Chapter 1:
Gekidō
- “I made efforts to swallow tears and to protect the species of the Japanese nation.” – Emperor Hirohito.
This is the story about the start of an amazing empire lead by a very charismatic man named Yuji Yanagi. Or is it about his son... Who knows...
- 10 years before the “greatest change in history” -
“Master Yuji, wake up. Breakfast has been ready for 30 minutes.” Yuji woke up with a stabbing headache. He got up from bed and kissed the servant on her cheek.
- Yuji Yanagi – Age:36 – Occupation: Prince of Japan and first in line for the throne. -
He started walking towards the dining room, but then he heard screaming from his son's room.
“You fucking child, what the fuck are you doing under your bed! You are supposed to be eating already, why are you as lazy as your father?” The house cleaner was screaming at Gekidō while pulling him by his hair.
- Gekidō Yanagi – Age:6 – Occupation: Prince of Japan and second in line for the throne. -
Yuji knocked on the wall and the house cleaner looked behind himself and when he saw Yuji, he immediately let go of Gekidō’s hair.
“I didn't see you there Master, I was just getting your child out of bed but then I found him under his bed, and he doesn’t want to come out”
“He is lying to you, father! He forced me to get under the bed so you could punish me!” Gekidō does not even have fear in his voice to lie to his own father.
He crawled out from under the bed and spit on the cleaners shoes and tried to walk out of the room. Yuji grabbed Gekidō by his face and slammed him into the ground.
“Respect your elders Gekidō... You will not get anywhere if you keep forgetting that.” Yuji adjusted his pajamas and grabbed Gekidō by his clothes and carried him to the dining room and placed him on a chair.
One of the servants placed the dishes on the table and Yuji started eating while Gekidō was being attended to by the nurse.
“Why did you even slam him into the ground. He is your own son remember.”
“It is blood that does tie us to each other. I really do not mind beating him like this since my father did the same to me.”
“Well, you should not treat Gekidō the same. Just treat Gekidō better than the emperor treated you.”
“Are you two speaking about me…?” An old man’s voice echoed across the room, Yuji and the nurse looked towards the door as The Emperor Masaki Yanagi walked into the dining room.
- Masaki Yanagi – Age: 78 -
“Ahh. Good morning grandpa. How did u sleep?” Yuji smiled at the sight of Masaki and stood up from his chair.”
“I slept all right. Thank you for asking. Hey Miss.Kuroda, I think I might be getting a little sick again. I think it is bad for my health since I want to live until I make it to 100.” Masaki laughed and then started coughing immediately and then Kuroda ran up to him and helped him sit down. A servant brought him a glass of water and Masaki drank it. Gekidō looks at Masaki and frowns.
“Hey, old man. Do you think school is worth it?” Gekidō was feeling like he could skip school since he was one of the princes.
“School, you say? Well little Gekidō I went through kindergarten, preschool, middle school, high school, and university. Then my father died, and I had to become the emperor at a youthful age of 25. I would not say school was worth it, but it made me smart-”
“Alright you can be quiet now grandpa. Gekidō does not want to hear about your life. It is as boring as it could be.” Yuji sounded like he was annoyed by Masaki talking about his childhood when he had a rough one.
A man was dragged into the dining room by one of the royal guards.
“This strange man was knocking on the door and told us that he was invited. Is this true emperor?”
“HEY, LET ME GO I’M JUST THE NEW TEACHER!” The man was screaming and had been trying to bite the guard. The guard dropped him on the ground and stomped on him.
“No, I have not seen that man once-” Yuji tried to talk but Masaki immediately interrupted him.
“Yes, I hired him to privately teach Gekidō so he does not fail school. I hope you do not mind leaving him be.”
“Yes, your majesty. I am sorry for the misunderstanding.”
The guard helped the man up. The man wiped his clothes of dust and got on his knees.
“It’s a pleasure to help you, your majesty.”
Yuji started laughing at him and walked up to him and kneeled in front of him, smirking in his face.
“State your name and age and what do you do for a living.”
“The name is Hanazawa Shin. I am 28 years old, and I work at a café but in my free time I tutor kids, go to the shooting range, and learn taekwondo. I am also excellent in chess and any challenging game.”
“Hanazawa...” Yuji looked disgusted at him as that surname sounded familiar to him...
“Great. Mr. Hanazawa, you can already get to work. The person with the eyepatch and black hair is Gekidō, your new student.” Masaki smiled at Shin and then started eating his breakfast.
Gekidō got up from his chair, ran towards Hanazawa, Gekidō randomly swung his fist against the air like he was trying to push air, but then a gust of wind came from behind him and pushed Hanazawa and Yuji away.
“What the...” Yuji looked at Gekidō and saw that his hand and eye were bleeding. Instantly Shin ran towards Gekidō to check if he was all right. Gekidō smiled at Shin and hugged him...
A few years had passed as Hanazawa taught everything that he knew to Gekidō even some fighting moves and tactics in chess. Gekidō really liked Hanazawa and treated him as an older brother or mentor. Yuji did not ever like Hanazawa being at the palace, but at least he got Gekidō out of his life for some time. Gekidō had turned 16 and it was the day of his birthday. The day when everything in his life changed drastically.
- The day of the “greatest change in history” , May 19th 2023 -
“Happy Birthday Prince Gekidō!” His classmates cheered and a girl hugged him from behind and kissed him on his neck.
“Happy birthday bubs. I love you.” She giggled into his ear and then the classmates brought cake onto the table.
“Guys, you should not have done this. Even if I am one of the princes that does not mean you have to treat me differently than others.” Gekidō chuckled and blew out the candles on the cake.
They continued celebrating his birthday and the door busted right open and shin walked into the classroom with his hands filled with presents.
“Gekidō! It has been a while!”
“Mr. Hanazawa! Great to see you again.”
Gekidō got up from his chair, but he gets pulled back by the wind and suddenly Hanazawa gets pushed into the corridor.
“Shit, is it happening again?” Gekidō looked at his fingertips and they were bleeding. His classmates gathered around Shin to check on him... Gekidō blinked and then the blood was gone... His eye had also healed since his childhood. His ears were ringing as he heard 2 of his classmates talk about him from a distance.
“Hey... It was Gekidō who caused the wind... This has happened 2 other times previously. And it is always if he does some tragic move.”
“Yeah, he is a weird person sometimes. He is not like the rest of us.”
Gekidō looked behind and saw 2 people talking. One of them was Yutaka Komatsu, the twin brother of his girlfriend.
The school day had ended and Shin and Gekidō were driving to the palace together. They stepped out of the car and 3 royal guards approached them both and led them to the dining room where all the workers and guards were. The emperor stood up for the first time in a while. His health had deteriorated quickly in the past 10 years.
“Happy birthday. My great-great grandson. Enjoy your 16th birthday.”
Confetti fell from the ceiling, and everyone started cheering. Everyone was drinking, eating, dancing, and doing all kinds of things. Gekidō and Shin were sitting next to Masaki.
“Have you heard of Yuji? Is he also going to join the party?” Shin asked reluctantly.
“Yuji said he is busy as always. It has been the same for the past 10 years.”
Masaki sighed and took a sip of wine. The party kept going on for hours until everyone went home, and the guards and employees went back to work. Masaki was getting ready to go to bed as his room’s door opened. It was Yuji.
“Late again for your son's birthday? It is already the next day so you might as well go say happy birthday to him...”
“Gekidō’s birthday is not even that important old man. Do not think that it will ever be important, it will always be that little runts day on this shit date. And sadly, also your last day.” Yuji walked towards his bed, and he pushed Masaki on it.
“What are you talking about Yuji!? Have you gone insane?”
“Technically. Yes. Mentally, yes. Your reign has been too long. World peace as well. I will restart your father's empire and bring the world down with it. Starting with you.”
Yuji’s hand turned into a blade, and he stabbed Masaki’s head with it. His head is split in half... Masaki died instantly. He pulled the blade out of his head and the head healed instantly leaving no mark. Making it seem that he died of natural causes. Suddenly a shadow appeared in the light behind him. Yuji turned around and it was Gekidō...
“Father...? What are you doing in Masaki’s room so late?” He looked worried as Yuji had an insane look on his face...
“Quick Gekidō! Call the guards and doctors, he is not breathing! I think he has died!”
Gekidō and Yuji both ran out of the room to call the medics. A few minutes later his bed was surrounded by doctors. Yuji told the guards to tell every news outlet that Masaki has died and tomorrow will be the emperor's funeral. And that he will be crowned Emperor after the funeral.
Gekidō was holding Masaki’s hand and then he started hearing voices in his head...
“Gekidō... Take my heart... And keep it safe inside of you.”
Gekidō listened to the voices and when everyone looked away, he used his speed to pull his heart out, then snapped to make it seem like the emperor's heart had exploded. Everyone looked back and started screaming. Yuji looked at the corpse weirdly and then walked away from the room.
“Now breathe in slowly and slide the heart inside yourself...”
Gekidō inserted the heart into his own body and started coughing non-stop. One of the doctors took him to his room and that’s how Gekidō’s happiest day ended.
- The day after the funeral... -
“It was sad seeing my grandfather being lifeless on his bed, my heart just shattered since he meant so much to me. But I promise that I will continue his reign for as long as I can, and I will bring glory back to this empire! AS THE NEW EMPEROR OF JAPAN!”
The crowd cheered and chanted his name. His dream came true after so many years of waiting. Gekidō and Shin were watching everything unfold. He felt proud of his father, but also at the same time, felt like something was wrong.
