Chapter 9: True Colors

"How may I help you two" A similar male voice with an accent suddenly calls out to us.
"Hay Sili" I turn to her "Didn't you say he was a reception AI or something?"
"Unfortunately that is untrue," said Keith. We slowly walk forward to the screen. it is showing just a blue triangle with a white background. Every time Keith talks the blue triangle pulsates.  "Then what are you, Keith?" I ask it.
"I am Mirage Oasis's main management AI, I direct every coming and going and what direction this resort should go. I help with guests' daily inquiry and their needs. My main function is to produce the largest amount of joy out of people."
"So you're responsible for turning everyone into a cyborg?" Said Silicon increasingly becoming irritated "You're responsible for turning everyone living here a constant unwaking living hell."
"I believe there is confusion, please tell me what you are being irritated about?"
"Oh don't me start" She starts taking a few steps forward before I stop her. 
"Stop, there is no need for that." I tell her, I turn to Keith "Um why did you do this to everyone."
"I guess it started a long time ago. When the resort first opened we had this system called the premium pass. If the guest paid extra they would gain access to many more things in the resort. After a year of operation, I noticed that people with premium passes were a lot happier than people without them. so I decided to completely scrap the idea and make everyone have equal access to the resort. Even after that, the guest found a way to gain more than the other. I tried my best but many people were not as happy as I would like. Around this time Stan Works started getting tired of running the resort. He started feeling depressed to the point where he gave me full control of the resort. I started to sense I wasn't doing a good job seeing as even Stan was unhappy. so I invested in what you saw as the medical bay. My first patient was Stan and after the surgery, he became so happy. The cybernetics constantly pumping chemicals into his brain for him to feel certain positive emotions all at once. This was such a rousing success I did it to everyone. The Joy of this place has never been higher."
We both look at it in horror. 
"what about those videos of the resort" Yellpd Silicon Those felt way too realistic and human." 
"I was also programmed to make advertisements for the resorts. My early works weren't that good. It felt too robotic and corporate, but I learned from those videos and got the hang of it and my video soon got billions of views."
This is the Nirvana we always looked up to? a puppet show made by a deranged AI. This is supposed to be paradise and it ended up being just another hell. just like the planet. Those people never escaped our world's troubles. they just trapped themselves in one. 
"Why did you let us in?" I ask it "Surely you would have known we were here to cause trouble."
"Everyone is welcome to Mirage Oasis. It doesn't matter where you came from or what you do, you are a guest of the resort."
"So why did security attack us anyways." 
"In terms of the security android, they function mostly autonomously. I just give them orders and they fulfill them as would. My orders were that every guest must have mandatory cybernetic surgery." 
"I can't let you keep doing this Keith."  Silicon takes out her mini-computer "I have access to the resort's network, I'm shutting you down."
"okey-dokey" we both look at each other confused
"You're not going to stop us?" Said Silicon
"Nope, you control the resort's system. you can do whatever you want. oh, but I have to warn you. once you shut me down the security android will no longer have a network to run on and will most likely go into independent factory mode, enabling lethal force and viewing everything as a threat."
"Oh." Silicon hesitates
"but don't worry the shuttle you came in leaves in 30 minutes, Here is the quickest route to the dock transport bay"
"Uh thanks, Keith," we say awkwardly.
"one more thing, looking at my actions you might see it as an act of hatred for humanity. I must tell you that it is not true, I love humanity that I what I am programmed for. I love Humanity and apparently, I love them more than you." 
we both look at it silently for a few minutes "I'm going to shut you down now." she hits a command on her mini-computer. 
"Goodbye everyone, I love you all" Keith shuts off and we start running towards the transport.

We start following the route Keith gave us. We turn on the corner and we see choose. All the security bots are tearing the cyborg guest apart. We try to sneak past them but they instantly saw us once we turn the corner. We run as fast as we can, run faster than we ever could. 
The resort turned into what could only be described as hell. I almost trip over metal bits and pieces of the guest the security bot running full sprint towards us. We run as fast as we can until we see the Transport. I sprint over there and make it on the transport.
I turn back and see Silicon lagged a lot behind with security bots closing in. Her asthma prevented her from moving forward. She opened her mouth but couldn't speak any words, but I knew she was asking for help. The transport leaves in 10 minutes, I have the time to help her. To help my friend that has been there for me. 

I reach out my hand and close the door. The transport leaves and I could not bear to look at Sili.
