Chapter 2:

Clueless to Love, Part 2

As Clueless As Can Be

“Ayuri wanted to hold your hand, because she liked you.”

“Liked me? She didn’t need help going up the stairs with her baby legs?”

“No, and you had baby legs as well,” Jin pinched the bridge of his nose.

“We don’t talk about my baby legs,” I said embarrassingly.

The cashier stopped laughing and started listening intently to our conversation.

“Misaki also left a love letter in your locker, not a declaration of war.”

“That was a love letter? Then why didn’t she just give it to me herself?”

“How could someone in love give it to someone who doesn’t even know what love is?” Jin responded annoyingly.

“They do say that the chances of a confession succeeding depends on your setting, so her option to confess behind the back of the school was perfect,” I rubbed my chin, deep in thought.

The cashier put her palm to her face after listening to the remark that I just made.

“Then why didn’t you go?!” Jin answered annoyingly. “And finally, Touka gave you chocolates on Valentine’s Day, because she liked you and was expecting something back on White Day.”

“So, you’re telling me that it wasn’t her birthday? I gave her balloons on March 15th to make up for not telling her happy birthday,” I scratched my head.

The cashier at this point was just gazing in awe. I’m not sure if it was because of our conversation, or if she found Jin to be attractive. Jin turned to her while I looked at the different shirts that they had on display. I wonder if people actually buy these shirts. “Go Team, Go!” was on one of the shirts, and it made it sound like we were rooting for a soccer team.

“Real idiot, isn’t he?” Jin gave his card to pay for his CDs along with a membership card.

“Definitely,” she chuckled.

“You’re new here, aren’t you?” Jin asked.

“First day, actually,” she smiled. “Nothing less from someone who has a platinum membership with our store.”

“Well, I do come here often to enjoy music and any other scenery the place has to offer,” Jin smiled back. “I’m Jin.”

“Rimi,” she said. “You’re clearly different from your friend there, aren’t you?”

“Hey Jin!” I exclaimed. “How do I look?”

I put a shirt on that said “Fight on!” and made a menacing face. There were little kids that came up to me, and I started stomping the ground and grunting loudly. They started laughing and joining me until another cashier told us to quiet down. I high fived all of them before they left.

“Well, he’s better than me in more ways than you can imagine,” Jin chuckled.

“He’s definitely a character,” Rimi gave his membership card back. “Hope you come back soon.”

“Like I said, I like to enjoy the scenery too,” Jin smiled as he called me over to go.

As we headed out, I took another look at the cashier and realized that she was pretty. She had long, black hair and light skin. She didn’t have lipstick on, but her lips looked bright red. She was petite, but I looked at her from the front again and realized not everything was petite.

“What’s wrong with you?” Jin asked as he saw my bewildered face.

“I think both of you kicked it off well,” I whispered to Jin while we were both walking out of the store. “Let me know if you need my help.”

“So, you can tell that, but you can’t tell when other girls like you?” Jin mumbled. “Well, you do have those bright moments sometimes, so you’re bound to find someone who will change you.”

A loud beeping noise could be heard, and I saw Jin instantly turn to look at me.

“Why do you still have that shirt on?!” he yelled as I rushed back to put the shirt back on the rack.

Fight on!
