Making connections

Long He stared at Lan Du, then back at Yuan Min before laughing. His eyes filled with contempt but he soon covered it with a smile.

"You're quite the protective father, but I respect your strength so I will not argue with you, if you ever consider marriage however, my son is always up" He smiled and said

But as he spoke, his son, Long Quan walked over and stared at Lan Du with a complicated look, he then turned to his father and complained.

"Father, I don't wish to be married to a trans like her, she looks like a guy!" He shouted as he complained

Lan Du however didn't seem to get angry

"It's good that you think I look like a guy, after all, I share the same thoughts with you, a brat who can't do anything but complain to his father, I don't want to be married to a sissy either" Lan Du chuckled, she didn't wear a resentful look, but Long Quan could tell she was cursing at him.

Hearing this, Long He's brows furrowed as he stared at his son. Strangely, he felt that Lan Du's words made sense, as a man who prioritises to making a strong family, he found Long He's complaints childish and weak.

"She's right, Long Quan, if you complain like this, even I will feel embarrassed" He said sternly

Yuan Min's pupils shrunk, in one sentence, Lan Du had turned Long He's train of thought around, he now even feels hesitant to marry his son off like this! He smiled and felt proud that his daughter was so smart.

Yuan Cai found it funny so he joined in as well

"Yes, Long Quan, since young you have never been able to beat me, now, you even want my sister? Keep dreaming"

Lan Du bowed lightly to Long He and chuckled

"I apologise for my words, but I will not marry your son, after all, I have high expectations for my partner, someone as weak willed as him isn't fit" She shook her head and sighed

Long He now completely agreed with her, he nodded his head and smack the back of Long Quan's head.

"Hear that? You brat, when we go back, I'm going to discipline you again" He said and dragged Long Quan back elsewhere.

Lan Du looked around and saw food on the table, she got herself a plate and picked up a small plate of food. It wasn't much but it was enough to prevent her from getting hungry.

But before she ate, she naturally poked it with a silver needle, after checking properly did she finally start eating elegantly.

As she ate, for some reason, many daughters of the officers walked up to her to introduce themselves, they blushed shyly before leaving with a red face. Lan Du was quite confused, did their fathers send them or did they come on their own free will?

Because either way, it was strange, since she was introduced as a girl, not a boy. She removed her cap and tucked it into her jacket's inner pocket.

She then took off the jacket and tied it around her waist with the long sleeves. Beneath was a shirt that revealed her smooth skin and slender arms.

A young man walked up to her

"Pfft, are you really a girl? Looking at your flat chest, you must have dressed like this so you won't be embarrassed by that size right?" He mocked her with a sneer on his face.

Lan Du's eyes remained indifferent

"No, I dressed like this so self entitled twerps like you won't bother me for marriage" Lan Du replied as she pointed the fork at him.

The young man felt insulted, his anger flared as he slapped her plate away.

"You're tired of living, aren't you? Just because your father is the colonel, so what? So if my father, and you're just a useless girl, what gave you the guts to talk to me like that, huh?" He snapped at her and roared

His shout caused many to turn to them, Yuan Min was especially concerned.

'She won't kill him, right?'

But Lan Du's expression still remained calm, she sighed and stared at the young man.

"Kui Yuan, son of the colonel Kui Ge, at the age of 11, you hired a prostitute to your place but was caught by your father and beaten, at the age of 13, you harassed a young girl at your school but was viciously beaten by her boyfriend who ended up being the son of a Major General, at the age of 16, you slept with close to five different women and denied all relationship with them, at the age of-"

"Shut up!" Kui Yuan roared, he looked around and everyone was staring at him with a disdainful look.

"Lies, these are all lies you made up!" He shouted

Lan Du shrugged her shoulders

"I can continue if you want me to, that was only the tip of the iceberg, I saved some especially exciting things you did for last, like your cousin who now shuts herself inside her house, I wonder why" Lan Du rubbed her chin and wore a light smile.

Kui Yuan's face began sweating beads, it paled and his legs weakened. He turned his head and saw his father standing behind him with eyes fiercer than a tiger.

"F-Father, I-"

"Shut up, you have embarrassed me today!" He slapped him across the face and turned to Lan Du

"I apologise for my son's insolence, I will take him away right this instance" He said carefully, even he didn't know of some of these, yet Lan Du knew. If that was how it was, she might even have scandals of him as well.

Lan Du smiled

"Don't be so stiffed, I'm just a junior here, senior can relax and feel at ease" Lan Du giggled and said cutely, now that she removed her jacket, she seemed much more girl like.

Her slim body was revealed and even made her look prettier. Her face was already beautiful compared to others, now that she brought out parts of her charm, naturally, she was no longer treated like a boy.

But the colonel was still stiffer than wood

'With you around, how can I be relaxed? Who knows when you'll shatter my social image with a single sentence like you did with my useless son?'

But despite his thoughts, he just smiled and nodded

Yuan Min's lips twitched, why did she know so much? And why did he find this even scarier than when she chooses to be violent?

Long He now felt slightly relieved, he didn't decide to bicker with her and offend her much, otherwise, his son might be ruined by just a few sentences as well.

Now, no one approached Lan Du, she just stood there alone and wherever she went, the crowd would shift away from her.

After she finished eating, Lan Du wiped her mouth and a serious look appeared in her eyes. Her first target was the man standing with his daughter near the balcony. She walked over with a casual smile on her face as she took out a card.

"Hello, I'm Lan Yu, daughter of Colonel Yuan Min, you must be Colonel Shui, it is a pleasure to meet you" Lan Du bowed slightly and spoke.

Colonel Shui lifted a brow, he saw what she did to Kui Yuan so he naturally had his guard up against her.

"And this fairy like girl must be your daughter, Shui Yin, a beautiful name for a beautiful person, you must take a lot from your father, your presence is like his, dominant and powerful" Lan Du said respectfully

Colonel Shui's eyes lit up at her complements

"You have good eyes, tell me, what is your reason for seeing me?" He asked, his impression on Lan Du instantly went up.

Lan Du chuckled and passed the card in her hand over

"I am Lan Yu, before I go to the main army, I am still a mercenary, so forgive me for my lack of mannerism, but I would like to make acquaintances with you, after all, it's better to make friends than enemies" Lan Du smiled vibrantly, making Shui Yin's heart start pounding faster.

Colonel Shui didn't think too much about the card, he accepted it as a gesture of good will, however, when he read it, he was shocked. A dragon ranked mercenary!

He stared at Lan Du in disbelief, he then laughed

"Yes, it is indeed better to make friends, if you need help, call me up, my eldest son is currently in the main island so if you need help there, my son will step up for you" He passed the card back and also gave her his military card, which showed his rank as a colonel. He had Lan Du keep the card so it proves that she had a connection with him.

Being a dragon rank at such a young age, Colonel Shui's opinion on Lan Du shot up.

He noticed that Lan Du was also actually very pretty, it was just that she dressed like a man, so if his son and Lan Du could get together...his thoughts went wild as he chuckled in his heart.

Lan Du then glanced at Shui Yin and held out one hand

"Would this fairy honour me with a dance?" She asked, she saw many other sons and daughters dancing with one another, so she assumed it was a gesture of good will.

Shui Yin glanced at her father who was shocked by Lan Du's words. But he rubbed his chin and thought for a moment.

'Maybe she dressed like a man because she is into the same gender, my daughter getting along with her won't be too bad anyway' He nodded his head and pushed Shui Yin forward.

"Go ahead, my daughter is more than willing"

Shui Yin stared at her father in deep shock, did she just get sold by her old man? But when she saw the heavenly look on Lan Du's face, she agreed. She held Lan Du's hand and the two of them stepped onto the dance floor where Lan Du danced elegantly with her.

Her actions caught a lot of attention, one was due to her being a girl, so some criticised her for that, but the other which was also the majority was her beautiful dancing techniques. She embedded emotions into her every step, making her dance seem like a play.

Some were in a deep trance as they stared dumbly at Lan Du's movements.

When they stopped, Shui Yin was slightly regretful that it ended so soon, but she reluctantly parted with Lan Du after the dance. Lan Du waved her hand and walked over to her next target.

She walked over to the pair next to the fountain at the centre of the building. The two colonels were talking with one another happily, they seemed to be on very good terms and easy to get along with. Lan Du picked them as if she could win one over, the other will naturally follow.

It was a buy one, get one free bargain!

When the two saw her approach them, they smiled, they saw he dance and was also entranced by it so their opinions on her weren't bad. But the fact that she was a girl still made them keep their distances as she approached.

"Greetings, you two must be the famed duo, the Sky and Earth colonels, Colonel Tian and Colonel Di, I have heard many stories from my father about you, the two of you have one of the highest conquer rates for planets and are also the ones who took down our current number 5 resource planet, I'm honoured to meet the two of you" Lan Du said in a respectful tone, she was especially careful with her words and took their expressions into account.

Her words amde their interest in her rise, they gave her more attention and didn't completely reject her meeting with them.

"What may we, the duo, do for you, young lady" They returned with a respectful nod, signifying that they will listen to her.

Lan Du smiled

"I am Lan Yu, you should have heard when my father was talking earlier, truth be told, I wanted to make a connection with you two so I wouldn't have too much trouble when I arrive in the main island, of course, I won't pester you if you don't wish to" Lan Du spoke, she knew when to back off in her speech and when she should continue with her plans.

Colone Di and COlonel Tian stared at her

"But what can we get out of this? You should know who we are very well, we don't make connections easily" Colonel Di said with a light frown, he has seen many like her, trying to form connections with them so she can have an easier life.

Lan Du smiled

"I can kill for you" She said with a serious gave, her smile was slightly off but it gave people the chills when they stared at it for a long period of time.

"Pfft, kill? Why would we need you to kill for us?" Colonel Tian snickered

Lan Du took out a small notebook, it was the size of her palm but was very packed, she opened it up and read slowly.

"Military order section 3, number 47, officers are not allowed to harm citizens or other officers without permission, even if they have a personal grudge,section 1, number 12, officers are not allowed to use their subordinates of lower rank to kill for personal reasons"

Lan Du closed the book and smiled

"Colonel Tian, you son was harmed by a Major General's son, but you cannot harm him, hiring assassins will also be caught easily, but I'm different, I will soon go to the main island and I can take revenge for your son" Lan Du smiled and said

Colonel Tian and Colonel Di's expression both changed drastically, they didn't expect Lan Du to know so much about the military orders. Colonel Tian has always been agrieved by his son's injuries, but he couldn't do anything about it.

But he didn't trust Lan Du

"You're just a lass, what can you do to a Major General's son? Offending him would be worse than offending us, why would you take this risk even if you have the strength?" Colonel Di replied

Lan Du chuckled

"Because Colonels are easier to assess, your nature is much easier to evaluate than that of a Major general who always hides behind a facade, as a Colonel, you don't have the same worries that a Major General would have"

"Moreover, even if I offend a Major General, he cannot do anything, section 5, number 16, a Major General or above are not allowed to cause any harm to a trainee of the main island, if caught, their title will be stripped immediately and punished by the orders" Lan Du replied with a detailed explanation.

Colonel Di and Tian both were pleasantly surprised, but there was one last thing they couldn't trust.

"Your strength, do you think you can defeat a person who even my son was no match for?" Colonel Tian questioned

Lan Du gave them a sweet smile

"So, as long as I have the strength, you will agree to support me?"

The two nodded

Lan Du took out the same card she used for earlier, it was her mercenary card that has some of her details about her ranking.

"Dragon rank? Impressive, but that isn't entirely enough, after all, you will face many Royal Spirits when you enter the main island, being a dragon rank only proves your skills, but strength is also needed" Colonel Di shook his head and said.

Their requirements were very high, though, even if Lan Du didn't have high spiritual strength, they would accept her, after all, being a dragon ranked now meant she had plenty of room to grow. If she can't beat the one who harmed his son now, she could do it in the future.

Lan Du rubbed her chin

"That's tough, Royal Spirits aren't easy to deal with ineed" Lan Du's eyes flashed with disappointment as she sighed

"I'm sorry, it seems I cannot meet your requirements"

Her words made them smile, if she had said she could handle it, they might have rejected her for being overly arrogant. But she was truthful and didn't hide her lack of strength to them.

"Good lad, you have our temporary support, in the future,if you do take revenge for my son, I will give you my full support" Colonel Tian said as he passed a card over to Lan Du.

Seeing his friend do it, Colonel Di also did the same and passed her his card.

"You better not lose it, we won't give you another" He said with a smile

Lan Du nodded

"Thank you colonels for your support, this junior will treasure the cards" She said respectfully and bowed to them one last time before feeling content with what she had done thus far.
