End//Game (Part_1)

"Lucy!" Kaden shouted as he saw his friend running down to sidewalk towards him. 

"Kaden!" Lucy cried back. "I'm so glad you're okay! What happened?!" She ran to about 5 feet away from Kaden before stopping to catch her breath.

"I just got news back that they found my dad" Kaden replied, "he's dead."

"What the hell?!" Lucy replied. "That's something you should be a lot more worried about! What are you going to do about-"

"There's no time for that." Kaden said. "There's going to be another one, a 204th kaiju."

"When?! Where?!"

"We don't know, but it'll be soon." Kaden replied. "Did Hannah tell you about how the kaiju work? How they're evolving?"

"No, what do you mean?"

"Apparently" Kaden explained, "during the time all of us were in stasis, the kaiju were learning from every battle. Each one is better equipped to destroy us than the last. The data energy beam that was developed by the 201st kaiju made a later appearance on the 202nd and 203rd. On top of that, the humanoid form and gigantic size of the 202nd kaiju were both influenced by those before it. In effect, they're learning. Eventually, we won't be able to stop them."

"The last one was stopped though." Lucy said. "DEED deployed another kaiju to destroy it before turning on me."

"The mk1 is too badly damaged to take down the 204th kaiju on its own" Kaden added, "you'll need to do it yourself if we want yo survive."

"How do you know so much about this? Weren't you caught in the lockdown function earlier?"

"This isn't the time for that discussion!" Kaden said. "You need to recreate the 2nd kaiju and use it to combat the 204th!"

"You're working with them, aren't you?" Lucy asked. "That's the only logical answer. Gabriel is using you to get what he wants. Why are you helping him?!"

"Because it's the only way to stop everyone from dying!" Kaden replied. "If the kaiju make contact with the egg, the city is gone and everyone in it dies. I know you don't want that."

"What if Gabriel is just lying to you to keep himself alive?!" Lucy shouted. "Why do you trust him if you know he's not human?!"

"Because there are worse things out there than Gabriel!" Kaden snapped back at Lucy. "You have to choose the lesser of two evils if you want to win in the end!"

A loud rumbling could be heard across the city. Lucy knew what it was without even having to look up towards the newly-arrived kaiju. 

"I have something better to do than sit around arguing." Lucy said to Kaden. "I suggest you stay away if you don't want to die."

The 204th kaiju was a towering monstrosity, a humanoid figure larger than any of the others that came before it. Its head was a larger spherical eyeball, similar to the 203rd. It watched over the city from the skies above, scanning for something.

The 2nd kaiju appeared nearby the school district and squared to face the 204th. The new kaiju reminded Lucy of the 202nd one, she assumed that this one also had a beam attack. 

Turning her arm towards the hulking figure, Lucy fired off the energy beam at the cyclops's torso. The attack punctured straight through the creature's stomach area and out the other side. It didn't faze the kaiju in the slightest. Lucy turned her gaze upward to see a flickering light surround the 204th kaiju's eye and ducked for cover behind a building. If that attack landed, she would be dead.

Previous times, the energy beam had a rhythm. Lucy could roughly predict when the kaiju would make its attack. All she had to do was wait for it to waste it before she could strike. The time ticked down until her moment to strike. 

She waited.

The time passed, yet there had been no destruction. Did the kaiju learn to hold its attack? There was only one way to find out. 

Lucy jumped out from behind the building. The kaiju released its attack just as she emerged. Lucy was able to dodge away from the attack with a well-timed use of the propulsion jets, but it was still close. Lucy was now in the open as the kaiju began charging another attack. She activated her propulsion jets and charged at the towering creature.

"Lucy, get down!" She heard a voice call out to her. It was Kaden?

Lucy ducked just in time as a massive object whizzed past her, slicing the 204th kaiju in twain. A line formed across the slash's contact point as the creature seemed to dissipate and reform in time with the impact. Landing behind Lucy was the artificial kaiju mk1, bearing its massive blade once again.

"Kaden?! What's going on?!"

"I don't care about the regulations anymore, so I can tell you everything. I'm the one who controls the mk1. I've been training for it since the 5th kaiju's attack."

"Why didn't you tell me before?!"

"Because you knew before."
