9 - Scabiosa School Part 5

"It's not in the school... You can rest assured," I said to Mayumi. 

"It's a malus..." Mayumi says.

"Oh..."

She can sense malus from far away using vistal. The power source in the chevalier's body. All chevaliers in their twenties can do it when their power is unlocked.

"Do you want to take a look?" Mayumi asked. Her eyes stare directly toward the smoke from the explosion.

"No... Just let the chevaliers who are on duty in this area face it-"

"Good, I'll go first and wait for you there," Mayumi says, cutting my word.

"Huh? What the-"

 Mayumi jumps from the rooftop.

"Glacies step," she says an incantation that makes a platform of ice from her leg. Creating an ice stair downfall to get into the location faster. The ice vanishes once she passes it.

"Ahh... Why did she do that? She knows well she can't leave the school..."

At the location,

The two-storey house across the school is burning with fire with a few people swarming the place to help people inside the house.

"Call the firefighters!" 

"Are there people inside?"

"Should we help them?"

"Don't! Leave it to the firefighter!"

People are in dilemma in their decision. 

Meanwhile, Mayumi observed the situation for quite a time from inside the school. She tried to leave the school area. The gate is already opened wide. 

"Srisss!"

She tried to pass the school zone, but an electrical force prevent her from doing so. 

"You can't pass..." Yama's voice comes from behind.

Mayumi looks dejected. A sense of distress can be seen in her eyes. Her face turns pale.

"I can save someone in that house now if I can pass this!" she says while shaking.

"Stop worrying about something that's not your problem..." Yama tries to convince her.

"Someone's life in danger! How can that not be my problem?" a feeling of responsibility fill her mind.

"The chevaliers must be on their way. Whoever is in charge of this area. Relax," Yama says to calm her down.

"H-how can you say that?"

"Worrying will not do any good for you. What if the enemy attacks the school right now? You should focus on your job."

"That just... That's just selfish! You said that because that's not your fam-"

Mayumi cut her word before completing it after she saw Yama's face turn irritated. They both fell into silence. Yama has an uneasy grin on his face. He grips his fist tightly.

"Y-Yama... I-I d-doesn't mean like that..." Mayumi wraps her hand around her waist while looking at the ground. She tries to talk but her mouth won't let her.

The silence between them continues for a second before Yama decides to leave the place without saying anything. Mayumi still standing beside the opened gate.
