Chapter 2:

Chapter 1: Welcome to Moonlight Academy [part 2]

Shadows Over Daylight

During the early hours, Miku awoke to the sound of birds chirping outside her window. They were calm in their tones and was a pleasant experience to wake up to. Taking a moment to sit up and stretch, she took notice of the time on the clock. Okay, it’s my first day and I won’t screw up or embarrass myself, Miku thought as she headed over to one of the cardboard box labelled clothes. Opening up the box revealed a neatly packed set of folded clothes. Pulling out a fresh clean white shirt and navy blue miniskirt, Miku finally looked over the different pairs of socks and stockings she had. Black shear thighs, nylon tan stockings, over-the-knee socks, knee-high socks and almost every style of sock could be found – giving Miku a hard time in her choice of stockings. Pulling out a pair of black nylon stockings and fishnet stockings, she poured over the two choices before her. After a few minutes, she placed the fishnet stockings back into the box and proceeded to change into the outfit she had picked out.

Once she was dressed and ready to go, Miku made sure she had everything she needed and exited her room. At the front entrance, she slipped on her high-heels and fixed up her hair in her small compact mirror. Stepping outside, the sun was starting to peak just over the horizon. She could see a small group of students heading from the dorm gates. The students all wore the same school uniform consisting of a white button-up dress shirt, rose-red plaid skirt and matching tie. While the school uniform was nostalgic and something Miku remembered well from her time in high-school, she could see that students wore their hair in various styles, including different shoes and socks. Any other school would send a student home or suspend them for breaking the rules, here students are able to expression themselves within reason. I wish my school had been like this, Miku thought as she headed for the train station. As she walked down the pathway, she could hear the conversations of different groups of students.

“Did you hear about what happened Saturday night?” one guy asked.

“No, what happened?” a girl asked.

“Well, I heard from a friend that Marina Kusanagi was seen entering the old buildings. He waited for hours in hopes of asking her out but when she went in, she never came out. After waiting for several hours, he returned to his dorm and debated on telling people until he noticed something outside his window. Three shadowy figures stood outside his window and he didn’t sleep all night.”

“Yeah, I call bullshit. Marina is clearly still alive because I saw her leaving her dorm early this morning on my morning jog.”

“Hey, I’m just reporting what my friend told me.”

Interesting, I guess even here rumours will creep up and start among students, Miku thought as she made her way up the stairs to the train platform. While riding the train, she could hear various conversations from different groups of students to the point it was impossible for her to tell what any of the conversations were about. Once the train had finally stopped at its destination, Miku exited and headed for her front entrance. Now that I think about it, I need to get that maid-loving principal to give me an identification card so I can walk freely around the dorms and rest of the campus, she thought as she removed her shoes and replaced them with the slippers.

“I forgot this is a different school. Oh well, I’ll just place my shoes in one of the lockers. Not like anyone will actually steal a girl’s shoes.”

“Actually, you would be surprised,” a girl’s voice said from behind.

Miku turned around to see a girl with long blond hair – a single blue streak making her standout. Although she was dressed in a school uniform, she had pink coloured hoodie tied around her waist and her skirt had been shorten slightly similar to fashion style that was popular with many of the youth. Her black over-the-knee socks and skater shoes in a black & white colour scheme reminded Miku of a friend she once had who dressed in the same style of fashion.

“Pardon?” Miku asked as with a puzzled expression.

The girl giggled and smiled cheerfully while her hazel coloured eyes sparked like the stars in the night sky, drawing Miku in like the event horizon of a black hole.

“About the shoes. There are documented cases of people who have stolen girl’s shoes from shoe lockers. You see, there are about forty percent of people in this world that have a foot fetish and a fair number of them are men. Therefore, they will often steal a girl’s shoes or socks and enjoy themselves.”

Who the hell is this student? Also, why is she randomly talking to me about men and foot fetishes? I’m starting to question if this academy is truly number one as stated. Maybe it’s a mistake and it is just number one in being weird, Miku thought as she started to turn out the girl.

“…And so, in conclusion, it is better to simply wear your shoes than to engage in the out-dated tradition of removing your shoes and placing them in a shoe locker.”

Oh, it looks like she is done talking. I’ll just nod and agree, Miku thought as she smiled cheerfully.

“Huh. I see. That’s quite interesting.”

The girl smiled as her eyes lit up like a child at a candy store.

“Yes! Oh, I just realised I haven’t introduced myself. I’m Yuri Ashizaki. You must be a new teacher because I don’t remember you.”

“That’s pretty impressive if you can remember the students and teachers here. My name is Miku Ichigya and it is as you say, I’m a new teacher here. I just started today.”

Yuri covered her mouth as her cheeks flushed a bright red.

“I’m so sorry! You must think I’m weird for randomly coming up to you and talking about such a topic.”

Sweetie, you have no idea how weird you are, Miku thought as she faked a smile.

“No, no, you’re fine. I just was surprised. Not everyday a student randomly walks up to a teacher and talk about foot fetishes, you know?”

Before Yuri could speak, another girl appeared beside her.

“Yuri, hey. Did you get my text?”

“Oh hey, Ruine. Yeah, I did.”

“Okay, well, you kids have fun. I need to see the head maid about getting my identification card that she forgot to give me.”

Miku made her way up the stairwell until she reached the third floor and knocked on the principal’s door. For a moment, there was no reply. Maybe I need to knock louder, Miku thought as she knocked a bit louder. Again, no reply. Opening the door anyway, Miku noticed Kanami standing in front of her desk with a smile on her face.

“Welcome home, princess.”

“Did you stand there the whole time just to do that?”

“I did indeed. I’m guessing you’re here for your card,” Kanami said as she sat back down in here chair.

Kanami propped her feet on her desk and leaned back in her chair. She pulled out a small white card from between her breast and placed it on her desk.

“Here you go.”

“Why am I not surprised you had my card there the whole time and just forgot on purpose,” Miku said with a slightly annoyed tone in her voice.

With a giggle, Kanami pulled out her pack of cigarettes and lit up a smoke. Miku quickly grabbed her card and headed for the exit.

“If I have to come back here for anything else you forgot to give me, I will make you be the maid you are and serve me.”

“I’m happy to serve you, Mikuri,” Kanami joked as she blew a puff of smoke.

Exiting the office, Miku made her way down the hallway and into classroom 3B. As she opened the door, she was surprised to see her students all sitting down at their desks, aside from Nerina who was standing over Sakura’s desk and chatting away with friendly causal chatter. Unlike the causal wear that the students had worn, they were all dressed in their school uniforms – baring minor alterations and differences.

Tsuki wore her hair like she had before in a pair of twin-tails. Over her left eye was a black eyepatch that hid her red eye with a black fingerless glove on her right hand while the military watch remained on her left wrist. She wore two different stripped socks, her left sock drew up over her knee while the right sock stopped just above her ankle in a black and pink colour scheme. A pair of converse with a white and pink colour scheme complemented her outfit. Around her neck was a necklace bearing a bullet around it that showed clearly as the sun highlighted it like a photo shoot.

Sakura wore her school cardigan tied around her waist like many of the popular girls seen in various anime. Like those characters in anime, she shortened her school skirt to show off more thigh-gap. Her white socks drew up just below her knees while her shoes were a simple black pair of Mary Jane.

Nerina’s school uniform was the most unique of all the students. She had the left half of her shirt untucked and the sleeve extended to reach down to the wrist while the right side was tucked in with the sleeve being pulled up to her shoulder length. Her socks drew up just past her knees with the left one being white and the right one being black. Although she wore a pair of black combat boots, she had removed them and left them at her desk.

“Hey, teach! Glad to see you made it.”

“Mikuchi, fiu fiu~”

“G-Greetings… Miss Ichigya.”

“Hmph.”

Yup, this is different school, Miku thought as she stood up at the front of the class.

“Allow me to introduce myself once again to all of you. I’m Miku Ichigya, your home-room teacher.”

Placing her binder on the nearby podium, Miku opened it to the list of students and took roll call.

“So, Tsuki is here, Sora, Sakura and Nerina. Guess that leaves Renji Kurogame and Saya.”

“My brother won’t be here for a while. Same for Saya, fiu fiu~”

“I see. Guess I’ll mark them absent.”

After taking roll, Miku looked over the others sitting in different seats scattered about.

“Okay… so… uh… I actually have no idea what to do as your home-room teacher,” Miku said with a smile as she scratched the back of her head nervously.

Miku looked through her binder for anything she use to avoid a silent room. During her time in high-school the silence was something that always made her anxious during class. The sound of silence in a room of twenty to thirty people was an unsettling feeling that only stopped when the teacher would begin to write on the blackboard. As she continued to thumb through the loose-leaf paper, she noticed a page with a list of events on it.

“Right, don’t forget we have the annual culture festival in two months time. Any ideas what we will do as a class?” Miku asked with a smile.

Nerina quickly jumped atop her desk and shouted with a cheerful enthusiasm.

“We could do a maid cafe, fiu fiu~”

“That could be fun. I’d love to see Sora in a cute maid outfit,” Sakura said as she leered her eyes in Sora’s direction.

Sora cheeks flustered a soft shade of red as she averted her gaze. Her shy nature made her popular with both the boys and girls of the school. Yet, when anyone tried to ask her out, she would either run away and avoid the conflict or Sakura would step in to save her.

“Any objections to this?” Miku asked as she looked around the classroom.

No one spoke a word.

“Okay then, maid cafe it is. I’ll let the principal know and we can get to planning things during home-room.”

“I’m cool with that, teach.”

“S-Same…”

“Let’s do it, fiu fiu~”

“Whatever.”

Miku could only smile at the enthusiasm here students had as she recalled the first class she ever taught. She was only nineteen when she started her first teaching job and enjoyed her time with her students. Yet, after two years of faithful service to the school she found herself in a scandal which crippled her teaching career within only a few months. Here though, no one seemed to be aware or cared about what happened. It was the first time she actually felt happy despite what had happened.

As she closed her binder, the sound of the bell rang out through the school indicating the change of the class. Miku packed up everything she had and headed for her next class – classroom 3C. Entering into the classroom, Miku was met by the stares of teenage boys and girls. The room was silent as she started to feel the anxiety build up from within from her previous days of high-school when she would happen to show up late to class. While she made her way up to the front of the class, she noticed the girl she had met by the shoe-lockers. What was that girl’s name again? Yuri Ashizaki or something. I hope she doesn’t try to talk about anything weird during class, Miku thought as she placed her binder down on the nearby podium.

Each of the classrooms had a similar layout with simple white walls with linoleum flooring. At the front of the class was a blackboard with different colours of chalk and a wooden podium that teachers could use to place a textbook or notes on. Throughout the rooms were different posters that each of the home-room teachers placed throughout the room to liven up the atmosphere.

The room continued to remain silent as Miku looked at all the eyes that were on her. Well, this class isn’t going to teach itself, she thought as she took a second to breathe. Miku knew most classes on mathematics were boring and long in their lectures. They did not do a great job of engaging the students in their curriculum or Miku smiled as she asked the class a simple question.

“How many of you think you won’t use maths in your everyday life?”

Miku exited the classroom at the sound of the bell and sighed. I’m exhausted. I haven’t been on my feet like that since for years, Miku thought as she made her way down the hallway. Looking at her watch, she took note of the time and opened her binder to her schedule. She had home-room, first period teaching mathematics and lunch before she had her final period teaching science. While Miku had normally taught four periods, she was glad that Kanami had allowed her to only teach two periods until the end of the term.

“Hey Mikuri, how was your first day at teaching?”

At the sound of Kanami’s voice, Miku jumped slightly. How did she sneak up behind me without making a sound? Is she a ninja? Miku wondered as she tried to fake her smile.

“It went well, I was just about to head back to the dorms and prepare for tomorrow.”

“Care to join me in the staff lounge for lunch?” Kanami asked with a cheerful smile.

“I forgot to make lunch so I can’t, sorry.”

Kanami smiled and placed her arm around like a playful school girl.

“Don’t worry about it, I can pay for your lunch.”

Without having a chance to say anything, Kanami grabbed Miku’s hand and dragged her down the hallway. While turning a corner, the two of them continued until they stopped at a door. On the door was a silver name plate etched with the words ‘staff lounge’ on it. Kanami opened the door to reveal a luxurious room that reminded Miku of the train interior. Unlike the train, the interior of the staff room was a vibrant shade of red that resembled a grand dinning room of a mansion.

Inside sat a large rosewood table draped with an elaborate white cotton tablecloth. Off to the side was small counter space that held a built-in sink and a small refrigerator. Facing the opposite wall was a vending machine that had various buttons on it indicating different types of food and drinks. Alongside the vending machine was an espresso machine for brewing different blends of coffee.

“So, what do you feel like eating?” Kanami asked as she made her way over to the vending machine.

Kanami inserted her card into the nearby slot and navigated the on-screen menu to a list of food items. Miku looked over the choices, surprised by what the machine was able to offer.

“There is no way a machine like this can offer this kind of food.”

“Did you forget this is Moonlight Academy? We have the best in the world,” Kanami said as she pressed a button.

Within a few seconds, Kanami opened a small door to reveal a warm cup of ramen. Handing over a nearby pair of chopsticks, Kanami sat down at the table while Miku took a sit opposite of her. Taking a bite of the ramen, Miku was surprised to learn that it was flavourful and of high-quality.

“So, what do you think?” Kanami asked in a cheerful tone.

“I’m impressed that a machine like that exists. Where can I get one?”

“Well, you can’t unless you have… a lot of money. I mean, I always could be persuaded to have one delivered to your room if you give me your body,” Kanami giggled with a cute wink.

“As a maid, isn’t it supposed to be the other way around?” Miku asked nonchalantly as she ate her noodles.

Kanami giggled as she rested her chin against the palm of her hand.

“Anyway, feel free to stop by here anytime to eat. Your card holds not just your information and status but also acts as a credit card.”

“So, I can put my money on it?”

“Well, technically yes. Your card has what we call Academic Points. Think of it as a currency that only works here at this school. If it’s here at this school or on the school website, you can buy it with those points.”

“This school has a website?”

“It has two. One is the main website that is open to the public; the other is a school store where students and teachers can buy anything they wish and have it delivered to their dorm.”

“What’s next, you going to tell me this school as its own shipping service too?” Miku asked as she finished off the last of her noodles.

“It does actually. We call it, Daylight Express.”

“Why am I not surprised.”

After Kanami explained how to access the account that she had created for Miku to use, she showed her around the rest of the school.

“I got a question for you,” Miku asked as she looked over to Kanami.

The two of them had made their way down a path that branched off into a nearby forest filled with luscious trees. Unlike the main pathways that appeared clean and trimmed properly, the area was messy and unkempt with overgrown grass and branches. Only the small dirt path showed signs of being taken care of at the bare minimum to be used.

“What is it?”

“You hear of a rumour going around about a student disappearing?”

“Ah, yes. I believe you are referring to Marina Kusanagi who was said to have gone to the old buildings and didn’t return.”

“Yeah, that was the one. Guess rumours spread fast here.”

“There are quite a bit of rumours surrounding this school. Students like to make up grand stories to keep themselves entertained. I assure you, most are not true or if they are they are gravely over-exaggerated.”

After a few minutes, Miku noticed a chain-link fence gate. A yellow sign with black bold lettering stated clearly to all students that they should not enter under any circumstances. The gate was held shut by a simple padlock and chain, further discouraging students from entering beyond the gate.

“This is the where the old buildings are located,” Kanami said as she pulled out a small silver key from between her cleavage.

Inserting the key into the hole and turning it slowly, Kanami unlocked the wonders behind the gate. Miku followed by Kanami’s side and took note of what she was seeing. Old, run-down buildings that had seen better days. Some were large with blown out windows, while others were small and covered with thick grass and vines. Other objects nearby the buildings mostly appeared rusted to the point they were useless and nothing more than junk.

“Is it just me or does it seem like the buildings here resemble what used to be a military base?” Miku asked.

“You would be correct. This was once a military base years ago during World War I. It was quickly abandoned though and soon forgotten until my great-great grandfather turned it into what it is now, one of the top-ranking schools in the world.”

Kanami was silent for a moment as she stared at one of the buildings, lost in her own thoughts.

“Anyway, if you hear any more rumours, they are likely false or just simple bits of misinformation. The students will do that.”

“Noted.”

Miku looked at the time on her wristwatch and realised it was getting later than she had thought.

“I should be getting back to the dorms. Time seems to go by so fast here.”

“It is a big campus. Sorry for keeping you so late. Also, let me give you my cell number if you ever need anything,” Kanami said as she pulled out a marker that was somehow tucked between her cleavage.

Without warning, Kanami grabbed Miku’s arm and quickly wrote her number down with elegant handwriting.

“You do realise I could have just saved your number in my phone, right?”

“But this is more fun though. Come on, admit it, you feel like a school girl again, don’t you?”

“If you’re going to confess your love to me, boss, I’m going to need a fair amount of money.”

Kanami giggled as she slid the marker down between her breast.

“Such a tease. Well, we should get going. I’ll check up on you again later in the week, Mikuri.”

Reaching the dorms by evening hour, Miku entered her room and removed her shoes before falling onto the bed. She was exhausted and wanted to close her eyes. The land of dreams was calling her name but she knew she needed to prepare her next lesson for tomorrow. Getting out of the comfort of her bed, she made her way to her desk and started to plan out what she would cover for her classes – not just in her two academics classes but during home-room as well.

The hours passed until Miku had finished planning out her classes and was ready to pass out from exhaustion. Looking at the clock on the wall, she could see that it was getting late. I need to pee but I’m just too tired. I’ll get some sleep and take care of it later, Miku thought as she made her way over to her bed. Without bothering to change into any sleepwear, she removed her clothes and simply slept in her underwear. Like a light, she closed her eyes as she fell onto her bed and drifted off into the world of dreams. Hours ticked by until Miku finally awoke with a full bladder. Her body felt as if it was on the verge of an explosion. Rushing to exit her room, Miku made her way down hall with haste to the bathroom on the first floor. Each dorm had two bathrooms, one on the first floor and the other on the second floor. While the bathroom on the second consisted of just a sink and toilet, the one on the first was a full bathroom which contained a toilet, sink, bath tub and shower. At least if I wet myself I can clean up with a fresh change of clothes, Miku thought as she threw open the door without thinking to knock first. Upon opening the door, Miku felt something grab her by the wrist. Within mere seconds, she found herself thrown to the ground with a pistol pointed to her head and her bladder relieving itself without warning – ameliorating the pressure she had been feeling between her thighs.
