Chapter 3:

Julia, the Latina

Soulmate Hunting

After the date with Sarah, Jack took some time to comprehend what happened. In a week he went on a date again. This time with someone definitely not a criminal. Her name was Julia. Jack ran into Julia in a supermarket buying groceries. He was in a hurry to get home and cook for himself after all he lived alone and couldn't afford a cook. He was running to the counter when he bumped into Julia who was also running to the same counter. Julia was mad and screamed, "Are you bli-" She stopped midway sentence because she laid her eyes on Jack who stared at her with love and she couldn't possibly be mad at that man. Both of them apologized, picked their fallen items and left the supermarket. Julia hoped Jack would ask for her number or something because he clearly liked her but Jack was too nervous to say something. Once they left the store, both of them turned around and looked at each other at the same time. Julia put her cart to the side and went and gave Jack her number. You'd think she'd not lile the fact that Jack was not brave enough to approach her but she actually kind of liked it. She was shy herself too. They were made for each other.

She was Mexican and had a strong accent. She had brown hair and hazelnut coloured eyes. Above the eyes were long and luscious eyelashes which added to her charm. Julia was a gym instructor and was crazy about fitness.

Their first date was nothing extraordinary. Just a picnic date at the park. Jack set it all up. He brought sandwiches, snacks and drinks for them to enjoy while they talked and looked at the breathtaking view of scenery around them. This was all placed on a soft, furry mat they could sit on without the grass poking and tickling their legs. Jack worked really hard for this date to go well. He then waited for Julia who arrived a little later than expected. Jack saw Julia from afar and he noticed a bag with a bottle cap protruding out of the top in Julia's hand. He thought she also brought some food for the both of them to eat as a nice gesture but that wasn't exactly the case. She had a salad and some sort of green smoothie in that bag for her own meal. As mentioned she was crazy about fitness hence ate minimal calories and only healthy, vegetable or fruit related food without any additional condiments. Jack had a mixed feeling about this. He liked that Julia cared for herself but he felt bad that some of his efforts went to waste. Jack also thought that it meant he had to be careful around Julia about food. He didn't want eating habits to be what broke them apart. He ate less than he normally would. Both of them conversated about nature because due to their surroundings it was the first topic that came to mind. They also shared some childhood experiences and rather personal information.

A person's childhood really plays a part in their personality and the stories Julia told impressed Jack. She told him about how she was part of her college football team, wanted to play it as a professional. Her father was in a mariachi band so she picked up some music skills too. Not only was she sporty but could play a guitar magestically. Jack never thought he'd be dating someone exceptionally talented. Although he also played some football in college and has surely watched a lot of it so he knows a thing or two. He thought he'd challenge Julia to a 1v1. It'd be a good way to bond. Julia initially disagreed with the idea because she thought her competitive side was unattractive and not pleasant to see. She made excuses to cover it up like "I'm not in the right clothes. " And "My shoes are new, i don't want them to get dirty already." And "I'm a little rusty so we'll do this later." But just because Jack insisted to play and she couldn't act like she feared losing to him, she stood up and got ready. Jack asked a little child playing with his football if he could borrow it. The child was okay with him borrowing his football and so the match began. Jack gave Julia the start and within a few seconds Julia had scored a goal and was in the lead. The next time Jack tackled and stole the ball, he figured out Julia's weakness. Julia couldn't dribble with her left foot as it was her weak foot and all Jack had to do was pressure her to dribble with the left. But did he do it? No. Jack let Julia win and just on their first date they'd made so many memories and gotten pretty close.

Two months passed and things were going well. Christmas was close and the pressure to get a good gift for Julia was on. Jack went to a jewelry shop. You know what they say "Go big or go home. " It took him some time to figure out what to get but luckily the shopkeeper was really helpful. She was a lady herself and his best option was to trust her choice. Jack bought the expensive gift with a loan he took from the bank and went back home. While entering he saw a water leakage through the window. He ran and covered the leak while he called for help. In this rush he dropped the gold bracelet. The bracelet along with the flow of the leaked water went and fell in the drain. Jack was in trouble!
