Chapter 5:

The seperation of the two lovers

Soulmate Hunting

It had been about two weeks since Jack and Julia last met in person. Both of them couldn't cope to this weird new partition between them because of their work lives. This made their relationship a strange one. Whenever they met things would be slightly awkward. They wouldn't know what to talk about and sometimes they wouldn't take their hands off each other. One time they were pretty drunk and made out in an alley in public where an old couple saw them and their jaws dropped. It was like they were traumatized.

Julia was putting up greater numbers every month for her team. All scouts had their eyes on her. Jack didn't know this. Julia wasn't completely aware of how serious the situation was because only one actually reached out to her and she denied their offer. They offered less money than Julia wanted playing at a higher level than she did right now. The other offers were to be managed by her new agent, her cousin who did a degree in finance. The last game of the season was closer than ever. After this game Julia would be free to enjoy her time with Jack for the summer. So she gave it her all and scored a hattrick to seal the win for her team. She might have tried to hard.

While she was out partying with Jack in the summer, someone made an offer of a lifetime for her. That someone was no ordinary team. It was Liverpool fc. They're one of the biggest teams if not the biggest team in English football. The money, the luxury, the fans, the quality football it was all there. This was Julia's dream. Her cousin told her about the offer but she couldn't act too excited or leave the room, she was with Jack. Jack would ask what got her acting that way and if this was the way they seperate she definitely didn't want to tell him. She just said the words "Ok" and "Hmm right". Liverpool was really far away and with Jack's job and duty of taking care of his grandfather he couldn't move with her. They couldn't continue the long distance relationship either because the travel charges on top of the lengthy breaks in between seeing each other made it far worse than before. They'd just gotten back to the point they were before her professional career started. Losing that progress all over again would be terrible. When one half of a couple is that far away from another there's always the fear interference of a third party that might ruin this relationship. At the same time she couldn't let go of this opportunity.

She slept over it and turns out she valued her career more than Jack. She'd already packed her stuff before Jack woke up so she could leave as soon as she's done with the break up talk. Staying with Jack for longer would only change her mind. Finally when Jack woke up, she sat him down and talked to him. As soon as Jack heard the words "You deserve better than me. It's not you it's me." he knew this was her breaking up with him. He just asked what led her to this decision. She explained how she received the offer from Liverpool and all the reasons that made her think this was the right decision. Jack was deeply depressed but he agreed. There wasn't much more he could do other than agreeing. This was the end of Jack and Julia's relationship. That break up talk was their last interaction, their last goodbye.
