Chapter 78:

Unexpected visitor

So What If I'm a Girl

Lan Du coughed and pointed at the cube that was still floating in front of Fei Fei, she then took out her phone and stared at the time.

"Miss Fei Fei, you have about 10 minutes left, if you don't complete it in the next 10 minutes, I'll cancel the reward" Lan Du said with a light smile

Fei Fei grumbled, seeing that Lan Du didn't want to answer, she decided to do the assigned work. She was barely able to complete the last few questions in eight minute, so Lan Du swiped the cube really quick and a brand-new cube appeared.

"Congratulations, your reward is another cube, solve this and there won't be a third cube, but if you don't complete it, I'll double the incoming question cubes" Lan Du said cheerfully

Seeing this new cube appear, Fei Fei felt as if the world has ended, but remembering that if she completes this, there won't be any more, Fei Fei began rushing this cube.

As if a switch was flipped inside her, her work speed increased dramatically and she finished the entire cube in less than ten minutes. Lan Du gave a satisfying nod before she grabbed the tablet and typed up some workds.

"X-Xiao Mo, are we done yet?" Fei Fei asked with uncertainty

Lan Du smiled

"Of course..." She said

When Fei Fei was about to relax...

"Not"

Her words crashed down upon Fei Fei, she stared at Lan Du and wanted to cry.

"B-But you porpoised that there won't be any cubes after this" She said with wet eyes

Lan Du smiled

"Of course, there won't be any more cubes from now on" Lan Du then slid the tablet back to her, this time, a pyramid popped up in front of her.

"This isn't a cube after all, now, start working" Lan Du said in a gentle tone, he words were so warm that Fei Fei wondered if she misheard. But the cruelty of reality washed over her like cold water.

"T-Teacher!" She cried out as she grabbed Lan Du's left hand

Lan Du gave her a devilish smile

"Even if you call me teacher, my students only consist of people who persist, if you don't complete this pyramid in 15 minutes, I'll double the work we have done so far tomorrow"

Fei Fei was about to burst into tears, but seeing the devil like smile on Lan Du's face, she knew that if she cried, it might actually get even worse.

'Why, she was so gentle and prince like yesterday, yet when teaching, why is he a demon?'

She focused her eyes onto the pyramid and questions popped up one after another. Fei Fei did all of them obediently and didn't complain any further. After she finished the pyramid, the pyramid began to scramble and formed words.

[Congratulations, your reward is a ten-minute break]

Fei Fei felt as if she was going to break down, she slumped onto her bed and laid there.

"Xiao Mo, you're evil" She said

Lan Du patted her head gently

"Oh? Since I'm so evil, maybe I should halve your break time" Lan Du said mischievously

Fei Fei immediately jumped back

"I'm sorry, teacher is the kindest person in the world, no one can match up to your extent of

kindness and gentleness" She said hurriedly

Lan Du chuckled

"Wake me up when the ten minutes are up" Lan Du said as she placed a cloth over her eyes and seemed to have fallen asleep.

Fei Fei dug her face into the pillow on her bed, she then glanced at Lan Du's sleeping figure. When ten minutes was up, she hesitated to wake her up.

'If I don't wake her up...would I be able to rest for a bit longer?' She thought to herself

She took in a deep breath and got off her bed, she walked over to Lan Du and gently shook her. Lan Du moved and raised one hand to take the cloth off her eyes.

"Lass, if you decided not to wake me up, I'd have doubled your work again, I could tell you were hesitant to waking me up, your hands were trembling" Lan Du said casually as she gave Fei Fei a knowing smile.

Fei Fei tensed up, she laughed awkwardly as felt relieved that she woke Lan Du up. She sat down back on her seat and began solving the next pyramid.

It was only an hour did Lan Du finally stop and ended class for the day. She looked half dead and as if her soul has left her body when Lan Du stood up.

"Don't worry, the work so far are all pretty easy, once my right hand is completely healed, I'll increase the difficulty, so enjoy your current salvation" Lan Du laughed and walked out the room.

She didn't see anyone else apart from some maids and butler inside the building, CEO Lin had left a while ago so she took out her mask and wore it once again.

'I should text Hui Yue later in case she gets worried that I was gone for so long' Lan Du thought to herself

She took out her phone and saw a pile of messages stacking up, all from Hui Yue. Lan DU smiled and sent a reply back.

[Sis, do you need to be so worried about me? I'm fine on my own, I'll be busy for the next few days though]

Hui Yue saw this message and let out a sigh of relief, she then went back to doing her own business. Lan Du then was prepared to leave the mansion. She decided it was better not to stay any longer.

Fei Fei walked out her room, she saw Lan Du leaving.

"Why are you leaving? Didn't you say you'd be staying" She asked

Lan Du didn't look back

"Your father would probably skin me alive, he doesn't like having e here anyway" Lan Du replied and left the building, she also removed the skin mask before she wore the mask.

She headed to the mercenary guild and the moment she arrived, the whole place became silent. Lan Du looked around and saw a strange scene. There were mercenaries on the ground, some of whom she knew as they were on the same mission at one point. They had bruises all over their bodies and their mouths were bloodied.

Lan Du walked past them as if they didn't exist, she walked up to the reception and held up her bracelet. She saw a notification sent by Ba Tan, apparently she was approved by the higher ups to get a potential dragon rank badge but she would need to complete a test.

"I'm here to claim the spirit dew from the CEO's mission" Lan Du said calmly as she turned to the receptionist.

The receptionist was dazed for a moment before taking out a box and passed it to her. Inside was the spirit dew and Lan Du was prepared to walk out when someone walked forward and stopped her.

He had a cold smile on his face whilst her stared at her.

"Lad, I see that you have quite the reward in your hand, how about you hand it over and no one gets hurt" He said with a crooked smile.

Lan Du glanced at him indifferently, she continued walking and strode right past the man.

The man felt humiliated when Lan Du ignored him completely, he grabbed Lan Du's right arm and growled coldly at her.

"Are you looking for a death wish? Hand over the spirit dew and I can make sure you don't lose a limb" He said with crazed eyes.

Lan Du stopped

"Let go" She said coldly

The man sneered at her, his response made Lan Du's eyes especially cold, she turned to him and glared.

"What are you glaring at? I'm a dragon ranked fighter, how dare a mere viper rank like you glare at me" He growled

Lan Du scoffed, she couldn't move her right arm however so the man thought she was extremely weak. Lan Du grabbed his wrist with her left hand and her grip tightened.

"Dragon rank? So what? I've killed one not too long ago, how about you be number two?" Lan

Du said coldly as tightened her grip even more.

The man started to feel pain rise in his wrist area. He was surprised by her strength but smirked.

"So what if you have some strength, you're but a novice when it comes to the law of the jungle" He said mockingly, Lan Du sighed and released her grip.

"I wonder why people keeps trying to pick a fight with me" Lan Du muttered to herself "Is it something I'm putting up?"

The man smirked when he saw Lan Du let go, but then, his whole body felt stiff as he dropped to the ground.

"Ah, the poison kicked in already? But how are you so weak? Even Guan Ye would at least last a good minute or two" Lan Du rubbed her chin and muttered, she then raised one foot and stomped on the man's face.

"So, do you like the view from down there? I think this spot fits you quite well, tell me, which bone do you want intact? I'll break it for you" Lan Du said sweetly, but the nearby mercenaries knew she was dead serious.

"H-How dare you play such underhanded tactics" He spat

Lan Du chuckled and kicked him in the ribs.

"Do you think honour is something I care about? Underhanded or not, honour is useless if you die, so, tell me, which bone is your sturdiest, I'll give it a crack and see if it breaks, if it doesn't, congrats, you won't have a broken bone, if it does, then I'll break a few more" Lan Du spoke as if everything was a game to her, as if the man below her feet was merely for amusement.

The man trembled, wanting to get up but Lan Du stomped on his chest.

"Being a dragon rank makes you proud right? What would happen if I crippled you and see how it goes for you" Lan Du smirked, and her feet were placed on the man's wrist.

"N-No, please, don't" He said with a fearful expression

The receptionist then spoke up

"Crippling other mercenaries are not permitted within the guild, I advise you to rethink your choice" He said hurriedly

Lan Du glanced at the man's fearful expression

"I'm in a good mood so I'll leave it at that" Lan Du chuckled and kicked him aside before leaving again.

When she walked out, a heated discussion occurred, the mercenaries who were previously on the ground had their eyes wide open, they were awake to see Lan Du pummel the man. That man was also the one who beat them, but when they saw Lan Du beat him so effortlessly, they were shocked.

"We expect no less from the devil"

"Not even dragon ranks can beat him, terrifying"

"Why do I feel glad I was beaten up before he walked in" One of them muttered, the others couldn't help but agree to his statement.

Not knowing the commotion she caused, Lan Du headed back to the shop, however, when she walked in, she saw Hui Yue standing at the doorway, as if she knew she would return.

"I'm back" Lan Du said lightly

Hui Yue nodded but stared at her arm

"Your right shoulder, explain" She said sternly

Lan Du smiled bitterly

"If I said I tripped and fell on my dagger, would you believe me?" She asked

Hui Yue shook her head

Lan Du sighed

"I took on another mission, some factors were out of my expectation so I was injured" Lan Du

replied

Hui Yue yanked her ears

"I warned you to not accept dangerous missions, look at yourself, in one day, you already injured your shoulder" She growled and twisted Lan Du's ears.

Lan Du cried out

"It wasn't my fault, I'm just a tutor anyways" Lan Du cried out

Hui Yue paused

"A tutor? For what? Don't tell me you're raising assassins now" She rolled her eyes and said

Lan Du scoffed

"Of course not, in fact, that's actually a very good idea...but no, I teach subjects such as math and such, the lass I'm teaching is quite hopeless in these so I took on the mission, the rewards are honestly too tempting" Lan Du smiled and took out the spirit dew.

Hui Yue stared at the spirit dew

"W-What, you get a spirit dew as a reward for being a tutor? Which mission is it, I want to take one myself" Hui Yue said wit an estatic expresion.

Lan Du giggled, seeing her sister's money grubbing expression, she flicked her forehead.

"Just stay home and let me pamper you, Spirit Dew will soon lose it's effects on me, I'll give you the next one I get" Lan Du smiled and placed the spirit dew away.

Hui Yue gave her a strange look

"You pamper me? Who's the elder sister in this household now?" She questioned

Lan Du flicked her forehead again

"Who's the one providing the expenses" Lan Du replied with a sly smile on her face

Hui Yue blushed

"It's not that I don't want to work, you just don't let me" She muttered under her breath

Lan Du nodded her head

"And with that, our conversation about senority is over" Lan Du tapped Hui Yue's shoulders

with a light smile, she could see Hui Yue's red face as she spoke and it made her happy that Hui Yue took her words into consideration.

Lan Du then took out some more snacks and a tablet from her bag.

"This tablet is connected to all the security cameras in this vicinity, I hope you can make use of it, if anything happens, call me and hide" Lan Du said with a serious expression, she passed the tablet over along with the snacks.

However, Hui Yue seemed much more intrigued with the snacks than she was with the tablet.

Lan Du shook her head helpessly

"Lass, you don't change" Lan Du then went to the bathroom to take a shower. After a few minutes, she wrapped bandages over her neck and chest once again, she looked in the mirror to make sure nothing was sticking out as she dressed herself.

Her hair was sill dripping wet fro the shower so she walked out with a towel in her hand. However, when she stepped out, her pupils shrunk. She quicky closed the door again and her breathing sped up.

'Why the hell is Yuan Min here!' She searched the bathroom but couldn't find her mask. She then saw the skin mask she was wearing earlier.'I'll have to make d with this, but this will only make it easier for him to know who I am...dammit, of all times for me to not bring my mask in with me' She wore the skin mask and

her face changed completely.

She then took out contacts and wore it over her eyes, her jade green eyes became blue and she wore a black wig, it wasn't long but it was enough to hide her white hair. She quickly dripped water over it as well so it seems like she just walked out teh showers.

She usually hides her disguise equipments in the bathroom as it makes it convenient to use, but her mask was something she normally has on her so it wasn't in the bathroom. She stepped out and walked into the lounge.

She saw colonel Yuan and the Wang brothers, Wang Liu and Wang Shu. Lan Du let out a gasp and covered her face.

"C-Colonel, w-why are you here?" Lan Du asked shyly, she covered her face with her hands but parts of it was still showing.

Yuan Min stared at her, he found her to be more and more familair, yet he couldn't think who. Wang Liu and Wang Shu lifted tehir brows, they were also staring at Lan Du's face.

"Colonel, why don't I remember his hair being black?" Wang Shu scratched his head and asked

Lan Du replied with a timid voice

"I-I usually wear a white wig, I don't want people to link me to the blood thirsty mercenary when I'm at school" Lan Du replied, her hands were still over her face, she was about to run off when Yuan Min spoke up.

"There's no need to hide your face anymore, we saw it the moment you stepped in" He said calmly

Lan Du shook and slowly removed her hands

"I-I want to continue working as a mercenary, my sister can't work as she is now and I also need to pay for the school fees and living expenses, please don't report it to the guild" Lan Du said with a fearful gaze.

Wang Liu and Wang Shu stared at her with a sympathetic gaze, Lan Du saw pity in their eyes and fo some reason, it ticked her off.

"Don't look at me with those gazes...I might get angry" Lan Du said in a timid voiceWang Liu and Wang Shu glanced at one another, Wang Liu was calm enough to retract it but Wang Shu started laughing.

"Is this really the same person that stuck a dagger at my throat?" He laughed

Lan Du now felt more ticked off than when he was giving her a sympathetic gaze.

She forced out a smile and tried to hide it, but no matter how anyone looked at it, it was extremely forced.

"I wonder why colonely Yuan is here today" Lan Du asked, trying to shift to another subject.

"I still want to recruit you, though you're still young, I wish to nurture you into one of the greatest worriors who might be able to surpass me" He replied

Lan Du stroked her chin

"Colonel Yuan...I'm still young and I wish to continue supporting my sister, only when I earn enouh to support her will I feel at ease" Lan Du said calmly.

Yuan Min started giggling, Wang Shu and Wang Liu were baffled, they rarely see him smile, much less snicker so they were taken by surprise.

"If I remember correctly, you've extorted one of the major families in this city of fity million dollars, adding on a five million from the guild, and that was only from the first day you joined, yet you're saying you lack money?" He couldn't help but state.

Lan Du froze, she didn't expect him to dig out so much information about her.

"Ah hahaha...um...oh, look at the time, how about we talk about this never again, as for the recuitment... give me a few years...I'll think it through" said Lan Du.

Seeing this, Yuan Min complied, as long as it wasn't a complete rejection, he was fine. Lan Du invited them out later and turned to Hui Yue.

"Why didn't you warn me they were here" Lan Du asked

"Well...the cameras never picked them up, and I didn't even notice but they just appeared in the lounge, I couldn't kick them out, could I? Even if I did, either one of the liutenants would be

able to beat me easily"

Lan Du sighed, she turned her head out the window and looked up at the moon.

"I'll get stronger...mother, I will mke that man regret it all" Lan Du muttered
