Chapter 9:

The mess of a Living room

Returned by a Thousand Times

“What the hell? Miss Ito, are you okay!?” Koi shouted as he looked around the hall and living room there were things thrown here and there a ladle was on top of the TV, and the clothes were all over the floor with magazines here and there too,

Only one thought appeared in Koi’s head, seeing this chaos,

‘A robbery!!’ he shouted again,

“Miss Ito are you okay!?” he went towards her room panicking although he knew it was not okay to brag into a girl’s room this early in the morning, he had no choice as his mind was occupied with the possibility that something could’ve happened to her, he knocked the door harder.

*

Ito, who was calmly sleeping in her room at 4 am, suddenly heard the loud knocking,

‘Ehh, what is up this early in the morning…. Is it the cat?' she thought and clumsily stepped out of bed. She was still very sleepy due to that last night things were completely out of her mind?

“Yawnnn” she yawned and went towards the door and the knocking stopped for a second.

‘Did the kitty leave’ she felt sad a bit but still moved to open the gate and as soon as she opened the gate, she saw Koi running full speed towards her room with his shoulder in front,

“What!!?” Ito was shouting as she show the incoming Koi,

“Ito!!!” he was shouting when he suddenly noticed Airi, but it was too late to stop and he collided with her,

Now he was on top of Ito in her room near her bed. He looked at her and she looked fine. Koi sighed in relief but Airi asked, irritated,

“What were you trying to do!? Didn’t I warn you last night?” she was looking menacing, when Koi answered,

“I saw the hall and thought a robbery happened. I wanted to see if you were okay,” Koi’s eyes seemed genuinely concerned.

“Uhh whatever, get off from top of me!!” Airi said, and Koi hurriedly moved aside and when he did, he was faced with a sight he couldn’t comprehend instantly and it took a minute for him to exclaim,

“Miss Ito…. Your top!! Buttons are ope… open!!” he stuttered near the end and Airi realized her top buttons were open and she hurriedly turned the other way,

“Forget what you just saw!!” she said and Koi nodded fast even though she couldn’t see him.

“Answered already!!” she said and Koi said in a low voice,

“Okay,” Airi thought for a bit and spoke

“I need to change face towards the door and know that if you tried peeking, I’ll poke your eyes out!!”

‘Why does she always need to be so violent!?”

He turned facing toward the wall, but he could still hear the voice of her changing.

‘I could’ve just gotten out of the door!!’ Koi thought as he felt an incomprehensible feeling within him, it was as If he awakened something new,

“Hey you can turn around now,” Airi said sounding more awake than before and as Koi turned around, he saw Airi was looking perfect in her college uniform although he tilted his head confused as to why she would wear it on a holiday before he could bring himself to ask anything Airi asked,

“So, what were you trying to do?”

“I saw the hall in rumbles and thought a robber robbed the house. I was checking on you to make sure Miss Ito was okay”

‘Uhh now I can’t scold him if he was only concerned for me…... no wait a second’ her eyes twitched as she pointed towards Koi,

“You….you saw the hall!?”

“Umm yes” Koi nodded, and Airi got shouted,

“Why would you!? Even though I planned to clean everything before you woke up!? The watch… watch” Airi looked towards the watch and her eyes twitched more.

She pointed again towards Koi, her finger shaking and face red.

‘It isn’t a good habit to point at people,’ Koi thought, but before he could’ve said anything Airi shouted,

“Why would you wake up at 4 am!?”

“Ahh, it is normal time back at the village” Koi rubbed the back of his head, Airi fell in thought and then said in a low cold voice,

“Oii, if you mentioned this to anyone at NGO…. You know what would happen right” Koi gulped as he remembered the conversation last night and nodded,

“So it was not a robbery?” Koi asked and Airi looked embarrassed as she explained it was just accumulated trash and her forgetting to clean the hall, they made way to the hall and Koi looked around feeling a strange sense of familiarity with the trash-filled living room.

‘Ahh these remind me of those two…’ he thought as he asked Airi,

“Miss Ito when was this room last cleaned… although it might be out of line for me one should clean regularly when living alone” he tried sounding as humble as possible but Airi thought,

‘Who is he to give me a sermon about cleaning!?’ she pouted as she answered,

“I did it recently also I do it regularly. You can check in the calendar all the cleaning days are marked!!” Koi tried to shrug it off but Airi insisted to save her respect,

“Go go check it I am regular enough!!” she said with pride, and Koi went towards the calendar,

‘Umm January, Feb…. April, is she joking? There are no marks’ Koi meekly turned towards Airi too meek to question but she proudly snorted,

“Are you shocked seeing my regularity? Now you’ll know better than to give a ser….” Airi said but before she could complete Koi said in a low voice,

“That’s not it,”

“Then what happened?” Airi asked confused, and Koi said trying to sound as firm as possible for him.

“I saw no cleaning marks?”

“Ahh they are the same with red marks, Mr. Yamamoto if there are no other marks isn’t it common sense” Airi reached near the calendar and Koi finally looked again at it finding multiple red marks with a gap of 2 months in between,

‘This is marked father’s visit too….’ He looked once again towards the Airi with a feeling of something snapping in him,

‘Don’t tell me…. she only cleans when her father visits!?’ his image of perfect Airi shattered for once when Airi proudly proclaimed thinking he was shocked,

“See, even though people only clean on festivals, I clean once every 2 months!!”

“Miss Ito…” Koi spoke, his voice low,

“What happened?” asked Airi as she felt a different vibe from Koi and Koi suddenly shouted,

“Help me clean already!! Homes are not trash cans!? Or no food tonight”
