Cibil and Forest Fire

Cibil went back home thinking about the launch. While returning back home, she saw Kendra’s car going in the scenic road. “Maybe she is from Universe 12 after all,” Cibil told her girlfriend Kate. “Let’s be careful whoever she is,” Kate looked out the window while she was answering her. “Do you think I shouldn’t have asked her for a favor today? Is that why you are upset with me now?” Cibil asked. “Did she ask you anything unusual?” Kate asked. “Can we stop talking about work? I really could use a break now?” Cibil said. “Ya sure!” Kate answered sarcastically.

“What’s for dinner? Shall we grab some food while returning and watch the forest fires while doing so?” Cibil asked in an excited tone. “Well, that does sound like a plan,” Kate responded. They both went through a drive through and grabbed dinner. In Universe 12 watching forest fires is like a show for a public audience. It happens very often and it isn’t a threat as it happens in very closed space and they make sure the fire doesn’t spread. As trees don’t give oxygen in this universe, people usually enjoy this show.

Cibil grabbed food. Cibil and Kate were talking about the recent movie they watched, Cibil was telling her favorite part and got distracted by a call. It was from Luther. She ignored it and continued talking with Kate.

They both reached the Forest fire show after hours of travel. They had convertible seats inside the car and they took it out to sit outside and eat. They enjoyed the food and the show. “Your eyes are dazzling in front of the fire,” Cibil said. Kate kissed Cibil on her cheek and Cibil smiled. They both enjoyed the show. “Is there a restaurant nearby?” a man asked Kate. “Yes, there is a restaurant around the corner,” Cibil responded. “Thank you,” he said. “You asked if she asked something unusual right, she said something,” Cibil got cut by a call from Kendra. “Is this a good time to talk?” Kendra asked. “I just finished my dinner. Tell me Kendra,” Cibil responded. “I should take this,” Cibil told Kate and stepped near the car to talk in private.

“I need a favor,” Kendra said. “Can you not mention that I helped you out today in your lab today to Luther?” Kendra asked. “Would that be okay with you?” she continued. “Is there any particular reason?” Cibil asked. “No, he thinks you fixed it and I would like it to be that way,” Kendra said. “As you were unreachable, he asked me to accompany to the lab to work on certain things and he was proud of you for fixing the machine and I kept it that way,” she said. “Why did you guys go to the lab this late? Is everything okay?” Cibil asked. “Yes, we just did the final checking and he wanted another pair of eyes,” Kendra said.

“Okay, thank you for updating me,” Cibil said doubtfully and called Luther. It was too late already so Luther did not pick his call. “Is everything okay?” Kate asked. “You have nothing to worry about,” Cibil answered. Kate and Cibil started heading back home. Cibil heard something in the back seat when they both reached home. Kate saw a small three legged creature that looked like a dragon with wings. “Hello, how did you get here?” Kate asked. “It looked at them innocently. “Can we keep him?” Kate asked Cibil. She nodded her head. They both were too tired to discuss anything now. So they hit the bed.

The next morning Cibil started early to understand what was going on in the workplace as everything sounded like a mystery. “Kate honey, I am heading to work,” Cibil said. “Would you like a ride?” she asked. “No, I am working from home today. You carry on,” Kate said. “Sounds good. See you in the evening,” Cibil kissed Kate’s forehead and headed to work.

While driving to work, Cibil got a call from Luther. “I tried contacting you yesterday evening,” Luther said. “Ya I checked my phone hours later after you called. Is everything okay?” Cibil asked. “ Yes, everything is under control. Waiting for the launch today,” Luther said. “Kendra called and said you both worked last night to do some testing,” Cibil said, “Wow! Have you both met? I didn’t know that,” Luther said. “Yes, we did. Also, good job on fixing the system on your own. I have a surprise for you today,” Luther said in a very happy voice. “ You know I do not like surprises,” Cibil said. “Well, this one I am sure it has to wait at least till you reach here. See you soon,” Luther said. “See you in a bit,” Cibil was so skeptical about the whole situation.
