manifested with a growth of scales over their skin and a sudden sensitivity to light. Vast majority of these people survived and have shown massive improvement in their overall physical strength, reflexes and agility. Authorities in China decided to apply this strengthening method to a majority of their army.

Three years after this discovery both China and North Korea had an army of augmented humans. South Korea still had doubts about this untested technique and refused to augment their soldiers.

Somewhere around the turn of the century four North Korean augmented soldiers were trapped in a cave-in. Due to a lengthy excavation only one of them survived, and he did that by eating the flesh of his comrades. Oddly enough, his strength increased exponentially, but he was overwhelmed by a strong desire to eat the flesh of humans and augmented humans.

Not even a year passed since that Unknown Soldier went out of the cave and most of Asia was in shambles. Augmented who ate the flesh of other augmented turned less and less human the more they ate and soon enough lost all sense of reason that differed them from animals.

Only thing keeping some semblance of peace was South Korea.

South Korean scientists, after years of painstaking work found a way to strengthen humans using non-human genes and applied this research to increase the strength of their elite units. These people had a strength several times higher than an ordinary augmented soldier.

South Korean soldiers became known as the world’s strongest humans and were in high demand for any task involving The Invaders.

A very small group of barely three spaceships landed in Japan. Taking things into their own hands Japanese government quickly massacred all nine hundred Invaders. Following the example of their neighbors they started researching bodies and technology they obtained. Unfortunately for them, Invaders that they encountered had an abnormally weak body and soon decomposed.

Technology found within the spaceship was far too advanced for governmental scientists so they asked experts from a private company called The YasuNite Organization.

In just three years YasuNite grew in power as they managed to not only recover most of the technology, but also improve it and make it safe for human use. Due to their new growth in power YasuNite got enough resources and confidence to overthrow the government of Japan.

In the year 2104. YasuNite Organization came to an agreement with the Unified Republic of Korea wherein YasuNite would technologically enhance Korean super soldiers. This new group became known as The Union of Mutual Benefit.

Results of this agreement was a beginning of a new era of both warfare and industry.

Just a year later due to the growing tensions between the Vatican and the newly formed Union a new cold war began, and with it a new goal to conquer. Once, during the last cold war, that goal was the moon and now it is a country that planted a flag in it. That irradiated desert became the only place where more advanced weaponry and alien species could be found.
