Chapter 12 Going Berserk

Upon hearing that the girl had survived, Derrick and Jacob were filled with excitement and hope that she might develop powers from the werewolf attack. They quickly raced to her side. However, upon arriving, they were met with a gruesome sight. Alex was lying on the ground, covered in a pool of his own blood with a deep cut on his neck. He was holding a crystal in his hand.

 Suzuka was lying several meters away from him, on her back, shivering and shaking in pain while showing barely any sign of consciousness. Her arm and leg were twisted in an unnatural direction. Her shoulder joint, where the beast bit her, was dislocated and her other hand was difficult to look at. Her skin had changed color from white to sun-kissed, her hair turned black, her eyes became bloodshot, and blood began to come out of her mouth and gums as she spat blood.

 As her teeth began to bleed, the werewolf's bite wound on her left side started to open and broken fangs popped out, squirting blood from the holes they had made. Her blood on the wound began to bubble as if it was boiling. Suzuka grew a few inches taller, her muscles bulged and her dislocated shoulder popped back into its socket. Her nails grew pointy, thick, and sharp. 

Upon seeing her transformation, Derrick told Jacob, "It's unfortunate. Despite everything, I still held out hope for her. I may not be a big city doctor, but even I can tell she's suffering from werewolf poison. The swelling is so severe, she even looks bigger. I can only imagine the pain she must be in. With this poison, she'll feel every moment of it. All we can do now is put her out of her misery, but hey, I'm not doing that."

Jacob come close to Suzuka, crouched down to her, and told Derrick, "Yeah, all I can do now... I can end her suffering, at least! Sorry, Antonio, looks like I can't save her... but at least I can end her pain. Derrick! Give me one of Alex's swords, it's right over there."

"Just think about what I lost today! Everything! Just think about what I could have done with her, Jacob! I could have done so many good things. Good things I'm telling you!"

"Oh yeah! And what's that ma man Derrick! Ah?! What would you have done more than this? Look at her, and burn this image to your eyes... this is your doing. Because of you, this innocent girl gonna die. All my men are dead! You son of a..."

"What's the matter, Jacob? Showing feelings like that toward a test subject? And here I thought you don't care as long as you get paid. But yeah, sorry for your men."

"Whatever! If this doesn't even make you feel sorry for her, I don't want to imagine what you had in store for her at MIS?!"

Derrick's face lights up as if he had a pleasant dream and he started to chatter, "Oh! We would have had so much fun with her, good data from her! Like, how much stronger she got, putting her in between hydraulic press or burning her limbs and see how fast they regenerate... oh! How exciting that would have been! I even prepared lots of tools to dissect her body while she was alive. Over and over again... so much fun will be missed."

"Disgusting! Is everyone in MIS a sadistic bastard like you? Or is it just you who's cut above the rest?"

"Thirsty for knowledge! Not sadistic you insignificant fool!"

"Get me the goddamn sword, Derrick! Before I decide to kill you too!"

Derrick went to get a sward while Jacob stayed at her side but he took his sweet time to get it. Suzuka stopped shivering and shaking, closed her eyes, and lost consciousness completely. Derrick finally brought him the sword and Jacob told him, "You sure took your damn time there! What the hell man!"

Derrick got an annoyed look on his face and told Jacob, "She's just one more of my mistakes that you need to correct, Jacob... So who cares! Just kill this failed experiment already! I'm not in the mood to dirty my hand on failure like this, here's your sword! Be done with it and let's go!"

Jacob took the sword from Derrick, kneeled on one knee, held the sword above her heart, raised it high, and was about to strike the girl down, when suddenly her broken and twisted arm snapped back into place, blocking the sword tip by piercing her palm. Then her broken leg followed suit. Jacob was surprised and stopped in place when the girl shouted and blood spilled from her mouth. "Kill you!... All!... AAAHHHH!"

With all her might, she used her other hand to strike Jacob in the chest with her palm, piercing his jacket, skin, and flesh with her fingers and grabbing hold of his chest bone. Then, with a strong grip, she crushed Jacob's chest bone and ripped it out of his chest, taking some ribs with it, leaving his chest open, with damaged and punctured lungs, and a visible heart. Jacob fell to the ground, facing the sky, writhing in pain and shock. His lungs began to fill with blood, drowning him. Derrick looked at what she had done to Jacob, grabbed his face with both hands and screamed out of fear.

"Oh!... My!... God!"

He just turned around and began to run while screaming in fear, "This time Jacob is dead for good! There is no one to save me now!"

As Derrick ran for his life, a four-wheeler came into his sight and without hesitation, he ran towards it. Suzuka, who was lying on the ground, went berserk due to the painful changes in her body and was triggered by Derrick's panicked scream. As he was running away, Derrick turned his head back to see what was happening and saw a girl standing with a shadow on her face, her eyes glowing red and looking at him menacingly. Derrick had reached halfway to the wheeler when he saw the girl staring at him with a menacing gaze and he started shouting to himself.

"What's going on? Did she get powers from the werewolf?! Wasn't she about to die just now? This makes no sense..."

At that moment he realized he got set up by that man who tipped him on how one gets werewolf power.

"I get it now! It all makes sense now! He wanted me out of the picture! That bastard!"

As Jacob lay dying, he mustered the last of his strength and stabbed Suzuka with Alex's sword, which he was still holding in his hand. He hit her side below the rib cage, but without breaking her menacing gaze at Derrick, she pulled out the sword's tip from her side, cutting her skin and flesh. 

All Jacob's attack did was inflict a flesh wound that splashed some blood on Jacob's torn open chest, while the blood on her cut began to bubble and the cut healed instantly. Suzuka let go of the sword she was holding when she took it from Jacob after he stabbed her and threw it on the ground. As the sword hit the ground, she leaned forward and lunged towards Derrick, who was almost at the four-wheeler.

 Jacob tried to say something, but his lungs filled with blood preventing him from speaking. After a few seconds, life disappeared from his eyes, and he closed them. Blood flowed out of his open mouth, while Suzuka's blood bubbled inside Jacob's torn open chest. 

With a few powerful leaps, Suzuka caught up to Derrick, with only a few meters left for him to get on the wheeler. Derrick began to shout in anger.

"NOOO! I can't die here! Not today!... Goddamit! Not today! There is so much for me to do. Not before I got my revenge! To that bastard who's responsible for all this mess."

Suzuka approached Derrick as he shouted in anger, and with a swift move, she struck him from behind. She formed her hand into a claw-like shape, using her strong and sharp nails to tear through Derrick's clothes. Her fingernails pierced his skin, and her fingers dug into his flesh and ribs. With all her strength, she created a hole the size of a palm on Derrick's right side. Derrick's last words were...

"I... was a fool... to believe him... let the Melwyn wrath befall you...you bastard, Br... ad... Ahhh."

As Derrick was speaking, he died from the injury inflicted by Suzuka. After all the fighting, she stood there for a minute, dazed and almost unconscious, before collapsing onto the ground in tall grass and falling into a deep sleep. Her heart rate slowed and her breathing became barely noticeable, and she fell into a coma. It was very dark, with only the stars in the sky providing light. The beast was impaled on three iron spikes, Derrick had a huge hole in his rib cage on the right side, Alex lay on the ground covered in his own blood, Kane's dead body was lodged in the heavily bent frame of a four-wheeler, Jacob lay on the ground with a wound on his chest, and Renold was impaled on a log that was stuck in a cracked rock. 

 It's going to be a long night for Suzuka.
