Chapter 2:

Chapter 2: A Heist To Change The World

Mirage Oasis

Mirage Oasis, A resort for the wealthy elite to go and escape the polluted wastelands they created. They are filled with amenities such as a life-like recreation of a long beach, multiple high-end restaurants, and state-of-the-art medical facilities. All items are hoarded in a massive orbiting space station. For almost everyone, it is impossible to get in unless you own 99.98% of the world's financials. A lot of the details come from videos of these oligarchs flaunting their wealth on the net. It has become a very popular genre that everyone watches. An artificial nirvana, exclusive to only the people who built their wealth and power on the planet's destruction.

"Okay, I'm out" Lieutenant started to turn around and leave. "wait, wait, wait, this isn't a joke I'm serious. I wouldn't force you to travel for hours just to make a stupid Deez nuts joke on you."
"that sounds exactly like something you would do."
"Shut up Clay-Doh"
The lieutenant turns his head to look at me, wanting my input seeing as I was friends with her for a long time. On the surface, this job is most definitely a trap. She has called me to her place just so she can pull a Deez nuts joke on me. Strange as it is, she would only do these kinds of things on me and not risk forcing someone as dangrouruse as Lieutenant to travel hours just to make a joke. She has more common sense than that.

"wouldn't hurt to listen," I say to him, knowing her for a long time I knew she had something important to say. "fine" he leans onto a wall, ready to listen to what Silicon has to say.

"Alright" Silicon takes a puff from her inhaler. "It all started when I was doing my usual close relative scam. I was able to get into this random guy's computer by impersonating his kid. turns out this guy was a logistics manager for some random trucking company. Looking deeper into it and I find out that this company was in charge of sending materials into Mirage Oasis for some sort of new renovations project in the resort."
To anyone else, this would sound too good to be true. Knowing her it's not out of the realm of possibility. She does these kinds of scams all time over a large number of people. it's still a rare chance that she would so happen to hack the planeplanet-sidestics manager for the most luxurious resort in the world, but the chances aren't zero.
"in other words, you found a supply truck that goes to the resort and not actual access to it," I say to her.
"Well yeah, everyone knows that Mirage Oasis uses a local system not connected to any planet-side network." I and Lieutenant get up and begin the motion of leaving.
"Wait hold on, yes the system is local but not invulnerable. look I've been watching a bunch of resort videos, learning as much as I can about its network and I know for certain that if I have just access to it I can hack it and take everything from it."
"I might know where this is going," said the lieutenant "you want us to help you stow away into the logistics transport, get into the resort and sneak into some sort of server room and whatever, then hack into the system taking everything from them, then getting out."
"Exactly," she says excitedly
There it goes, the job sounded way too good to be true. Mirage Oasis has never been robbed, nobody has attempted. Due to its security, and the fact that it's in space. No one has ever gained uninvited access to the resort. Being a mega fort for the oligarchs it would be obvious that the security would culminate in a small army.
"That's, stupid," me and Lieutenant say at the same time
"it's not stupid it's just crazy"
"That's not mutually exclusive," said Lieutenant crossing his arms. "The transport probably has some sort of weight sensor to make sure there are no stowaways. not only that, the resort is in space, and the transport is automated so they wouldn't bother putting any oxygen in it."
"I'm glad you pointed that out," she says smugly. after gaining access to the logistic manager's computer I tampered with the security of the transport so it wouldn't get triggered. Not only that but our transport will be a delivery of the resort's milk, artificial bee hive, and bees. So the transport is specially made to sustain life, even in the vacuum of space."
"well, we can get past logistics security," I say leaning a bit more comfortably in the chair. "we don't know if we can get past the resort's security."
"The resort uses Android security, which is controlled by its system." Says Silicon

"The security androids aren't that bad to deal with" Lieutenant turns to me "With the right gun and ammunition, they shouldn't pose that much of a threat. what I wonder is how are we going to get back."

"I've been studying how the transports operate. It looks like all the items get shipped out all at once and come back all at once. So all we have to go back the way we came. which would give us five hours to hack the system."

"you know, the more I talk about it, the more I think we might do this," I say to them. As insane as it sounds it doesn't sound like it's impossible. This would be the most difficult job anyone has ever pulled off. It will take our all to even have a small chance of success, But seeing our current situation what choice do we have? We can either live scraping off the barrel of die trying to obtain the largest fortune in human history. Not only that even if we fail, even crazier people will also see that there is a possible chance of robbing the place. this job is a win-win in a sense. If we live we get more money than we need, and if we die we get a legacy. Also, i get to have some vengeance against the Oligarchs
"alright I'm in"
"Great, Lieutenant" we all look at him "you all know this is suicidal right" we all nod "alright I'm in, when do the transports leave"

"in 24 hours"

24 hours to prepare for a dangouruse heist that will have us face the most powerful and influential people in the world. My heart is racing in anticipation. All my life I felt the weight of that ivory tower on my back, constantly bringing me down, constantly bringing everyone in the world down. Now it is time for us to shake that tower, and make sure those people that destroyed our planet get what they deserve. Either everything is taken or given led. It's time for the Oligarchs and their ivory tower to get a wake-up call.

"Great let's gear up." we all head out, ready to make history.

A long chasm, its dark center broken up by the light of holograms advertising something in the center of it. Its walls are sectioned off into floors, lining it with corrugated roller doors that line it ever so meticulously. we walk on one of the many floors, looking up at the dark ceiling it was clear this was supposed to be an outdoor storage area but the ceiling has been sealed off to make room for more buildings or roads or whatever. looking down it almost feels bottomless, the feeling is broken by the flashing neon lights of the screens below. finally, we make it to our destination, a roller door no different from the others. There is a hint of some sort of graffiti, but rust has long chipped away at it.
"Alright where here" Lieutenant lifts the roller door, revealing racks of guns, weapons, and a workbench.  "what do we know about the security?"
Silicon pulls out a small screen with a wire going along her sleeve to her backpack. she shows us the screen revealing a mechanical humanoid with an LED screen for a face. "An old model for security androids, weirdly enough I've never seen any footage of them with weapons."
"that's fine," said Lieutenant "they probably have an Armory stored somewhere else. By the time they can deploy any actual threats, we'll be gone" He opens a small grated locker filled with guns. He pulls out a small rifle with a barrel wrapped in copper wiring shrouded in a small metal box with holes in it, the magazine is cylindrical and lauded on the top. "BR Zeus with the modified coil-gun barrel, able to shoot the 6.8mm neodymium core ammunition. perfect gun to take down any android." I have heard of this gun before, it is originally designed for security personnel as a small lightweight gun that can hold 100 rounds in the cylinder. Inside the gun is a small computer that actively calculates every shot and adjusts the sights and the gun itself to be as accurate as possible. The weirdly shaped magazine doesn't just hold its obscenely large capacity but its battery too. It was designed so that a minimally trained soldier can become a marksman. It also looks like the Lieutenant added the coil to make the bullet go faster and magnetize it.
"Well, you got the collection," I say to him
"well I like variety," says to me.
I point at a gun I recognize "hay isn't that the gun you shot me with?"
"Anyways, what else do we need?" Lieutenant avoided my question and turns to silicon.
"As long as we stay unnoticed," Silicon Says reassuringly "The only thing we need is me and my computer. We only need the guns when things get out of hand."
"Alright then, I'll start packing the contingency plan" Lieutenant takes out a large black bag and puts three guns and multiple magazines in the bag.
"If that's the case," I say to them "let's go" we all walk out of the storage unit and make our way to the logistics dock.

Dark brown fog covers the area that smells of toxic chemicals and fills the lungs. Fortunately, we all have respirators but the toxic fumes are thick and only just keep you alive here. Due to the toxic air, everyone has some sort of respirator. Those who don't usually die very quickly, or are very young. When children are born they sometimes have to put on another oxygen supply so they wouldn't suffocate, of course, this cost this almost a fortune, and this leads to a high mortality rate all over the world. Even if they do survive they have a high chance of getting lung and breathing impairments, like Silicon's asthma. I guess you can me lucky because I grew up without having those, maybe because my home had cleaner air or maybe just fate. All I know is that I'm glad I can breathe well.
We sneak through a maze of cargo containers made specifically for space travel. The blindness of the Smaug is broken up by cargo containers that feel like walls and the high beam lights of the security bots.
As we make it through I see Silicon struggle, her asthma is worsened in this Smaug. her breathing becomes almost like whimpers.
"she won't make it much longer, we have to find that container," Lieutenant says to me
"how much farther Sili"
Silicon struggles to even inhale "just...Pass...this...wall" she points at the container behind her.
I peak a corner and see two security bots guarding the container. "not good" I sighed
Silicon starts violently coughing "even worse now" the two security bots start heading towards us. Lieutenant readies his gun, as the Bots peak the corner they find nothing.
we climb down from the cargo container and enter the one we are using to enter Mirage oasis.
Silicon takes off her respirator and takes a puff from her inhaler. "that was close"
the container starts moving.
"Well, Mirage Oasis here we come."
