The Date With the Kouhai (Part 1)

The next day came rolling in without a care in the world. School seemed to pass by almost instantly to the point where I was slightly nervous about what was to come after school.

"Why am I nervous right now...?"

For some reason, I was nervous about going on a date with Yuki. Even though I had gone out with her previously alongside my sister and what not, somehow being alone with her today was weird and nerve-wracking.

"Just a little bit more and then it's time..."

That was the only thing I could even think about in that single moment, everything that the teacher was telling us was going through one ear and then out the other.

As the last class was upon us, out of nowhere, the sound of the teacher calling my name caught my attention.

"Tadao!"

"Y-Yes?"

I quickly stood up from my seat and stared at my teacher to which she smiled and glanced over at Akemi as well "Would the both of you please bring me some of the materials for class, please? I left them on my desk"

"Of course, come on"

She signaled me with a smile and thus the both of us started making our way out of the classroom and towards the teachers' lounge where we were supposed to obtain what we were looking.

As we were making our way towards the location, silence enveloped the both of us for almost the entire way there, but for a moment, the sound of a whisper caught my attention.

"I'm glad..."

"Did you say something?"

She glanced over at me and started blushing a bit. She shook her head and smiled at me "It's nothing. I was just wondering that it's nice finally being able to be together like this and not be worried about us going after one another"

"When you put it like that it makes it seem as though I was gunning for you or something"

She let out a small giggle and smiled at me "I know that you weren't but at the same time, a lot happened between us so it was only logical that people would believe that we despised ourselves or something"

"I guess you have a point"

"..."

"..."

Once again silence enveloped the both of us. We arrived at the teachers' lounge, grabbed what we needed and started heading back towards our classroom. 

As we were doing so, in the back of my mind, I couldn't help but keep thinking about the fact that I was supposed to be heading out with Yuki on a date.

"What am I going to do exactly?"

"Tadao"

"I don't even know where she wants to go..."

"Tadao~?"

"Whatever it is, I have to make it enjoyable so that she doesn't tell my sister or something"

"Tadao!"

"H-Huh?"

"Is everything alright?"

"Y-Yeah, I'm just thinking about something, that's all"

"..."

"W-What?"

"It's about a girl, isn't it?"

"What makes you say that?"

"I can tell, that's all"

"..."

"Who's the lucky girl~?"

For some reason, she was acting like the girl she was before, the kind and gentle girl that would always tease people around her and I couldn't help but find myself staring at her for that brief moment.

"So?"

I shook my head and sighed "It's just Yuki. She asked me to go out on a date for whatever reason"

"... She did?"

"Yeah, it's kind of a pain since I wanted to relax after leaving school, but it's the least I could do to make her a least a little bit happy"

"I see..."

For some reason, she dismissed the entire conversation and continued walking on without a care in the world. 

"I wonder what that was about..."

Once we arrived at the classroom, we gave the things to the teacher and headed back to our seats.

As I did so, I couldn't help but find myself staring at her for that moment "I wonder what that was all about..."

The rest of the class passed by without a care in the world and before I knew it, it was already time for us to start making our way out of school and towards our houses, but in my case, it was time for me to go to my date with her.

Just when I was about to start making my way out of the classroom when out of nowhere, the sound of the door opening caught my attention, but the one thing that made me figure out who it was wsa the way the person called out to me.

"Tadao-senpai~!"

"She's here..."

She walked over towards my desk with a smile on her face and before I could do anything or say anything to her, she grabbed hold of my hand and pulled me up "Let's go on our date, Tadao-senpai~"

"H-Hey, wait a minute!"

"No can do~"

She was too eager to go on our date. I didn't know what to say in the moment, but at the same time, when my gaze met Akemi's, for some reason, there was a hint of sadness on her eyes.

"..."

She looked away from me and headed towards her friends who were also leaving. I didn't know what to do in the situation, but whatever it was, the only thing I did know was the fact that I needed to go on my date with Yuki at all costs and everything else that would be happening around me would be resolved in due time.

"I'll ask her tomorrow what that was all about"

With that out of the way, the both of us left my classroom and started making our way out of the school and towards the city to let her experience the date that she so much wanted.

As I saw Tadao and Yuki leaving together hand in hand, I couldn't help but feel a pain in my chest. I knew what it was, but at the same time, I couldn't allow such a thing to continue.

It was because of me that our relationship had ended, it was unfair for me to try and get back with him, but at the same time, I wanted to be with him once more and start again as if we were just starting to date.

"What should I do...?"

The question lingered in my mind, and it would continue being like that until I'd decide once and for all what to do.
