The School Life of Tanahashi

It's spring.

It's here.

A new chapter arises and our story continues.

As the cherry blossom falls.

A new school year has begun, and thus, our final year together has started.

Students are looking at the board outside of the building, checking which class are they in.

Miu asked, "Can you see it, Shin?"

I tried to look but I can't see anything from the crowd, "I can't see our names from this far, Miu."

Nise, who's also searching, "This crowd is too much!"

Miu followed, "I can't see anything from here."

Itsuki, who's behind us, "Oh, I'm on Class 3-A"

Miu asked Itsuki, "Can you also check our classes too, Itsuki."

Itsuki replied, "Gotchu."

Itsuki looks at the board again and starts searching for our names, "We're all in the same class."

Miu was surprised and can't believe it, "Wait, really?!"

Nise celebrated, "Let's go!"

I added, "All we need to do is find our classroom."

Itsuki followed, "It's on the third floor."

We all went to the third floor and entered our new classroom, Class 3-A.

Miu suggested, "We all should sit next to each other."

Nise looked around and pointed at the chair with someone's bag on it, "That's Yuuki's bag, right?"

I looked at it, "It is."

We placed our bags into the seats that is next to Yuuki's seat.

A teacher asked everyone in the class, "Everyone, line up. We're all going to the auditorium for the entrance ceremony."

We all lined up in the hallway and went to the auditorium and sit at the chairs that were already placed in the auditorium.

"To start the ceremony, we may ask the president of the student council, to take the stage."

The student council president marches and takes the podium and starts her speech.

"Welcome to our school. My name is Yuuki Uchida and I'm your student council president. For everyone in this school, I'll do my best to make this year fun."

She ends her speech as the principal gave his speech as well. About a few minutes, the entrance ceremony was finished.

We all returned to our classroom, and homeroom was about to start.

Our new homeroom teacher enters the classroom.

Miu reacted, "It's you again, Sensei?

The homeroom teacher replied, "Unfortunately, you'll be stuck with me again, Chiba-san."

Well, not a new homeroom teacher.

The classroom door opens and Sakura enters the classroom, "I'm sorry I'm late, Sensei."

The homeroom teacher said, "It's fine. Sit down, Kyouko-san."

Sakura sits on a free seat next to Miu.

The homeroom teacher started the first homeroom of the year, "Everyone, nice to meet you. I'll be your homeroom teacher for the rest of the year. I'm Sho Nakano but everyone calls me Sensei for some reason. Some of the students are already my previous students from the previous year."

Wait, that was his name. I didn't know that.

Sensei continued talking," By the way, everyone will be changing based on alphabetical order."

Miu reacted, "What?!"

I teased Miu and waved my hand at her, "Bye-bye, Miu."

Everyone in the class started changing seats. I'm sitting in the final row, on the right side, next to the windows and I just kept staring at the blue sky.

A girl sat next to me and said, "We're seatmates again, Shin."

I turned around and it was Yuuki.

That's right, our names are literally next to each other.

Sensei asked everyone in the class, "By the way, is there someone that is willing to become the class representative for this class? One male and one female."

Everyone started looking at each other.

Yuuki whispered at me, "Shin, why don't we try it?"

I replied, "Wouldn't be a hassle?"

She answered, "Don't worry about it. It's all going to be all right."

I followed, "Let me think about it."

Her eyes went kept staring at me, "Please, Shin."

I replied, "Fine, I'll do it."

Yuuki raised her hand and said, "I'll do it, Sensei."

Sensei replied, "Gotcha. We need one more."

I raised my hand and said, "Sensei, I volunteer."

Sensei asked, "Are you sure about this, Tanahashi-Kun?"

I replied, "Yes, Sensei."

Sensei was conflicted about it but he just let me do it, "Okay. Tanahashi-Kun and Uchida-san are your class representatives. If you need something, you can ask them for help. Got that, everyone?"

Everyone in the class understood it and Sensei proceeded to explain, "Our calendar has some changes, unlike last year. The cultural festival has been moved from December to mid-February."

One of the students ask, "Why did they change it, Sensei?"

Sensei explained, "It was adjusted for you third-years who will be taking entrance exams at college. Most entrance exams will be held around October to December. The student council proposed the idea to move the cultural festival to a later date, so you guys can enjoy it."

The students in the class have positive feedback about the change.

Sensei continued, "Another thing, here's your schedule for the whole term."

Sensei wrote our schedule on the blackboard and said, "I know this is your final year as high school students and you want to enjoy it as much as possible but don't forget to focus on your studies. That's all."

He leaves the classroom and classes started.

The bell rang and lunch has begun.

I looked at Yuuki, "Are we going to the usual spot?"

Yuuki replied, "Not today, Shin."

I asked, "Not today? There's nothing to do right now at the student council."

Yuuki replied, "There actually something to do, Shin."

I followed, "You're kidding, right?"

Yuuki shook her head, "I'm not kidding, there actually is, Mr. Vice-President of the student council."

Yes, I was appointed by Yuuki as the vice president of the student council.

I replied, "I'll tell Itsuki that we can't come with them."

I looked around but Itsuki is not around the room, "Where's Itsuki?"

Not just Itsuki, but also Nise, Miu, and Sakura.

Yuuki stands up, "Let's go now, Shin."

She didn't even answer my question. We went to the student council room. Yuuki checks her pockets, "Shin, can you open it for me?"

I asked, "Don't you have the keys?"

She replied, "I must have left it in my bag in the classroom."

I grab the spare key from my pocket, "I got it," and unlock the door.

I opened the door...

Confetti starts falling down like the cherry blossoms outside of the school.

"Happy Birthday, Shin!!"

I see Miu, Itsuki, Nise, and Sakura, who all greeted me with a happy birthday.

"Happy Birthday, Shin."

I looked behind and it was Yuuki who said that and behind her is Murata-Kun, Nagao-san, and Uchiyama-san, who are all part of the student council with me and Yuuki.

I smiled at all of them, "Thanks, everyone."

Sensei, who's also inside the room and has a plate of food in his hands already, "I'll be going now, make sure to clean this before lunch ends. Also, happy birthday, Tanahashi-Kun."

I replied, "Thanks, Sensei," as he leaves the student council room.

Miu seemingly can't wait, "Let's eat! My stomach is growling."

We all ate in the student council room and while we were cleaning the room, Yuuki called me, "Shin, can you come here for a second?"

I went outside of the student council room, "What's up, Yuuki?"

She hands out a present, "This is for you, Shin."

I asked, "For me?"

She nods at me and I accepted the gift she gave and opened it.

It's a silver necklace. I wore it.

I replied, "It's pretty. Thanks, Yuuki."

She smiled, "Glad you like it, Shin."

"Aren't you lovebirds having a moment there?"

Yuuki and I turned around and it was Miu and everyone else just casually watching us.
