Savagery

Liam-31 could see the drool dripping from the savage's mouth, it's breath heavy as its eyes were locked onto his. Its massive, hulking frame was covered in dark grey hair, with teeth jagged and sharp it could cut your body in half. It had the body of a gorilla, the savage's huge arms looked as though they could rip a tree from its trunk, all the while moving as stealthily as a snake in the night.

Cocking his shotgun, Liam-31 continued to stand his ground as the savage inched its way towards him, before wildly letting out a high pitched screech, pushing its body towards Liam-31, leaving two craters of dirt where its hind legs had been.

Attempting to grab Liam-31, he rolled away from the savage, unloading a round into its side. Regaining his posture, Liam-31 noticed that the bullets he shot into the savage had disappeared, only leaving small holes that hadn't penetrated through its skin. The savage, snarling at Liam-31, retreated into the dark forest, leaving Liam-31 alone in the night sky.

"ANTI, turn on night vision and highlighting. Raise audio output slightly." Liam-31 instructed his A.I, reloading his shotgun and observing his surroundings.

"Suggestion: A detailed analysis of the creature known as a savage is available. Would you like to listen?" ANTI spoke.

"Tell me." Liam-31 responded, keeping his trigger finger ready.

"Processing: The savage is a large, biped organism that has characteristics most similar to a gorilla. While it has been observed running on two feet, it is mainly seen in a quadroped position. It has been noted that these creatures are unique for their stalking traits, being able to silently creep up on bastion units without notice. Bullets have been found to be ineffective against said organism, observations have shown that directly cutting the organism's skin or inflicting explosive damage is the only way to harm it. Few creatures of this species have been directly seen in combat, but all footage containing this creature has resulted in complete annihilation of bastion squads."

Being informed of its weakness, Liam-31 prepped his blade, alongside several grenades that he could throw at the creature. Stowing away his shotgun, he heard the faint sound of something being snapped.

Barely reacting, he could hear the savage's loud roar, as he saw what looked like a small tree being hurdled toward him. Falling to the ground, Liam-31 threw a grenade at the savage, exploding as the savage grabbed its face, looking at the blood that began to drip. It led out a large roar, bumping its chest with its massive fists as it dug into the ground, grabbing chunks of dirt and tossing it towards Liam-31. Unable to react, the dirt blinded Liam-31, as he readied his blade to cut the savage's body when it came near. 

Wiping the dirt from his face, Liam-31 noticed the savage running towards him. Knowing he couldn't dodge the savage's next attack, he attempted to slide underneath the creature, cutting open its stomach.

As the savage lunged at Liam-31, he slid underneath the creature's body, gripping his blade tightly as he plunged it into the savage's skin, blood spurting out as the savage rolled into a tree. Throwing another grenade at the savage, Liam-31 could tell that the creature was beginning to weaken.

Lifting itself up, the savage stood on its two legs, its stomach cut open as blood poured out, its flesh revealed. Liam-31 saw the savage disregard its wounds, as its mouth began to foam uncontrollably, its eyes completely blood shot as the savage let out a long, slow growl. 

In an instant, the savage began to beat its chest rapidly, roaring towards the sky as it looked back towards Liam-31, its mouth uncannily forming a wide, hideous grin. 

Liam-31 took a low stance, his stamina was beginning to slow from the constant dodging and endurance from the savage's attacks, he took deep breaths as he held a grenade and his knife in his hands.

The savage maintained eye contact without moving from its position for what seemed like forever, the urge to attack crept into Liam-31's mind, gripping his grenade tightly, readying to throw it at the creature and kill it.

Before he had the chance to, he could hear the faint sounds of footsteps in the distance, unsure if it was Judas-12 who had come back to assist him, Liam-31 kept his vision on the savage, which began to take slow steps towards him.

Suddenly, a man's voice echoed through the forest, as Liam-31 looked towards the source of the sound, and he saw a group of men with rifles in hand, aiming directly at the savage.

"FIRE!" One of the men in the group yelled, as almost instantly bullets began to hit the savage, causing it to stagger slightly. 

Knowing that the savage was distracted from the constant fire of bullets against its skin, Liam-31 took the opportunity to attack, readying his blade, he ran towards the savage to end the brutal fight quickly.
