Preparation Day

The sun is shining brightly on this pleasant morning, almost too good to be true for a start of the year. Kain, a young, new and very hopeful freshman wakes up. Slightly groggy from getting up from his sleep.

He makes his way towards his bathroom on his right. It’s in a very pristine condition with a nice mirror and sink as soon as he enters the room. The waves his hand, some sparkles appear and a cup comes down from a cupboard that seems to be slightly out of reach.

Kain looks at himself and does his hair. He is quite a good looking boy, with soft and smooth black hair, a pair of diamond blue eyes, and a slim, clear face. Almost every facial feature of his seems to be in the right proportions to look appealing.

After brushing his teeth, he goes back into his room to change his clothes. The room he’s staying at is quite small yet just the right size for a single person. Kain’s room is rather organized, with all his books neatly ordered in his bookshelf, he even ordered it by genre and type. The floor is extremely clean with a nice, soft rug right in the centre of the room. He has a potted plant hanging next to the window. Based on this, one might assume that Kain is a neat and orderly person, until you look at his study desk.

The desk itself is extremely well crafted, with a sturdy looking wood, with a clean, dark finish and an intricate design carved. However, on the desk itself, magic scrolls and books are all laying there with a sling bag on the chair opened. Kain spent the whole day before trying to decide what he should bring, completely forgetting about the timetable he was given before. He, in a panic, just decided to shove as many things into the bag as possible.

Kain isn’t a noble or rich in any way, so magic-infused bags are way out of the question. He changed to the complimentary school-provided uniforms. The academia is quite the exclusive place, only meant for the rich and powerful, most of the other students are either talented and were scouted by the board, or managed to pass the entrance exam.

Out of the estimated four hundred people a year that attempt the exam, only around 60 of those people pass the exam, making some people lose hope in passing exams. Yet, even knowing the low odds some people still do work extremely hard in passing the exam.

The uniform itself is very well made. It is a set which contains a dark blue blazer, a white long-sleeved button-up and grey long pants, all enchanted to prevent any and almost all fatal wounds. The school also provides a package of various basic school necessities to all students who were admitted via examination. It includes a golden brooch with the school’s insignia inscribed onto the pin, a shield with two spears behind it and a crown. The package also includes a silver pocket watch, with the school’s symbol embossed as a motif; a quill and a limited amount of ink, and a pair of brown shoes that uses magic to soften the insole.

Kain takes his time putting on his new uniform, making sure he wears everything as neatly as possible, never more meticulous in his life up until this very moment. Ready to start his academy life.
