Chapter 9:

Bonus: The New Princess

The Nice General

After General Li’s death, Queen Zhang took in Heixin as her daughter. Heixin was now a princess. Queen and King Zhang now raised her. Now, let us see Heixin’s upbringing under her new King and Queen.

5 Years Old

It was a cloudy, but not too cold day in December.

“生日快乐!🎊💥”, said everyone in the room.

(Happy Birthday!)

They were all standing near Heixin. They gave her a small knife to cut a large red cake (蛋糕), which was almost the size of the table. 🎂 🔪.

Xiaoxin Mao (小心 猫) was King Zhang’s mistress and bodyguard; the woman who replaced Queen Zhang for about half a year; the one who was younger, fairer and more beautiful than the Queen. She had a child with King Zhang, in the queen’s absence.

This child was just recently born. Because she was King Zhang’s mistress, Xiaoxin was not treated very well, especially by Queen Zhang. Xiaoxin was forced to become a maid and she and her child were forced to remain on the sidelines.

However, Hexin was kind enough to give Xiaoxin a piece of her huge birthday cake. Heixin raised her small hands upwards to give Xiaoxin the piece of cake on an expensive ceramic plate.

“猫小姐,我想送你一些蛋糕”, expressed Heixin.

(Miss Mao, I would like to give you some cake)

Here is where Heixin first met the baby named “Baitou”(白头). The baby had striking white hair. It was a strong contrast to Heixin’s stark black hair.

The white haired infant took a bite out of the cake. In the next moment, the baby threw up. 🤮

“我觉得他不喜欢甜东西”, said Xiaoxin.

(I guess he does not like sweet things)

Queen Zhang pulled Heixin over away from Xiaoxin and Heixin was taken to a table that had longevity noodles (寿面) and a bowl filled with red eggs (红蛋).

“快快,吃吃一下”, demanded Queen Zhang.

(Hurry up and eat some of this real quick)

Heixin covered her eyes and picked up a noodle with red ceramic chopsticks 🥢 and she began to suck up the noodle.

Everyone in the room watched with anticipation. They were curious about how long her noodle would be. And wow! The noodle Heixin ate must have been as long as the Great Wall If China!

Everyone at the table was amazed and clapped. It was predicted that Heixin would have a long and healthy life.

Queen Zhang was dressed in very expensive clothing, which was made with the highest quality of silk one could fine. She decided to try a longevity noodle.

“呵呵。我觉得今天也是我生日”, Queen Zhang joked to herself.

(Hehe... I feel like today is also my birthday)

Her smile faded away. Queen Zhang’s noodle’s length disappointed her greatly.

10 Years Old

As the princess, Heixin had to learn how to act like a proper lady. She learned about walking with perfect posture and having proper table manners. However, Heixin requested that she be taught how to fight. She wanted to continue the training she had done with Mr. Li. But obviously, Mr. Li is gone.

Heixin would go through the same training King Zhang went through during his youth. She was enrolled in a class with other rich and royal children. Heixin was the only girl, however, she was a top student because of her prior experience with Mr. Li years ago.

There was a tournament. Heixin was to face another top student. His name was Manshou (慢手). Manshou was very powerful and he dealt critical hits, however, he was slow.

King and Queen Zhang, Xiaoxin and Baitou watched from the audience. Heixin was able to block Manshou’s attacks but she was knocked back and thrown to the floor by them.

Heixin remembered the technique that Mr Li. taught her: the feint attack. She quickly pretended to strike at Manshou’s right side, stopped and then quickly turned around and attacked Manshou on his left side.

Manshou was hit and was taken down. King Zhang was shocked because he saw this move used for a second time in his life. He could almost see Heixin as a mini-General Li.

“Good job”, congratulated a smiling King Zhang.

15 Years Old

Heixin knocked her opponent to the floor in an instant. She was competing in a tournament on the national level. Heixin reaches out her hand to help her opponent off of the ground. She was declared the winner. Heixin wiped off the sweat on her face.

Baitou, now 10 years old, worked as a butler with his mom, Xiaoxin, who was still a maid. His striking white hair was longer now and ran down to his shoulders. He offered Heixin a towel, and a cup of water.

“谢谢你。这杯水很冷!❄️”, exclaimed Heixin.

(Thank you. This cup of water is quite cold!)

The two walked to a bakery, where Baitou worked. He learned all of his baking skills there.

“请等。我要把一个蛋糕送您”, said the polite white haired boy.

(Wait here. I’m going to go get a cake and give it to you)

Baitou came back from the kitchen and gave Heixin a slice of red velvet cake.

“谢谢你。蛋糕很可口 😋!你做饭甜东西得很好,可是你真不喜欢它们。我觉得那个很笑。” complimented Heixin.

(Thank you. This cake is tasty! I find it funny that you are good at cooking sweets, but you don’t like them.)

“哈哈!我也想那个很笑。我每天祝我能做什么你能做”, replied Baitou.

(Haha! I also think it’s kinda funny. Everyday, I wish I could do everything you can do)

Suddenly, someone screams from the kitchen. Heixin and Baitou both run into the kitchen and they see a middle aged man stealing food from the restaurant’s kitchen. After a couple of seconds, Heixin realized who it was.

“你。。。”

(You. . .)

Heixin’s face tensed up. She was almost like a rabid dog who was bearing its fangs. Heixin charged at the man and used quick punches to the man’s face and ribs and used kicks to the back of the man’s neck and thighs to knock him down to his knees.

She looked the man in his eyes, as if she had a vengeance for him. Even without further physical contact, the defeated man could feel Heixin’s strong animosity.

Who was this man?

“你。。。你还做错活动。。。”, said Heixin.

(You... You’re still doing bad activities...)

He did not recognize Heixin because he had not seen her since she was a young child. Heixin kicked the man to the ground. She stood over the defeated man, picked up the long knife and raised it to his head.

This was a man who caused her misery, when she was younger. The one who mistreated her mother and forced her to steal. She wanted to kill him, but then Baitou moved in front of Heixin.

“Heixin... I know he stole from us... but... killing him is too far”, pleaded Baitou. Heixin faintly remembered what Mr. Li told her 10 years ago.

“Show mercy”, requested Baitou. Heixin could only see Mr. Li’s face, once Baitou said that. Heixin lowered the weapon.

“去”, ordered Heixin.

(Go)

The man got up and ran away, while screaming, “Momma! Momma!” It seemed that Baitou would be the new light to shine on the darkness within Heixin’s heart.

16 Years Old

Unfortunately, the darkness in Heixin’s heart remained. That man from her past staunchly reminded her of Mr. Li who saved her from him. Heixin was reminded that the one who caused Mr. Li’s death was her own foster mother, Queen Zhang. This anger that Heixin felt was something she almost could not control.

She picked up a vase 🏺, screamed and threw it at the wall. The vase shattered instantly and shards flew all over the royally clean floors. Queen Zhang, Xiaoxin and Baitou were walking by Heixin’s room, when they heard the exploding vase.

“Hmmm... must be the Teenage Angst”, suggested Queen Zhang.

“Should I check up on her, my lady?”, asked Xiaoxin. Queen Zhang noticed that Baitou wanted to go too, as he looked very worried.

“好啊,可以。你还去、白头。”, allowed Queen Zhang.

(That’s a nice idea. Go ahead. You too, Baitou)

About 10 minutes later, Baitou walked into the room and brought a strawberry shortcake for Heixin. She had a tear rolling down her cheek. Once she noticed Baitou, she quickly wiped her tear away.

“我想送你这个蛋糕。我们再高兴吧!”

(I would like to give you this cake... Let’s be happy again!“, encouraged Baitou.

“谢谢你,白头”

(Thank you, Baitou)

Heixin appeared to feel better now. She gave a bright smile after biting into the cake. Xiaoxin entered now and she sat beside Heixin.

“Baitou, go get the princess some milk to eat with that”, ordered Xiaoxin. Baitou left the room.

“And Princess... are you... are you sad because of what happened 11 years ago?”, asked Xiaoxin.

“Yes.”

“Well... my dear... do you want revenge...?”, questioned Xiaoxin, as she caught another tear which escaped Heixin’s left eye.

“Yes.”

Maid Xiaoxin smiled.

17 Years Old

“明天我可能开始一个战争。别来工作。”, ordered Heixin.

(I might start a war tomorrow. Don’t go to work)

“Huh?... 你失去过你头?Will you... be okay?”, asked Baitou.

“Yes... No need to worry about me. When I come back, I’ll eat some of your cake for sure...”, reassured Heixin, as she gave a big smile.

Heixin got all dressed in a fancy black hanfu. After walking into the palace, she entered a room with very wealthy politicians, royalty and lawyers from all over the Unified Country. Heixin gracefully, sat next to a relatively tall, rich, young and handsome man.

“你今天十七年。黑心,他不久是你丈夫”, said Queen Zhang.

(You are now 17 years old. Heixin, soon, he will be your husband)

“我认识你很高兴。请让我介绍我。我姓雪,叫黄雪”, revealed the handsome prince.

(It is a pleasure to meet you. Now, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Huang Xue)

Suddenly, Special Ops: Team Sheep stormed in and surrounded everyone in the room.

“I am taking over. All of you will surrender... or perish”, shouted Princess Heixin.
