Chapter 2:

(Poem) Our Beloved Stars

Stray Stories and Purposeless Poetry

A lonely star upon the sky
visible to the naked eye.
If this faraway light was symbolized,
it would be the embodiment
of my dreams.

This stellar form is ways afar,
distanced from my small grasps.
It is farther than any other glow nearby.
So large, so colossal, so much greater
than our own sun.
The size would simply shadow me
if this star could ever shadow.

What a dream it would be
to achieve my wish—
to hold a star so immense, so intense
than I could ever hope.
And yet this cosmic entity,
this astronomical, hot sphere of gas
will only be
a lonely dream of mine.
