Chapter 23:

The Long Awaited Day

Reset?

I will make them pay! I will make them pay! I will make them pay!

There was not a single day where I, Leon Rando, would not curse Anna, Jack and Fynn in my mind.

Those three... If it weren't for them , then I would have led a peaceful life. I would have been still surrounded by my friends. My youth would have been ordinary but also fun.

I know. Some may not believe me if they were told that I had friends. But it was the truth.

I think it was around the time when I entered middle school. I was not someone who was able to magically attract people. I was just an ordinary guy. But being ordinary was enough to make some friends.

Months passed and I found myself in a group of friends. We shared the same interests, laughed together, laughed at each other, hung out, copied each others' notes before class and so on. To put it simply: We enjoyed our youth.

However, everything changed when we were in our second year of middle school. It was the year where I met those three demons for the first time.

At first, everything seemed normal until one day when one of my friends stopped coming to school. Worried as I was, I tried to contact and visit him but he neither texted me back nor did he allow any visits.

And soon after his case, one after another in my group vanished. Just like the first one, they all stayed home and cut themselves off from the world.

It was then that I noticed Fynn Notic behaving weirdly around others. I was not able to shake that feeling off so I watched closely what he was doing and followed him sneakily. The first few days, nothing happened but I still kept on following him.

Then the day came. I still remember that day clearly. It was the day when I saw Fynn and some other people bullying a classmate. However, in that moment I was too scared to meddle in so I confronted Fynn in the class on the next day.

But he just completely ignored me. Naturally, I did not give up. Therefore, I kept on following him and watching him bullying people in hope to finally being brave enough to meddle in.

And after some time passed, I mustered up the courage to step in. I couldn't bear to only watch anymore. I wanted to save them even though it always ended with me and the victim being beaten up together.

Soon, this was my everyday life. The only difference was that Jack and Anna joined his mischief. At that point of time, those two were not on his level of cruelty but they were still demons in human skin.

Months passed until I finally noticed Fynn's calm composure slowly cracking. Ironically, it spelled the end for me.

I was prepared to be confronted by Fynn but I was not prepared for his methods.

I still had a few friends whom I treasured. I swore that I would do anything to make sure that they would not meet the same fate as the others. I would do anything and yet, in a wink I lost them all.

Without me noticing, Fynn managed to get rid of them.

It made me realize how powerless I was.

However, the powerlessness I felt on that day made me reach new heights. It was my thirst for revenge that kept me going for the following years...

...and until today.

“It's over now, Leon....” Fynn whispered.

“You're a lunatic...” I remarked as I struggled to pull the knife away from him.

I knew that Fynn was someone who would do anything to win but I couldn't imagine that he would actually pull such a crazy move like trying to stab himself.

“Hey, Jack! Got everything?” he shouted.

“Y-yes!” Jack responded nervously.

Hearing him, Fynn suddenly moved to the side and pulled the knife away. I did not expect it so I let go of the knife when I felt Fynn pulling it, too.

Clank!

The knife fell to the ground.

“I got everything on camera.” Fynn stated arrogantly as he sat down on a table.

“What...?”

“Why do you think I made Jack stand in the corner the entire time?”

I acted confused.

Sigh.

“He filmed us. Naturally I will edit it cutting off the unnecessary things. In the end, it will be only shown how you tried to stab me...” he explained to me while showing me his wide proud grin.

“I see...”

My shoulders slumped down and my gaze wandered down.

“It really is over...”

I raised my index slowly up until it pointed at Fynn.

“...for you.” I said with a grin that was even wider than his.

“Huh? The heck are you saying?” he grunted.

“Jack, you can stop the recording now.” I ordered him.

“Recording?”

“Yeah, I made him record literally everything.” I replied with a friendly looking face after I also sat down on a table.

“Everything?”

“It was a precautionary measure. I told him yesterday that he should go to school again and record every little talk with you. To be honest, I didn't expect that this strategy was such a success.” I elaborated calmly as I leaned backwards a bit with my hands put together at the back of my head.

“You lost, Fynn. We recorded everything from start to finish.”

“...”

It was silent

“...haha...” Fynn started to laugh silently.

His laugh got louder as time went on.

“Hahahaha! You really got me!” he admitted his defeat despite laughing like a psychopath.

“...”

I just stared at him sternly. I had a weird feeling...

“I should have just killed you.” he said with a swift in his tone.

“!”

I immediately realized that Fynn tried to get his hands on the knife which still was on the ground. So I hurried up kicked the knife away as I was lucky enough to be the first one to arrive.

“You- Ugh!”

I couldn't allow myself to miss this chance so I kicked his stomach.

“Just stay down!” I shouted as I pushed him down.

I managed to restrain him somehow by sitting on top of him.

“Get off me!”

He tried to free himself but I did not allow him to.

“You leave me no choice.”

Thus, I punched his face with all my might.

Ptu!

“How dare you...” Fynn looked at me furiously when spitted the blood in his mouth to the side.

“Just s-”

“Annoying. Annoying. Annoying! How can you piss me off so much?!” he ranted.

Fynn was like some chained wild beast trying to free himself.

“You can't imagine how much I hate you! Even back then, you would always stand in my way! Every single goddamn time! I hate how you tried to act like a hero despite making the situation even worse! I hate it! Do you know hard it is for me?! You know what my life looks like and yet you won't understand it!”

I just silently listened to his complaints.

“Do you know how it feels like to constantly seek the attention of your parents who wouldn't look at you?! My parents were rarely home. And if they were, then I would rush instantly home! And yet! And yet, if something happened to me, then both of them won't appear! Isn't that hilarious?!”

“Therefore, doing those things to those spoiled brats is my way of letting off some steam! If I don't do that then I would collapse! Haaa... Haaa...” Fynn panted heavily after shouting desperately the entire time.

His body finally gave up resisting.

“Do you know how hard it was for me to pretend to be your friend? It was the worst experience in my whole life... Every single day I was about to quit this farce, however I remembered my goal.” he continued talking but his voice was starting to get exhausted.

“...”

“It's childish but I knew that you hate me even more than I hate you so I thought that the humiliation and disgust I felt each day would affect you even more...”

I hate to admit it but he was right. I remembered how many times I puked and screamed when my memories returned. It was hell.

“No matter what I had to do and no matter how insignificant it may seem, as long as you suffer I would be content...”

Sigh.

This was a pretty long monologue.

“Well, I guess you could say that you won that battle. I admit that the humiliation I felt was unbearable.” I said as I put my hands up in the air like I was surrendering.

“However, I still won the war.” I added with a mocking smile.

“...”

Seemed like Fynn had no energy left to retort. Guess I'll wrap this up now.

“H-hey, someone's coming!” Jack informed us.

“Don't shit your pants. I called them.” I reassured him.

“Tch... What do you plan to do with me?” Fynn asked reluctantly.

“I will fulfill your wish.” I announced as I get off him.

In that moment, it looked as if Fynn restored his energy again. As he widened his eyes, he stood up rapidly and grabbed my collar.

“Wait! Don't tell me...” his voice was shaking.

“Now choose, Fynn. If you don't want that drug video to be leaked, then confess that you bullied people.” I said sternly.

“Of course that's not everything. You will apologize to every victim and their family in the presence of your own parents.” I added.

“You bast-”

“Wait, Fynn's parents are also on their way here?!” Jack reported after he took a quick glance in the floor.

“W-what...?”

And again, Fynn lost all the energy he had just now. His face looked like his soul left him. He broke down internally and fell on his knees.

“Any last words?” I asked.

People may call me cold-hearted but he's my archenemy. The person I hated the most. I won't show him any mercy.

“Anna told me that but is it really true...?” his depressed voice was barely audible.

“T-this whole thing... Getting drugged... Splitting the three of us up for revenge...”

While I listened to Fynn, I watched the door as I heard the people outside approaching the room.

“Did you really-”
