Chapter 17:

Bullet

Bastion

Liam-31 sprinted towards the savage whilst it had been distracted by the bullets, building momentum to leap onto its back. He knew a mere stab wouldn't finish the savage, so he aimed to slice its throat open, hoping to finish it off quickly.

Gaining enough momentum, Liam-31 burst off the ground, latching onto the savage's hairy back. Realizing what was happening as it was staring at the people, the savage began to scream, aiming to rip Liam-31 off its back.

Dodging the savage's attempts to grab him, Liam-31 climbed towards its neck, using his knife to support his way to the savage's throat.

The savage began to twist and turn rapidly, the fierce heat from the stab wounds on its back caused it to roar uncontrollably. Unable to get hold of Liam-31, he had made his way towards the savage's neck, releasing his blade from its skin and stabbing it directly into its throat.

The savage's eyes widened, letting out a screech so loud it caused the people to stop firing and cover their ears. The savage began running into the woods, with Liam-31 still on top its back.

Struggling to slice the blade through the savage's thick skin, Liam-31 began losing his grip on his blade as the savage ran into the woods, causing Liam-31 to be hit by the tree branches.

Still not letting go of the blade, Liam-31 let out a grunt, before pushing his hands left, slicing the savage's throat completely, causing a massive burst of blood to pour out. The savage stopped running, falling to the ground as blood poured around its body.

Unable to release the blade from the savage's throat, Liam-31 had no choice but to leave the blade in the savage's skin, jumping off its massive back.

Seeing as the savage had not moved and a puddle of blood began to develop around its body, Liam-31 believed the savage to be dead. Taking deep breaths as he looked at the savage's dead body, he turned around to meet up with Judas-12 and the people.

After walking a short distance, Liam-31 still couldn't find any signs of Judas-12 or the people, stopping to rest his body as he planned where to look next.

Standing still, Liam-31 felt the slight drop of what felt like water on his head. Reaching towards his helmet, he wiped the drop off onto his hand. Looking at his hand, he realized that it hadn't began to rain.

It was a drop of saliva.

Turning around instantly, Liam-31 saw the giant, hulking savage stand in front of him, blood still pouring from the wound on its neck with his blade still latched on. Its drool and blood mixed onto the ground, creating a grotesque pool of liquid.

Reaching towards his body, Liam-31 attempted to grab a grenade and quickly throw it between the savage and him, only for the savage to swipe Liam-31 as if he were a fly, knocking him onto a large tree, causing his armor to break, and his spine to be broken.

With his visor cracked, Liam-31 couldn't see his surroundings, as his labored breathing was the only thing he could hear. Unable to move from the ground, Liam-31 could only wait for the inevitable, as the loud thumping from the savage filled his head. Turning his eyes forward, he saw the giant savage running towards him.

Knowing what was to come, he closed his eyes, hoping for a quick death, knowing he did what he could to stop the savage.

The savage jumped up from the ground, forming its fist into a ball, before falling to the ground.

Just then, a massive snap filled the air, almost as if a jet had flown across the woods.

What appeared was a bullet, large enough to pierce through the savage's skin and fly right out. Hitting its head, the savage fell to the ground instantly, moving erratically before stopping, another pool of blood forming around its body, this time dead for good.

Unsure of what had happened, Liam-31 continued to gasp for air, as he watched the savage's body lay on the ground.

"Liam!" The sound of a man's voice could be heard, but Liam-31 only heard it as a slur of garble, unable to distinguish what had been said.

"Liam!" The sound grew louder, footsteps heard as Liam-31 struggled to figure out what was being said.

"Liam!" Somebody grabbed Liam-31's body, pulling him up against the tree to support his body.

It was Judas-12, who began to lift Liam-31 up from the ground, supporting his body with his own.

"Hold on, we'll get you to the camp in a minute," Judas-12 said, struggling to move with Liam-31's weight. "Don't go dying on me right now."

"We need you."

Liam-31 still couldn't understand what he was saying, his whole body was heavy, and his mind began to drift off, before finally he could no longer maintain himself, falling unconscious as Judas-12 limped towards the group of people who rushed towards them.
