The Tale of how I Fought an Edgelord Hero (Part 2)

With Miyamoto in front of me and my back to the guild I was in a bad situation. I had to draw his fire away from the guild and then think up a plan to take him out. 

" Who told you the demon lord was here? " I began slowly moving to the side, away from the guild.

" Oh come on you know it's unprofessional to name your source. What matters is that I know he's here, and I'll kill whoever gets between me and slaying him. "

Finally my back was no longer to the guild so I stopped moving and faced Miyamoto.

" Then I guess we have a problem. Cause the demon lord is under my protection. " 

 " Hah, that was never a problem, It was too late for you anyways. " 

Miyamoto cocked the hammer back on his gun but I disappeared before he shot.

 " You obviously used a spell, there's residue of mana where you were. Wait. Did you run? " Miyamoto began laughing.

Unfortunately for him however, I wasn't going anywhere. 

Just as I got close enough to land a strike on his back vanish deactivated taking me off guard.

 " Gotcha! " Miyamoto swiftly turned to me with a evil grin on his face as he pointed his gun at my head. " Fools and anti-magic. Like butter on toast. "

 He had tricked me into thinking he let his guard down which in turn made me let my guard down.

I saw a glimpse of hesitation in Miyamoto which struck me as odd since he held no qualms about killing before " Why haven't you shot me yet? " An involuntary smile grew on my face as I put together his situation, " Ooh, I understand, you don't want to go back, after all here in Rexia your a hero, a being of immense power. Why would you want to go back to being a nobody? Your just like me only your too much of a coward to admit it." I slowly inched out of his anti-magic field.

The look of pure irritation on his face only proved that I was right. " Shut up! I will kill the demon lord! And I will return to my world! "

 I vanished again and continued plotting while Miyamoto looked around anxiously.

 " That's quite a spell you got. Normally with invisibility spells I can sense the mana they produce and find the person casting it. But your spell seems to be an exception. Even so my heroic reflexes will counter any projectiles, and my anti-magic field won't allow you to get close without revealing yourself. "

He was right of course but I had a few theories to test.

I made an illusion of a dagger being thrown at him.

He attempted to deflect it before realizing it was a illusion. " What's your game! That was obviously a fake! "

Upon seeing my theory correct I reappeared leaning on a nearby lamppost with my arms crossed arrogantly hoping to throw him off his game " Then why did you deflect it? Unless it was instinct, but then that would mean your body reacts to threats before your mind can even process whether it's a real threat or not. In other words, it doesn't matter if you can sense magic, your reflexes are too quick for your own good. " 

 " How does that help you? "

I vanished again and summoned countless decoys all throwing a barrage of knives which Miyamoto's instincts forced him to try and deflect. " Really? This is your plan? It's easy enough to tell which daggers are fake, as soon as they get in range of my anti-magic they disappear. " 

 " And yet you still can't help but attempt to deflect them, even if they aren't a threat. It's similar to dropping a red hot pan, by instinct you'll move to catch it even if you haven't had time to think about the fact that you'll get burned. "

 " How clever. Are you proud? " Miyamoto stopped moving as the decoys daggers continued to dispel on his field.

 I threw a real dagger at him but he swiftly turned to me and caught it.

 Miyamoto clenched his hand around the throwing knife and when he opened it a blob of bright molten took it's place. " You should be honored, not many survive long enough to see this form. "

Flames began pouring from him like dry ice as he raised his gun to me again.

An adventurer bursted from the guild in a battle ready stance even though he didn't have a weapon. He didn't even know that he probably saved my life. " Hey dirtbag! You almost killed my pal back there! Watch where you point that thing! " 

 " Huh? You wanna die? " Miyamoto said as he changed his target to the adventurer.

Usagi ran out to bring the guy back but he was putting up a fight. 

 " He sure is fighting, here I'll help. " Without a moment of hesitation Miyamoto pulled the trigger which was soon followed by a deafening explosion.

The adventurers body went limp in Usagi's arms as he was nigh decapitated by a single round.

Usagi's blood soaked face morphed into one of horror as her knees gave out and she collapsed in shock.

" Maybe now you'll be more inclined to show me where the demon lord is. "

" I already told you, the demon lord is under my protection. " I gritted my teeth together so hard I thought they were gonna crack. I could feel the aura of malice whispering into my head it was almost impossible to resist.

Miyamoto sniffed the air like a bloodhound " Oh, he's so close I can feel his aura. Luckily Lothrin gave us those crystals. I'd be going bat guano if not. Now then, the bunny girl is next. Where is the demon lord? " He raised his gun to the traumatized Usagi.

Immediately I made the portals to redirect the shot but he caught on.

" Using a spell on a spell. Probably works on people who can't sense magic, but in my case I'll just shoot around the portal. I'm not gonna ask again..." I stalled for a clever answer but nothing came to mind. " Too late. " Another resounding gunshot echoed through the air as another bullet left the barrel of Miyamoto's gun spiraling due to the rifling.

I couldn't move as the bullet slowly traveled through the air.

" Didn't I warn you? Makono as you call her is nothing but trouble. " Thanatos appeared in front of the bullet as he taunted me. " That adventurer will be the first of countless lifes who will die for her, even without knowing. "

Once again I couldn't talk. Which sucked because I was really starting to hate this guy.

 He put his pointer on the tip of the bullet while it burrowed into him, it looked agonizing but his face was one of curiosity not pain. " I'll give you a brief word of advice for this battle. This gun of his, it isn't his hero's blade, a bullet wound will heal just fine. However if he pulls out a cane you should be careful. "

Thanatos snapped and time resumed but the bullet had lost of momentum because of him pushing against it.

Still I couldn't dream of moving quick enough to intercept it.

A bolt of lightning flashed as Lux appeared in front of Usagi and shielded her from the bullet.

" Lux? Wow your father's looking for you. " Miyamoto said with a shocked expression on his face.

Lux didn't speak a word but I felt my hairs stand on end like static electricity.

Miyamoto started cowering back as Lux slowly approached him. " Listen Lux, Lothrin will be mad if I kill you. "

" That's not gonna be a problem. " Lux now had visible bolts of electricity crackling through him much like cracks on glass. " You killed my friend! You tried to kill Usagi! "

Lux didn't pick up pace, he seemed to enjoy watching Miyamoto cower back.

" Lothrin will understand. You have to die! "

Miyamoto unloaded his gun on Lux but it had no effect.

" Fine! " in a act of desperation Miyamoto pulled a sixteenth century cane sword from his side it was a beautiful blade with a seamless edge, and while it was sheathed it was indistinguishable from a gentleman's cane. I knew it was his heroes blade but the look on Lux's face said he did too.

" If I cut you with this you'll die. Besides you still can't get close enough to land a strike without entering my anti-magic field. Your still gonna lose! " Miyamoto was definitely not a swordsman but with his gun in his off hand, and his anti-magic field he was holding Lux back.

Lux created some distance then opened his hand and a javelin caked lightning appeared in it which he propelled towards Miyamoto at speeds I couldn't even perceive, the lightning crackling through his spear dispelled, but the momentum behind the it took off Miyamoto's arm before the spear vanished like the grosse messer he pointed at my throat.

Miyamoto screamed in agony before engulfing his body in flames again. " Fine! I'll show you real power! "

A vortex of flame spiraled up higher then I could see before blooming across the sky.

Lux snatched the gun from Miyamoto's limp arm where it disappeared like his other weapons.

The sky enveloping flame slowly started deciding to the ground. " The demon lord is somewhere in this kingdom, if you won't tell me where I'll burn the whole place to ash! " it'd became obvious that Miyamoto's cheese had done slid right off his cracker. But knowing that he was insane didn't change the fact that he was.

Miyamoto's revolver reappeared in Lux's hand like his other weapons " Miyamoto. Stop this. " Lux cocked his new gun as he pointed it to Miyamoto's head. 

Miyamoto turned to him in response with a grin on his face. " Why would I.. "

Miyamoto's sentence was interrupted by the same echoing gunshot he had used before. Only it was he who was now beheaded by the gun.

The flames in the sky dispersed revealing the midday blue it was suppose to be.

" Good riddance. " Lux collapsed to the ground unconscious. I however barely did anything and was just fine.

We buried the adventurer and got Lux to the guild's infirmary, then Usagi got cleaned up and rushed to his side.

" You know this isn't gonna be cheep right? I hope you have the guld to pay for this. " Usagi said as she hovered over Lux who was looking normal again due to the amount of weirdly modern drugs being pumped into him. 

" Graxia basically robbed Makono's treasury so I'm sure we have enough. " I replied in confidence.

Makono nodded in agreement.

" Besides he's the leader isn't there a discount? " After I said that I was reminded of Volx and Graxia. " Nevermind. "

Graxia walked in making the room borderline crowded " What'd I miss? I just came back from Lurak's burial. Is that Lux? How are we supposed to afford that much drugs? "

Somehow I could understand her at thirty words a second " With the guld you stole from Makono. " I answered.

Graxia began fiddling with her fingers nervously. " Yeah about that. I may have donated it all to charity. "

" What! How in the hell are we supposed to afford this then! Wait we can just go back to the castle. "

Makono shook her head dismissively. " It's gone. When I left, it disappeared. "

I was left speechless and with a twitchy eye.

" I had to prove I'm not greedy! Besides they needed it more! " Graxia retaliated defensively.

Lux woke up hastily, interrupting our situation. " We can't stay! " He exclaimed immediately. " Usagi your the new leader, if anyone from that organization comes tell them I'm coming back. "

" I'm not letting you go without me. " Usagi replied in a stern voice.

" It's too... "

Usagi interrupted his warning before he even really started " I wasn't asking! " she commanded.

Lux buckled under the pressure as visible trails of sweat ran down his brow. " Yes ma'am! "

" So um when do we leave? " I asked eagerly. " Not that I'm anxious or anything. "

" We'll go tomorrow. We should rest today. "

" I know just the place, as long as we have fifteen guld. " Graxia offered.

" Fifteen guld for five people? Sign me up. " Lux cheered.

I had a few questions for Lux most of which I'd probably forget the next day, but I figured I'd get my answers eventually.
