Prologue

There was a time when there was no time or any concept of space. Space-time is something we view as infinite, but just like everything, it all had to start somewhere, sometime.

But if everything comes from something, where does ‘nothingness’ come from? With our limited brain capacity, we cannot even begin to comprehend what ‘nothing’ or ‘everything’ means.

A million is a big number. So is a trillion. Can you imagine a trillion elephants? All we can understand is that it’s a lot of elephants. But a million and a trillion are both so large that it rarely makes a difference to us. Now what happens if infinite elephants have infinite babies? Is that infinite times infinite? That’s still infinite but it has to be more, right?

How about our notion of nothing? Zero is nothing. But zero can be written as an oval so it is something. We also think of nothing as an infinite black or white space. But black and white are something too.

Ultimately, we’re all just trying to survive in an infinitesimal moment with limited understanding of the universe. Sometimes we find that we can’t keep up. Other times we feel grounded in a single moment. But if the world is so incomprehensible to us, how do we live day-to-day and find meaning in things so small that they are practically Zero?
