Chapter 7:

Confession

The Botanical Research Club

"Hey Hinata, do you want anything to eat?"
Fulvius asks as he gets to his feet and heads into the kitchen.
"Yes, may I have something sweet?"
I ponder this while I put my palms over my knees and spread my legs on the carpet.
"Some of the chocolate cake is still around. Join me and we'll take one slice each."

We go down the stairs and into the kitchen. Fulvius cuts the slices of cake and brings them to the balcony. We gaze at one another as we sit down. It's already dark outside. Given that his street has no active lamps, it's possible to see a few stars. The balcony is immediately connected to the garden, which features yellow roses framed by stones.

I take a bite and remark: "It is indeed nice here, isn't it? Also, the cake is quite good."
"Yes, but what's even nicer is finally getting to spend time with you outside of school." Fulvius responds while blushing. Though his answer is surprising, I feel a pleasant sensation spread throughout my body.

"I agree. We ought to do this more frequently." Without giving it any thought, I say.
"How about taking a walk? Once we've finished the dessert, we can head to the city." Fulvius asks and then glances swiftly at the plate.

"We can visit the city. It will be a pleasant change of pace as I don't get out too often. Would you mind if we walked to my house so I could quickly shower and change into something more appropriate?" I inquire excitedly.

"Yes, absolutely. I will also change. It will take a little while."

We eat our cakes while smiling and glancing at each other, and after that, I wait for Fulvius to get dressed. His unique style intrigues me. I'm picturing him in every imaginable way. He appears before I could make up my mind and choose one of the versions. A basic grey tee, a black jean jacket, and black pants with a studded belt. Additionally, he wears a pendant in the form of an axe.

I comment, "You look great, I like it," as I make my way to the hallway to put my shoes on.
"Thanks a lot. Should I carry an umbrella? I doubt it will rain again." Fulvius asks.
"Don't bring it. It has completely cleared." I say.

We leave through the front door and head in the direction of my street. We talk about the club and the experiment we have conducted a short while ago. We have already arrived close to my home because I don't live too far away. I hastily make my way upstairs to dress. After I wash myself, I decide on a small black dress with an intriguing pattern on the back. My only accessories are a small bag and a black collar necklace with a tiny silver heart on it. On my feet I put on sandals with a higher heel. I finish by adding some perfume. I confidently exit my house and meet his eyes. He appears to be pleased with what he sees.

"You look lovely, Hinata. Come, let's go." He says expressively.

We get to the town. It's already pitch black outside, and all the lights are switched on. The buildings are all glimmering. Without talking too much, we stick together as we move toward the location Fulvius has chosen. We walk into the well designed coffee shop. We go to the second floor. Just before the waiter arrives, we take a seat on the balcony.

He asks, "What would you like to order?"
"I would like a mint tea with a lemon." I place my order. Fulvius orders some coffee.
"Coffee at this hour?" I enquire with curiosity.
"Yes. It doesn't interfere with my sleep cycle, and I feel a little sleepy, so why not?" He talks to me in detail while advancing his hand toward mine.

"Alright. After this year is complete, what do you want to study?" Asking out of mild curiosity.
"Chemistry, unquestionably. I have always been amazed by how a chemical structure affects a certain object. As for magic, it can be beneficial "He replies, gently touching the tips of my fingers.

He continues, "What about you, Hinata?"

"I suppose I should study biology if I want to become a botanist, despite the fact that it is a broad subject that also focuses on other species. Then I can choose botany afterwards." I reply cheerfully while pulling my fingers back to see if he will touch them once more.

"Clever decision. If I were in your situation, I would choose the same. There will always be things you find boring, but in my opinion, if there are certain aspects that you intriguing, it is worth it. Especially if you are enthusiastic about it." He says while seizing my hand. He takes notice of the ring I'm wearing on my pinky finger. It is a triangle-shaped amethyst ring.

"Nice ring you have. Wow, it seems pricey," he remarks.
"It wasn't really that pricey. I purchased it because I liked it." I lift my head to look at him and smile. The coffee and tea are served. I insert the bag into the teapot and close the lid. Fulvius takes a sip of coffee.

"Was that really true? That secret of yours?" He can't help but show a slight tremble as he asks. It appears to be important to him.

"Yes. Fulvius, I genuinely like you. Although sometimes you can be chilly and unpredictable, I have fallen for you." I sincerely tell him that. I figure he likes me, so I have no need to be concerned about what he might say now. Plus, it's evident that he asked me out.
"Same Hinata, I have liked you since I met you," he says.
