Chapter 32 - midterms break and a holiday visit in Long Pasia

After I was discharge from the hospital, its was another miracle that it took a day to be release. Sylvia didn’t took a second looking after me, even though she is tired from the commotion from yesterday. Mom waited for us, and we head back home. Sylvia is sleeping from the car. Mom said to me

“This week we will be going to Long Pasia, Slyvia’s dad wanted them back together”

“Fine by me” but I get a feeling that I have been missing someone. Do I need to invite her, to join us?

“Mom…”

“Yeah?”

“Is it ok, that I’m bringing a friend to Long Pasia?”

“Yeah, I wonder who will that be?”

“Its Priscilla…”

“I’m ok but does she wanted it?”

“Maybe…”

“Then I wait for you then”

We reach at home where Mr George and Steward is waiting for her. Sylvia is a bit disappointed but she is willing to accept it.

“Darling…see you soon, I will wait for the date…”

“Yeah…”

“We got something that we need to settle in our home in Tenom, so we will be there for a week.”

They wave goodbye and I head to the resort, I did not see Priscilla since last night, I wonder what happen. I reach at the lobby seems, Mr Newman is with her.

“Hey son..”

Priscilla approach me

“Babe I never knew that you have that kind of a family situation.”

Priscilla holding my shirt but seems that I wanted to bring her to Long Pasia seems spot on.

“I’m going back to my hometown in Long Pasia…”

Priscilla wore her usual clothing, and ride my bike. I head to my home, where Mom is already packing some of her stuff,

“We going to fly this time son, because there is something urgent that I need to settle and I want you to help me and Tomal in an expedition for this..or isn’t this Priscilla?”

“yes Puan Mas…thank you for the offer”

“Well, Alex is the one that wanted you to follow us…but are you sure that this is not a 5 star luxury”

“Yes…as long I’m with you is the only thing for the world…”

Mom look at her and baggage,

This is the second time that I went to visit Long Pasia. But this time there isn’t an emotional feeling like that. We head to the airport waiting for the airplane that will sent us to Long Pasia, Mom arrange a private pilot to sent us to Long Pasia.

Why I have a feeling that mom is doing something crazy right now. The last time she did this we literary jumps from the airspace, and parachute to the research centre because no one could sent us.

My instinct came true, a parachute.

“Mom?”

“Yeah?”

“We’re doing this right?”

“Yep because its urgent, and we going to be there at least 1 week..”

“When I was young mom did brought me once. And she just did that jump from the airplane…”

“Yup, if Mariam and Amin knew this they will be pissed”

“Yeah she called me just now when you pick up Priscilla and Sylvia told me that you will call her at the same time”

Is she a psychic, she really read my mind dammit!! Moms phone rings and she answered it

“Yeah, yeah…he is here you want to talk to him, here Alex…”

“darling…just visiting place…only that….” I could feel her yandere aura just by this phone.

“kukuku…i was planning to hang around with you but, when your mom told me that you going to Long Pasia, and you suddenly brought Priscilla to join as well, I got to see this!!”

Don’t tell that she is the one that makes this mess.

“Uh..you that we are going to take an airplane”

Priscilla said to me something that Is unexpected

“Have you done this before?”

Hana never done this before but she seems confident about this.

I head to mom and asked her

“so…this is a crazy thing mom doing now…”

“Really you loved this kind of things when you were little…”

“Jumping from the river!!!! Is different!!!”

Mom explain to me that there is a commotion between the loggers and poachers within the forest reserve. Mom wanted to investigate the destruction of illegal loggings. We board the airplane that fit just enough for all of us. The funny thing is that mom is flying the plane with another pilot

“Your mom could fly an airplane as well?”

“Never seen that before”

“Hey mom, what else that I don’t about…”

“Huh…I had a life before you were born lets keep it at that…”

“Your mom is really something eh?” Mariam

“Yeah, she is an awesome mom” Amin

“She is cool!!” Priscilla

In a small size propeller airplane, consist of Mom the pilot, and co pilot including another back up pilot.

“ATC, Aircraft register no Alpha, niner, niner, Sigma, Vector will begin taxing, please respond control”

Mom is talking in a technical aviation words

“Hey I wonder why your dad doesn’t see this…” Mariam

“Just leave it at that eh Mar…”

“ATC, Heading to Runway 2, preparing for takeoff, please respond tower.”

“Alpha, niner, niner, sigma, vector begin for takeoff”

The roar of the engine is deafening our ears while it took off, we feel the g-force from the plane. Its a different feeling compared to jet aircraft. We could see close to the mountains.

“ATC, altitude at 6500, speed at 180 knots. Heading to Long Pasia”

This is a cargo plane, I look around its a type of a transport plane. I wonder where mom could get a hold of this. Mom head out and said to all of us.

“In an hour from now, we will approach Long Pasia and……” she is smiling, I’m pretty sure she is loving this moment

“Parachute from 5000 feet and landed at the research centre” everyone is speechless right now.

“uh…we don’t even know how to use a parachute…” Mariam and Amin

“Aren’t this dangerous thing to do…”

“Alex you have done this before right when you were young”

Everyone is surprised to have an experience in this, because when I was young before I went to the states. Mom always brought me to somewhere in the deep jungles of Sabah, where mom literary throw force me to jump alone. And I had to survive that terrifying diving, I don’t remember much but mom always told me that I occasionally doing crazy jumps after that first experience.

“Sam and Tama is with me, Alex with Hana, Priscilla with Mariam, Amin you running solo”

“Huh!!!?? But!!”

“If anything happen, all the best and don’t panic!!”

“Honey don’t die in this, I promise we will meet again” Mariam is being a jackass

Mom instruct us on the usage of the parachute, a bunch of kids doing what most people really put in their bucket list in life and now we are a part of it.

“Puan Mas all the best!! We see you soon!!”

“Thanks Captain!!”

“See you in Long Pasia research centre!!” Mom jumps first bringing Sam and Tama. Mariam and Priscilla look at each other.

“How you ever tried anything crazier than this?” Mariam

“uh….how about we wait for the others!?” Priscilla

“Uh…we going to be left behind like this”

“Hurry up! Scaredy cats!!” Hana is really excited

“Yo!! Who started first!!” Looks like Amin is going first I pull his arm and push him out

“Hey ASSSSHOOOOOOLEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!” He went off next will be the two.

“Hey Alex don’t do anything crazy…will ya” Mariam

“Bye!!” I carried her and throw her

“MOTHERR!!!!!!!!!!” Priscilla is terrified

“See ya…” I push out of the plane.

“You’re not that scared at all ya?” The captain

“Maybe but because mom did throw me out like that once, a life and death situation that mom let me experience”

“Yeah your mom is not an ordinary explorer and you all are not an ordinary children”

I jump off trying to find them in the skies. Mariam and Priscilla is crying right now

“IF I DIE ALEX!! I WILL HAUNT YOU FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!!!!!” Mariam

I just signalling them, I ask them to hold my hand while looking for Amin. Who is spinning like a ball. The only shouted that I made, Mom is there and she is signalling us to follow her. I head towards Amin, who could not control it. He spin dangerously and I had to follow his flow and hold his body and manage to stop it. We manage to gather together and mom ask me to do some moves. I tried to spin my body like a pinwheel. While Hana is having fun. I did not realise that mom had a camera with her and she took a picture of us.

We just took a skydive lesson from mom for this school break, this is the craziest things that mom wanted us to do, if I knew like this I’m not going to invite them. Now is having the another crazy day with them.

Mom signalling us to prepare to release our parachute. Mom asked me to pull. Mariam and Priscilla first and then Amin. They release the chute and then mom, while me and Hana is the last on that, we saw Long Pasia within our sight but mom said to us to change our bearings. And headed to the research centre. We slow down our descent and reach to a wide grass field and landed. Amin landed and he said to me

“Where is the toilet…”

“uh…..this is the jungle but I think there is one inside the facility”

“Yeah I may need to be there…”

“LANDDDDD!!!! OOOOHHHH LANDDD!!!!!!!!” Mariam is making a scene here. Priscilla did not said anything but I could see her face. I called her but she did not respond. I look at her, lucky that Mariam could manage the use the parachute.

Priscilla only look down, I know that expression, the expression of trauma. I ask Mariam to remove the harness.

“Hey Pris!! You okay?”

“Uh? Okay I’m okay..”

I look at her and Mariam brought her. There must be something going on. Miranda called us

“Hey!! Come on!!”

We went to the research facility and mom immediately leave us

“Kids, feel free to explore the place, except the Northern forest!!”

“Got it!!” Everyone

Miranda lead us to the dormitory, we divided between male and females.

“……that is something Alex…my first sky dive…”

“If you said to make a bucket list for sky diving, you have done it”

“But you look like an experience diver”

“Nope….I just follow instruction”

“No shit…your mom is something..”

“Yeah..something that I expected but being a pilot I never heard it before..”

We head out to find Hana, Mariam and Priscilla. We meet them but seems Priscilla seems down. I had to find ways to cheer her up though in this damn jungle. I discuss with Mariam.

“Hey what happen with Pris?”

“Did you something last night?” What the fuck!?

“Wha?”

“Did you did it?”

“No!! No!! She just sleep next to me!!! ah….” Fuck!! Why the hell I said that…

“Sleep eh, nothing more….horny dog…”

“No!! I didn’t!!!”

“Yeah, right but I follow along, she’s just blaming herself not saving you” just that huh…

“Maybe we could explore the southern forest”

“Yeah…will see…” Mariam

We head out and said to Miranda

“Big Sis..”

“Yeah?”

“Could you look after Sam and Hana for me, we’re going to explore”

“I believed Hana can handle it, just bring her or you other motives not to bring her.😏”

“Ok! Ok! Ok! Fine I bring her”

We begin to explore the southern forest to the place where Tama is from.

“Hey Tama? Do you still remember the way?”

“Yeah!! I still remember!!”

Tama showed us the way. Priscilla still not her usual self, and I had to settle it. Amin and Mariam wanted to know the place where Tama is. The unexplored track that Tama lead us, making it an adventure for us teenagers. Tama familiar with the forest making it easy for us to avoid being lost within the forest.

Within the forest we could see wild plants that is only seen in books, Priscilla suddenly stumble along the way, she not in the mood for this kind of adventure. Mariam tried to cheer her up

“Hey Pris, better look below…..” Mariam played a prank with her. But she did not respond, only to see she wanted to follow along.

“yeah…” Something is really wrong about this. I ask Mariam what happen last night.

“Did you did something that making her like this?”

“Kukuku…..maybe she just need some love?” She really is making things worst. I don’t want another girl trouble along the way, with Sylvia warning that making me feel wanted to avoid both of them. Mariam is right, now I begin to act like a playboy if it turns out like this. I pull her arm and she is surprised by this.

“Maybe Ms Gloomy here instead of ruining our mood” I drag her together deep within the forest where Tama increase her pace. Hana said to me

“BIG BROTHER STOP HOLDING HER HANDS!!!!GRR!!!” She kick my ass where I hold her and nudge her.

Priscilla then kick me to my back where I got slam to a tree.

“Stop bully your little sister!!”

“Oh, You’re back…”

“Maybe you could not pissed me off!!” She giggle

“Then shall we begin?”

“Fine!!”

Our journey to Tama’s village is about an hour walk from the research centre. Looks like the village had few scientist that accommodate as their new place, and the villagers seems to be much friendlier then before. One of them is Tama’s father and mother which suddenly they hugged me. Makes me wonder why.

“Dad said that son-in-law” eh? What the hell?

“Isn’t that already settle?” Priscilla is glaring at me

😒 everyone looking at me and Hana is also glaring at me.

“uh….I think its a misunderstanding”

Tama translate again from his father

“He is joking” so he knows to joke about this now eh💢 that’s really something

Tama explain to us that most of them have involved with the ethnic research. Tomal is involved with the exploration within the deep forest of Sabah. They currently discovered countless villages that was never recorded before. But the rising cases of illegal logging and poachers create a concern among the scientist. Finding the cause of the problem lies with its source. Which is the buyer, they were introduce when explorers like Tomal exploit the regions riches. Finding its importance especially medicine.

We however aren’t suppose to be involved with it, While Hana, Priscilla and Tama were brought by the village ladies in their daily chores to the long houses. Mariam is taking pictures, while Amin is learning the music instruments from this village. Me though the elder asked me to follow him. He wanted to hunt some animals for their lunch, walking in the forest trail, he knows where to find the animals and showed me which plants that we could eat, including fruits. But the main food is monkeys, and birds. He said wild boars is dangerous if were cornered, also he said that there is mythical snake, he called it ‘Selar putih’ it is said that It could reach at least 20 feet long.

Along the way, we manage to forage some fruits, and herbs for our lunch and head back home. The trail is long and lots of winding pathway that for an inexperience person will easily lost its path home. We manage to reach home, finding Priscilla and Mariam is practicing the traditional dance of the Penan, While Hana is helping the old ladies preparing food, One thing for sure is that everyone is preoccupied, since the elder tell me to relax somewhere.

There is only one thing in my mind is training especially in jungle which is perfect for me to practice CQC. I head out in the jungle, where there is no one, I took my army knife that Mr Marcus give me, and practice with the trees. I remember something about myself about know, is that when I wanted to remember Natalie my heart begin to race.

“Maybe lets try it…” I remember the picture that Damien give me, when she kissed another guy. The only thing that is my own fault. I started to see the surrounding and started to run between the trees, I realise that I could easily climb the trees.

Every a trunk I see, each of them of my own hatred, I punch, I kick and push it aside. Including cutting it using a knife. I started to combining my moves with punches and kicks, there is no uniform form or formal move that is typical for most of martial arts. My body that is usually for boxing is now changing to mixed of punches, kicks and grapple. One of the tree suddenly having vision of them kissing.

“FUCK!!!!!” I punch it really hard that leaving a mark from the trunk. Shit man, something really is building inside of me, and it’s really wanted to blow up. I jump around the tree trunk and started hitting the trees. I suddenly encounter a group of stranger with rifles and machete.

“Hey!! Who the hell are you!!!”

“This is just a kid…”

Wow, just like that I just found something to release my frustration, because I know they are poachers. I’m going to beat them with everything I’ve got.

“He is just a kid we going to get em and let his parents will give us ransom!!”

I instantly kick his face and he flew off from the trees. My moves become fluid with combining kicks and punches. Most of the were unconscious.

“Shit!! This is a crazy kid, just shoot em!!!!” Those rifles shot were loud, I’m pretty sure they will heard from every corners of the forest. One thing for sure, his face were broken from my own fist. He slammed to the tree and hang there. I’m not really scared of the poachers because of rage within me. Everyone of them were in my target, one by one of them been beaten by me. But I saw someone managed to run away, I took one of their rifle, aiming at them. But I plan not kill him, but aiming at his leg. It hit his leg and he went down. At least he’s isn’t dead. I throw away the rifle, and head towards the man there. But I heard the jungle rangers is nearby, I escape from the place. Luckily I wasn’t discovered, I realise that I wasn’t afraid like usual even against guns.

Reaching the village, someone were overlooking at the jungle luckily that they didn’t find out. Finally back at the long house. Mariam, Amin and Tama is around but Hana and Priscilla is no where to be found.

“I heard they went together with a lady that is going to pick up some water near the river.”

Seems they going there but why do I have a bad feeling about this because of the encounter with the poachers, I don’t believed it is only one group.

“Tama, do you know where they went?”

“They head to north…”

“Got it…”

“Hey!! You going to the north?”

I explain that I encounter a group of poachers during my personal training in the forest. Mariam also had a bad feeling of this and she said to me

“Hey Honey!!, lets us find them!!”

“OOOOOHHH!!!”

“Come on!!”

“Tama!! Call Miranda that we are looking for them!!”

“Got it!!”

We rush to the north, I entered the trail towards the river. We heard Hana is shouting

“HELP!!!!”

“Shut it KID!! You don’t want to die, right!!”

“Don’t touch her!!!” Priscilla

“She look like a fine specimen!!!”

Looks like our instinct is spot on.

They trying to kidnapped them, something is starting to blow up and its both of us, me and Mariam.

“Honey…..I’m going to let loose with this asshole!!”

“Back me up Amin!!”

We slowly sneak behind them, slowly we seen them trying to hurt Priscilla. One of the use a knife trying to cut her clothes. Hana tried to help her

“Get away from Big Sis!! You bad people!!” She kick the guys nuts

He knock her down.

“They’re feisty!!”

“Tie them down.”

Mariam instantly landed a spinning kick to the guys head. It's a prefect ambush from us, while me and Mariam takes down the poachers, Amin rescue them. Like a possess demon, Mariam took down most of the poachers and I took one with firearms. Amin manage to bring them out, Priscilla wanted to help them and Amin said to them

“Let us handle them, you called for help!!”

Amin joined us, this time they started to gather together, one of them that manage to escape from the rangers informing them.

“That is the kid that beat us down!!”

“Looks like they not going back home this time!!”

“Kids!! You better give up!! You can’t be us this lot!!” They holding rifles.

“This is getting dangerous!!” Amin

“We got an advantage…”

“And that is?” Mariam

“This place!!” I took one of the stone and throw at the man that aiming at us, we run towards the jungle. Looks like the whole group is gathered in one place.

“If we are going to do this, better watch me!!”

While they hid themselves within the bushes, I manage to knocked them within the forest, CQC that were taught from Darrel and Marcus is showing promise, the fruit of it is that I could easily beating them without having the dangers of myself going out of control. One of them shooting at me, but I manage to dodge with predicting the nozzle blast from the gun. Instantly I push him and throw him off. I manage to take his gun, I run back with Mariam and Amin.

“That is a gun!!” Amin

“Ummm…this not LA…” Mariam

“We’ll see…back me up!!”

We slowly ambushed them while I took down with the firearms, aiming at the arm or the legs.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Three of the is down hitting to the arms and legs.

“Shit!! SHit!! Bunch of kids is beating us down!!”

We head back again and hide within the bush

“Not bad…but is not like those brotha shooting but its like military”

“Uh….yeah…..I took some training hehehee…”

“That part I will not going to learn, I leave it to you!!”

“This is more like it, we are now the three musketeer!!”

We fist pump and started the tactics of beating them down. Slowly we manage to apprehend them.

“This is not funny anymore, they taking us down like flies!!”

“Start shooting!!”

Now they started to shoot at us.

“Any other plans?” Mariam

“Yeah…this is getting out of hand…” Amin

I manage to took a two pistol, I instruct them

“I’ll be the bait, while you took down by flanking them…”

“That is nuts!!” Amin

“We’ll at least you could see me bleed before I went to hospital again”

Mariam knock my head

“Yeah, you want Priscilla and Sylvia pissed again!!” 💢

One of them spotted us

“There they….!!!! are….ugh….” He got knock out, and its Priscilla

Priscilla join in and hid together with us

“Back up will arrive, Hana is with Tama…”

“Thanks, you better stay back”

“No thanks babe, you had all the fun!! This is like we beat down a bunch of goons on our last date… this soo like James Bond….” She is getting this a little bit off

“This is…” Mariam and Amin looked at me😏

“James Bond huh…..” Mariam

“Damn….” Amin

“Come on guys lets focus will ya!!”

“We doing flanking while I get them all the attention to me”

“You taking the hit then?” Priscilla

I showed her the gun

“Just do it…”

“Fine babe…” she kissed my cheeks

“For good luck” I begin to blushed

“Alright lover boy lets get this done…”

“Yeah!! We going to be the first kids that taking down a bunch of arm poachers!!”

I went out and as expected they aiming at me with their guns while I charge at them with a skill I never used before, but I train myself when I was young. Dual style, and Gun-fu a Hollywood aspired move that never been used in battle. A combination of CQC and gun shooting. While my buddies taking them down on the flanks.

I speed through, and start shooting at the legs.

“That kid is an expert!! Take him down!!”

“Just kill him!!”

I took them down but not with rage but focus on disabling them from standing up. Looks like the tactic work. Priscilla is taking those guys down with ease while Mariam and Amin combo is terrorising the flanks.

“What the hell is this kids?”

“We never seen like this before?!!”

I start to possess moves that is flying. Taking them down with only guns without killing them, that intense training from Mr Marcus works well with this battle.

“That kid is doing like in the matrix movie!!”

“Just take him down!!”

“No way I bugging out!!”

“Not a chance!!” Mariam, she took them down. Looks like they manage to took down around the flanks leaving in the middle. Which most of them possess firearms, I check my clips seems have some bullets left before it’s run out of ammo.

I run towards them, begin to hide within the bushes and kick them while using the gun at point blank at their legs and arm disabling them. We manage to beat them all, before the forest Rangers arrived.

“You all are under arrest!! This is the forest rangers!!”

“This is the police!!”

Mom and Tomal is there as well.

“Alex!?, kids!? What are you doing here?”

“Uh..mom😅” there is no way, I could pull away from this.

“Did you all did this?” Tomal

“Yeah….we did mostly Alex settle those with the firearms…he is like in the movies…”

“Yeah!! Babe is really like James Bond!!” Oh hell no, I’m not James Bond😓

“I’m impress here kid, none of them is dead here only wounded by bruises or bullet shot from the legs and arms.” Policeman

“Dammit!! First Alex doing the John woo style gun-fu against them, now dad is part of a jungle special forces…”

Priscilla looking at me, and hugging me while kissing me

“Yep, he is definitely James Bond…they way he shoot it, and he talk to people he is James Bond…😏” Mariam don’t you make things worst will ya 💢, what if Sylvia finds out this, I’m not going to survived this!!

“Yeah…if she knows about this…” Mariam is planning something. Oh shit please don’t I had enough of trouble from this only.

Mom hold my shoulder “never knew you had in you…” what are thinking mom? Please don’t makes it worst again
