BREAKING NEWS: new information presented by NASA seemed to suggest the Mars-orbiter Eros is on its course to collision with Earth. Eros an asteroid 5 times larger than the very meteor that ended the reign of dinosaur. Will this finally be the end of humanity’s suffering? I now turn to Dr. Dolion a planetary scientist who has millions of devout followers all over the world believing in what he preaches.

“Dr. Dolion can you first tell us on what could be reason that this planet killing asteroid went through a sudden change of trajectory and now heading towards us?”

I can only laugh watching how overly calm this news being delivered. The news anchor, San Ha Jeon even seemed grateful of humanity inevitable demised. To be fair I don’t blame her for that since,

“Humanity was a mistake”

“There are thousands of possibility on what could have caused it” Sitting there a smart looking man dressed in a black coat next to the anchor, also very calmly answering the question

“A couple of days ago our rovers on Mars have collecting some data showing Mars experiencing the largest Mars quake ever recorded”

“So big that it was said to be an equivalent of a magnitude 13.5 on the Richter scale on Earth”

“Wow” the news anchor looked a bit impatient to ask her next big question while holding in a smile

“My guess will be that the quake was big enough to disturb the very planet’s magnetic field shifting Eros orbit” Dr. Dolion finishing up his answer.

“Oh wow………. Anyway Dr, the question now is will this finally be the end of human life?” As the camera pans towards the anchor showing her irksome expression.

“There it is the big old question. You brought this upon yourself bitch at least show some regret before getting excited about human extinction. Thank god I’m on the other side of the screen.” Rin finally losses her patience

“Or else what Rin? You gonna killed her?” the bartender while wiping an already cleaned glass asked Rin. Followed by a laughter.

“No Chris that will be to kind of me, I’ll probably shot off all her limbs and let the cripple live her life.”

“You mean with your gun? That’s brilliant actually. Would die to see that with my own eyes.”

The bartender and a woman wearing a black trench coat let out a big laugh, while the man on the news answer the question.

“Yes San Ha, I believe this will finally be it for us. This asteroid can definitely end humanity as we know it. I can assu—“

The anchor interjects” but Dr how is this any different from the nuclear holocaust that happened 128 years ago where at first it seems as if millions have perished but given time they start to heal back to life from the remnants of their dead cells?”.

“San Ha the different between that and what to come is that the nuclear explosion was our own doing and this is the act of God. We were trying to escape our punishment so God brought us back to life, but now after 234 years of punishment He is finally here to enact His Blessing upon us”

“There are still people out there who are being skeptical of what you are preaching Dr. what do you have to say to them?” San Ha trying her best to appear cynical even though being fully on board of what being preached.

“The evidence is clear, from our calculation the asteroid will collide with Earth on the 23rd of April 2311, this year does that ring any bell to you? Yes that’s the day we all choose to become immortal. Is that not enough evidence”

“Tsch, pure coincidence nothing else” Rin annoyed by the fact that the cultist leader is making somewhat of a sound argument.

“My advice to those who are watching is to move as quick as possible to the site of impact to experience the full might of God being channel through Eros”

“And where would that be?”

“Anywhere within South and Central Asia should be fine”

“So there you go folks, you know what to do now pack your shit and head over to Asia. I certainly will be doing the same so before we end our final ever broadcast, Dr any last word you want to slip in.”

“Shit it’s already 11” Rin looking at her bracelet and start to rush out of the bar.”

“Why? you got requested today or something?” Chris still wiping the same glass that he was wiping for some unknown reason.

“Yup, it’s the old lady from the brick cottage”

“Did she missed the fucking News where an entire planet gonna hit us, why would she wanna die now?”

“It’s an asteroid Chris relax. And not everybody believe in that cult like you do. If you didn’t die, I ain’t coming to find you and end your life wherever you might be after the impact”

“Well a view is still a view I’m not passing the chance of seeing that shit”

“Adios, I’ll see you tomorrow then same as usual” Rin feeling a bit regretful for destroying Chris confidence of his belief.

As she was packing her stuff the news still going on behind her.

“We should have never taken the serum knowing full well the consequence of our action. We tempered with natural order and after centuries paying for our sins now we will finally be free.”

“May I also add that the irony of Eros out of any other asteroid being the one to end it all, this yet another evidence that God still loves us, his creation. All of us should atleast now be prostrating asking for our final forgiveness from him and………”

The news fade out as Rin finally leaved the bar and hop on her modified 1200 CX Roadster Harley Davidson bike.

The engine roars as it consumed the same energy that her gun does, flowing out from her energized core where the human heart is usually located at.

She blast off on route to end the wretched soul of the old woman she just mentioned.

Going 60 miles per hour the wind keep blowing Rin’s hair. The only thing that goes through her mind is the unjust reality of her life.

200 years ago, on 23rd of April 2077 humanity finally achieve the secret of live. America’s top geneticist under the company Helix developed a way to counteract aging entirely. Enabling human to experience immortality. They created a serum that when injected into a human would cause the human cells to keep rejuvenating. Those who were fatally wounded healed instantly. The serum worked better than it was expected to. But as expected Helix used it as a way to generate profit.

Some protested against the idea of public access of the serum. It goes against the natural order. But sooner or later they all perished. And the immortals over lived them.

People start to experience the unexpected side effect of the serum which made them impotent. 70 years later society start to face the consequences of having 100% of population being immortal. Living with an unchanging population and no consequences, crimes increases exponentially. Helix desperately trying to find ways to counteract the serum but the efforts were to no avail.

As a last ditch effort Helix finally developed an Enforcer Regiments made up of synthetic human. Armed with weapons powered by a source of energy capable of fatally wounding the immortals even killing them.

Society was revived, and for a time everything came back to normal even though they were ruled with fear and forced to work.

The enforcer soon also fail. Their design was flawed. They start to rebel and no longer stayed loyal to the government. Simply put they gained consciousness. War broke all over the world between the enforcer.

The entirety of Europe and America first to declare total societal collapse the government no longer can contain the order of society. Soon other countries followed.

The enforcer that survived the war blended into society and live among human. Some made their existence known and help the humans by freeing them from their life when people ask them to.

“This must be it then” Rin reaches the rendezvous point.

In the distance she saw the old woman sitting at the porch of her house.

“Hey Sonja, you enjoying your final moments? Or were you having second thought?”

“No no, just do it I’m ready “Sonja look surprisingly calm for someone that is about to face death.

Rin reaches into the holster at her waist and pull out a gun the size of a normal handgun. Before pulling the trigger she said

“I’m sorry”

To which Sonja replied “And I’m thankful”

Energy flow out from the core into her arm through her veins and into the gun. Leaving a trail of intense blue light as she pull the trigger.

In an instance the woman dropped dead with a hole from the front to the back of her head. The energy blast that exits the gun burn all the cells it touches causing it unable to heal again.

Rin have done this thousands of times yet every time it broke her heart to see the human body collapses and become lifeless.
