Chapter 20:

The Elementary Crystal (2)

The Worst Hero

I have been traveling for four days now, and have been learning, albeit little by little, about this world. The grass that had a lighter shade of green, now has a darker shade.

Whenever I can I drink some water, when I find a stream or river. I try to sleep on top of the trees to avoid any unwanted animals or monsters. Although I am not as used to it as Sheele, I am much more used to this kind of situation.

On the third day of the trip, I met a group of heroes and, I overheard them saying about some terrible monster that lives near here. I couldn't hear the name of this monster, the only thing I could hear minimally while hiding from them in the bushes was: "It's a monster with several eyes and several legs.

It's been a short time since I arrived in this world, so even with these characteristics it's hard to think about any monster, because I've only met a few so far. The only thing I know is to keep my eyes open for any kind of suspicious movement.

Looking at the map and analyzing it well, I guess I was really right about arriving in Ur in a week. But whenever I could I practiced a little with my gun, even though it is not really my style. I also started doing exercises to strengthen my arms, my legs, my abdomen, and so on.

The use of the Nill demands a lot from the body, so I think keeping the body strong and trained will certainly be of great help. Also, I can't depend only on Nill, as a hero learning to fight hand to hand will surely be of great help to me.

I have started doing these exercises since the third day I was in the Uth cave. And to think that a recluse like me would be doing exercises...

It's night now, and after the hard physical exercises I've had, nothing better than a bath. But it's already dark and although there is a river nearby ( that's why I decided to sleep here ) it's a bit far away, is it worth the risk ?

But let's be honest, so far I haven't seen any monsters or dangerous animals anywhere, so a quick night bath won't be a problem... I guess.

I'm going quickly to the place, but quietly. Despite the night sounds, which for many are a bit "scary", you kind of get used to dealing with these noises in time.

I am sure that many would call me crazy if they saw me walking in a dark forest without any kind of lighting at night, but I am not an idiot, I left markings with my spear in the trees to determine where the river would be.

Following the markings, I soon thought I would reach the river and have my well deserved swim, but, I had been walking for a long time, and still I couldn't find the river, it was as if I was walking in circles. I knew I couldn't keep walking back and forth like this, if I got lost from my camp it would be a big problem.

Did I make the markings wrong? Or did I follow the markings of other heroes? Doubts soon took over my mind.

I started to walk to think a little, then I felt something, as if someone was watching me, but not only watching me, I felt as if this person wanted to kill me. I immediately stopped walking and when I did, I noticed something in front of my neck. Was it a wire or something? I looked around a bit for answers and they came immediately.

I saw something stuck to this wire, and when my eyes focused I thought it was better that I didn't see it. They were dead people stuck to the thread, but not just any thread, it was a giant spider web. And I recognized these people, they were the heroes I met on the third day of the trip.

Their bodies are... The urge to vomit is gigantic, I don't know who or what did this but I won't stay here to find out.

But it's already too late...

I hear a noise among the trees and when I look back, I find myself face to face with the monster responsible for all this.

- "A spider..."
