“What is father doing?” he asked curiously as he couldn’t place his hands on why his father was doing unnecessary exercises instead of practicing his magic.

“That is Martial Arts.”

“Martial Arts? Isn’t that the grappling skill? Why doesn’t he just practice magic?” he was confused as magic was the greatest power in the world.

“Magic? Do you mean the art of chanting?”

“Art of chanting?”

Chapter 2

“Martial arts come in different ways and forms, and from birth, everyone’s path is decided. Martial chanting is one of the powers that is bestowed upon you by your ancestors, which comes along with a weapon to stay by your side. Martial chanting is a unique skill that you are born with, and it’s rare to find 2 people with the same skill because the number of people who have the chant blessing is low.” she explained as she waved to her husband to approach them.

“So can a father do martial chanting?”

“No, as your mother said chanting isn’t something that anybody can get. It is an incredibly rare trait that only a select few can get, and so don’t be sad if you don’t get it in your coming of age ceremony.” his father went on as he was approaching them.

“Hey Sanguis, long time no see buddy. The last time I saw you, was when you were just a little angelic boy in your mother’s hand,” he said as he picked up his son, excitement bragging on his face.

*So this was the ugly buff dude then? I guess my face was just tricking me since I was a newborn.*

“Wait… Where were you for five years father?” he asked with confusion on his face.

“Ahh, son,” he looked at his wife’s face before giving his son a reply. Finally, he went on “Father has been at work fighting bad people, and also went to check on your grandpa.”

“Grandpa? I have a grandpa. Where is he?”

“Well, he is very busy right now, but he will be here soon don’t worry.” his expression changed to a gloomy one after his son asked him that question.

“I believe it is time to eat! I will prepare breakfast, you boys get to know each other.” mother said as she walked off into the house.

“So, when will I get my weapon and skill?” Sanguis asked to hope for an answer that fits him.

“You will start cultivating at the age of 10, then you will visit the ancestry altar at the age of 12. Then, you will get your weapon, and if you are destined for a skill, but remember you can still accomplish great things without a skill.” The father tries as hard as possible to take his son’s mind away from getting a skill at such a young age.

“So I wait till I am 10 to cultivate?”

“Yes, you will have your points unlocked by then.”

A/N: I won’t use meridians because it’s annoying to use.

“Son, there are 9 levels a person can cultivate before they reach the peak of strength. Beginner, Learner, Apprentice, Intermediate, Advanced, Master, Grand-Master, Half-Step, and Transcendent.”

A/N: Readers, if you have a good name for the stages let me know.

“Each level has 9 stages, and legend says that after reaching the 9th level to transcendent stage you will become Immortal after ascending up. Father is in the 4th stage of the Advanced realm, which means I am a bit strong,” he explained to his son carefully.

“Sanguis, when you grow up make sure you join a sect, they are a group of people who can help your culti-” he was cut off by the call of his wife asking them to make their way to dinner.

“Let’s go meet your mom, we don’t want her mad,“ he shared a little joke with his son as they were walking.

--------------5 years later-----------------

Sanguis now 10 years old woke up early to see his father, who was waiting at the entrance of his room.

“Good morning father, how was your night?”

“Fine, but I see you in a good mood! Are you that excited to begin your cultivating path?”

*Although mother almost cried and I had to lie it was for self-defense when we told her 2 years back.*

Making their way through the hall, and finally entering the new training room his father had stayed up to build. Why does he need a training room when he has a yard? Well, that was part of the catch his mom set because she didn’t want her child shirtless in front of the servants.

“Sit down there,” his father pointed at the center of the room.

“Now, get ready because this might hurt a bit,” he said as he places his hand on his son’s back.
