Chapter 9:

Girl Meet Girl...s

The White Fragment

Me and Lydia walked to our destination where we started our training, the church. The location of it near the hill of the town, secluded but under the same town, Silld.

Our travel to the church was fun, with me looking at the priestess in awe for how cool and knowledgeable she is. That was what I imagine, the reality is...

"Uwaaaahhh~ Vi-chan's so scary~"

"It's your fault for not paying the food, even though you said you paid it."

She whined because she didn't pay the food. Just because you're a priestess or some high ranked person, you can't get anything free. Of course Mom was mad at her, but she tried her best to kept her professional smile. Yes, tried. I've seen her smile twitched many times.

Of course Lydia made some excuses, like attending the sweets buffet, but Mom didn't take it. I even heard Mom muttered at her, saying that Lydia didn't change at all after years passed.

I asked Mom about Lydia, and she bluntly said that she's a glutton and have a poor money management. But other than that, she's good at judging someone's personality.

Right now, I tried to endure her whining as best as I could.

"You should be grateful, Lydia. Because Mom will clear your debt, if you become her free worker for a week."

"But working is a pain~"

My right eye twitched when I heard her remark. Is she wanted to become a NEET? If yes, then she needs to apologize to every working adults.

She needs to appreciate her life more since she's a working adult and a part of a cog called society. Even I need to lied about my age to work to earn money in my previous world because of those parasites.

No need to think about them, and focus on the present. The I felt the disappointing priestess pulled me.

"An-chan, An-chan, let's buy mice skewers!"

The name might be seems edgy, but it really used mice meat. The mices are the common monsters in Excelia, even in the game too.

I already tried it before, and it's edible and not poisonous like in my previous world. As much as I want to buy it again, with the allowance Mom gave to me, I need to restrain myself.

I pulled Lydia from the stall because I don't want any trouble with her current finances.

"Focus, Lydia! We need to go to the church before night."

"But I want to eat those skewers~"

"You already ate a lot before, and now you're hungry?!"

"Yes!"

Such firm and determined answer! You should use that kind of answers for something important, you disappointing priestess!

Well, time to give her some reality check.

"Can you pay it?"

"I... I'll find the alternative."

What do you mean by 'alternative'?! And don't avert your gaze!

"It's still no! Understand?"

"Yes. Mother and daughter are the same."

I heard her muttered that last part, but I'll pretend I didn't hear it.

We continued our walk to the church, but of course we got distracted many times thanks to Lydia because we passed many food stalls. And I pulled her whenever she got distracted.

Dealing with her antics really stressed me out. Hopefully I can endure it until we reached our destination.

xxxxx

We finally reached the hill where the church located. It was really tiring. Not physically, but mentally for me. As for the priestess who accompanied me, doesn't show any exhaustion.

"Here it is, An-chan, the only church of Five Origin Church in Silld."

If I wanted to explain about the church, it was normal. Not extravagant, but well maintained. I even saw some people walked in or out to the church.

"Feel free to ask me anything before we entered the church."

Since I'm in here and she's open to be asked, time to find some informations from her.

"Lydia, can you tell me about Five Origin Church?"

"Call me madam priestess first, An-chan."

"No."

She grumbled since I refused to call her that, but still answered my question.

But before she answered, she asked me about basic elements of magic, which I already knew about it. Since I already knew about it, she explained that the church served the Five Origin Gods or Goddesses which represent one of the basic elements each. They were Wind Goddess Viento, Water Goddess Sui, Earth God Terra, Fire God Kael, and Dark God Mahhes.

I was confused why the God or Goddess who represent light not considered as one since in most common fantasy light novel, those who represent dark always depicted as evil, so I decided to ask her about it, in which she answered it with venom in her voice.

"The Light Goddess Lumina defected and built her own church known as Lumina Sect Church, and doctrined her followers about human supremacy. And no information about how and why."

No matter what I think about it, this Lumina Sect Church gave me a lot of bad vibes. I hope they're not in this continent, and I was glad after hearing her other answers.

"If you wondering about them, they're only resides in Twilight continent."

All of the questions I have regarding Lumina Sect already answered. Now for the other sect.

"Then, can you tell me about White Sect Church?"

When I asked her that, she was contemplating whether she answered it or not, but she decided to answer it in whisper, but loud enough for me to hear it.

"Before the White Sect Church was made, they're just a community, mostly filled with females, who hated the Otherworldly Sages for doing whatever they likes and reshaping Excelia to some sort of copy of their world called Earth, but only in language and calendar."

I was right about the White Sect Church reeks of sexism because it's female only. And I know about that from the book I read when I visited the library, but it's not the answer I want.

"What I mean is, how a community become a church sect?"

"Oh, that. Ever heard about 'deal with the devil'?"

She might be talking about contract with great benefits, but also with great price. If so, then I know the concept about it. So I nodded at her remark.

"You see, An-chan, when the Otherworldly Sages instilled fear for a long time, one of the otherworlders they summoned listened to their plea and decided to protect Excelia from her own kins. Nobody know her name, but she's known as-"

"'The White Devil', right?"

"So you already read that book, right? Smart girl."

She patted me when I guess the name of their saviour. Then she pouted at me.

"But don't cut my explanation again, understand?"

"Sorry, bad habit."

She tilted her head when I said that, but she shook it and continued with her explanation.

"To honor the 'White Devil' effort, they decided to build their own church sect with two purposes. First; for charity work and supporting Five Origin Church as a revelation of their Lord, and second; exterminate the otherworlder. As for how they exterminate them, they trained the group of priestesses to become the executioners. And an executioner of White Sect is as strong as a paladin of Lumina Sect."

So that's where the executioners came from. Just thinking about that made me sweat a lot. If Annette in her sixteenth life is as strong as a paladin, then how she can be killed easily? Also, what kind of Lord those White Sect Church serve?

Even though I have all memories of her sixteen lives, but somehow, I don't have full access of any of it. Only few fragments each. Even if it's just fragments, hopefully I can replicate all of her useful skills, especially her skills as a priestess and an executioner.

Since Lydia used to be a priestess of the White Sect Church, she might be know more about it, which caused her exilement.

"Lydia, what caused you to be exiled from there?"

"Soon, I'll tell you why. But now, you're not ready yet."

I think it's understandable why she don't want to say it, so I won't pry it.

When I don't have anything to be asked, she opened the door of the church and we entered it.

Inside of the church it was like a normal church, except there're five crystals at the altar. Each of it being held by a statue which I assume those were the figure of the Origin Gods and Goddesses.

I don't know why, but when I see the statue of the Goddess who held the green crystal, there's some nostalgic feeling inside my heart, like I knew her from a long time and wanted to protect her from the cruelty of this world.

Wait, what am I thinking?! I'm not a zealot! And I don't know who she is! Need to calm down.

When I finally calmed down, I saw two girls bickering at each other, actually only the other girl, and a priest tried to calm het. Since the priest seems overwhelmed, Lydia decided to help him to defuse them.

The first girl who wore a simple brown dress has the same description as that Aria girl I heard from Lydia. And her straight long hair is much longer than me.

As for the other girl with expensive looking purple dress, I only described her as a noble girl. Blonde hair in drill twin-tails with blue eyes.

After reading a lot of fantasy light novel in my previous life, I'm sure she can't accept that Aria was the chosen girl or Aria was stronger or has more value than her. No matter what it is, I'm curious about her stats. So I decided to took the appraisal crystal and appraise her when no one looking.

"Identify Aria."

The result showed on it, and I couldn't help but widened my eyes in shock.

Blessings:
[*****]

Wait, isn't she too broken? So many skills and an unknown blessing which cannot be appraised! Her stats also average 50! Not only that, three unique skills! One of it might be from taming that Imagin she named Ken.

I'm so jealous at her, but I need to control myself.

From that kind of stats, she might be an otherworlder. But that unknown blessing, was it the one mentioned by Rouxan-san?

Her level also limited too, so the chance that she's not an otherworlder was very small.

Then Aria stared at me after I put the appraisal crystal back to my bag, followed by that noble girl, Lydia, and finally the priest.

It was really awkward when they stared at me. And that disappointing priestess seems forgotten about my presence, in which she muttered sorry at me. That awkward moment stopped because of the noble girl rude remark at me.

"Who are you, common girl?"
