Chapter 7:

Hunting Quest

Isekai Chandler

Tana is now registered as an adventurer, and we are now looking for a quest to take on the quest board. We are able to take a decent amount of quests due to the fact that Claire is quite capable.

“Huh... a kill quest...” (Claire)

Claire picks up a job sheet off the board and reads it out loud. Kill quest sounds interesting, sounds kind of badass. So far we have only done that one patrol quest, so I guess this may be a step up if we take it.

“Hunt, and slay a monster in a cave... reward is 150 silver...” (Claire)

“150 silver!? Is that a lot?” (Chandler)

150 Silver sounds big, my gear was 6 silver, and our stay at the inn was less. If I had that kind of cash, I could stop having a girl pay for me.

“Yes... 150 silver is a decent payout... However this quest says another adventurer party already died trying to complete...” (Claire)

Holy shit this quest sounds hardcore, sadly it doesn’t sound like a park walk, but I want the money and the XP.

“Ku ku ku, I want to do the quest!” (Tana)

“I don’t know, it says recommended for silver ranked adventurers or higher...” (Claire)

“Then it shouldn’t be a problem for your party.” (???)

“Huh? Who are you?” (Claire)

We all turn back to the source of the voice, it is a smiling young man with short bright red hair and white clothes. Who even is this guy.

“Sorry, my name is Zale, I am a silver ranked adventurer. I have been hearing recent rumors about an interesting new party of adventurers, so I came to check it out. But you all should be able to handle the quest since the young lady over their is in fact a silver ranked adventurer.” (Zale)

Huh? Claire is a silver ranked adventurer? I guess it’s my fault that I never asked though. I should learn about the ranking system of the adventurers guild later.

“That’s true but I don’t know if we as a party are prepared yet.” (Claire)

“Then you’ll just have to prepare, and raise your levels, if Hideki helps your group out, then you must be good people. I will lend you all a quick hand.” (Zale)

That’s true, the quest doesn’t say anything about a deadline, so it should be alright to accept it an prepare for a bit.

“What kind of help are you offering?” (Claire)

“I’m glad you asked. I’m an adventurer who specializes in an array of magical spells, and I’m willing to teach a few spells, so how about it?” (Zale)

Zale continues to smile after giving his offer. I would like to learn some badass spells.

“Well I specialize in ice magic and there aren’t any spells in my magic class that I need to learn right now. My other two party members don’t use any magic either...” (Claire)

“I would like to learn spells!” (Chandler)

Don’t use magic my ass, I’m learning some cool magic.

“Hmm... looks like this one wants to learn some magic. I will teach you some basics. What is your name, and what type of magic do you have an aptitude for?” (Zale)

“My name is Chandler Brown, and I have an aptitude in defense magic.” (Chandler)

My magic aptitude might not be as cool as I may have wanted, but there still could be a broken defense spell I could learn.

“Well then I will gladly teach you some basics on magic. Follow me Chandler Brown.” (Zale)

Zale leads me to an empty meeting room in the guild building, while Claire and Tana wait outside the room.

“So to start with, there are five magic classes, these classes gauge how powerful a spell is, and class 1 magic is the weakest out of the five. Higher class spells consume more MP than lower class spells, and usually require a higher level or aptitude to even learn.” (Zale)

Makes sense that’s why Claire would always chant the spell class.

“Also remembering to chant the name and class of the spell will increase the efficiency of the chanted spell. When you first try and learn a spell, you will unlock your MP bar, and will be able to visualize how much magic energy you have.” (Zale)

That’s why I couldn’t see any magic stats right away when I last checked.

“Okay then, let’s learn some magic.” (Chandler)

“Ha, that’s the spirit! The two spells I’m going to teach you are both basic class 1 support spells that fit your aptitude, defense up, and attack up. Defense magic users can usually learn basic support magic to help their parties.” (Zale)

Zale hands me a two scrolls, I open the first one, and begin to read it. I can’t understand the ancient writing on this, damn.

But then suddenly a pop-up appears in the center of my vision

<Class 1 Support Magic, Defense Up, learned>

Alright, great looks like I learned a spell. A blue MP meter appears under my health bar, it looks like my magic capacity is smaller than my maximum health.I then open and read the next scroll, and I get a similar pop-up in my vision.

<Class 1 Support Magic, Attack Up, learned>

“Alright Chandler, looks like you learned the spells, time to cast your first spell.” (Zale)

“Okay.” (Chandler)

Kickass, it’s finally time to use some magic!

“Great. First face the palm of your hand towards your target, then chant your spells name, and then visualize magic energy leaving your hand, and then visualize it effecting your desired target. Try it it’s easy!” (Zale)

I point the palm of my hand at Zale.

“Okay! Um... Class 1 Support magic, defense up.” (Chandler)

An orange aura comes from my hand then briefly glows on Zale.

“Good it seems you raised my defense, now you can use basic magic!” (Zale)

Me and Zale leave the room and meet up with Claire and Tana again.

“I taught the kid some magic, now you all can accept that quest and maybe level up a bit on the way. I’ll be curious as to how it turns out.” (Zale)

Zale waves his hand and walks away. What an interesting guy, at least now I can use some magic. Claire looks over at me and Tana.

“It’s time to begin the quest.” (Claire)

Claire had accepted the quest and then the three of us spent the night at the inn, so that we would be well rested for our hunting quest.
