Chapter 262:

Adventurers Monsterpedia - Monsters

Content of the Magic Box

Monsterpedia is a book issued by the Hunters Guild that serves as a Wikipedia of monsters. It contains profiles of known threats, including information on the monsters, tricks, tips on how to defeat them, their difficulty level, and party recommendations. The difficulty of a monster is ranked by stars, with a higher number indicating a harder monster to deal with. The book has 300 profiles, divided into five categories: Monsters, Magical Beasts, Mutants, Dangerous Plants, and Legendary.

Mutants are humans, monsters, or wild animals that have been affected by corrupted magic.

Monsters

1. The first example is the Goblin. They are ranked as one-star difficulty and are described as green creatures that resemble small, skinny men. The height of full-grown Goblins varies from 50cm to 85cm. They make weapons for themselves or use anything they loot from their victims, such as sticks, rocks, or anything sharp they can lift. Goblins are weak individually, but they are strong in numbers. A minimum party of five adventurers is recommended for hunting Goblins.

Killing 20 Goblins earns the title "Goblin Hater" on the Hunter's Card.
Killing 50 Goblins earns the title "Goblin Stomper" on the Hunter's Card.
Killing 100 Goblins earns the title "The Goblin Killer." on the Hunter's Card.
Killing 1000 Goblins earns the title "The Goblin Slayer." on the Hunter's Card.

2. Gobliman, ranked at one-star difficulty, looks similar to a Goblin but is much larger. The full-grown height of Gobliman ranges from 95cm to 155cm. Unlike Goblins, Gobliman wears self-made or looted armor and weapons. The most common weapons include small knives, short swords, and bows. Some even have light armor made from wood or bones. Gobliman is individually weak but strong in numbers, and they often travel in groups with Goblins.

When taking on a Gobliman hunting quest, it is recommended to have a minimum of 5 adventurers in a party.

3. The Cuthona Slug is a one-star threat-level creature that measures 30cm in height and 100cm in length. Its body is covered in ocean blue soft scales with yellow stripes on its back. Though slow, it is deadly if approached.

Cuthona Slug attack by spitting acid and hunting sleeping prey by injecting poison through tentacles from their mouth. Once the victim is paralyzed, the slug wraps around the body, slowly melting and eating it.

These creatures are mostly found in waterfall caves, underwater caves, and around rivers with rocky terrain. Having a minimum of two adventurers in a party is recommended when undertaking a hunting quest for these slugs. It is also suggested to bring salt as it can be useful in the hunt.

Killing 15 Cuthona Slugs earns the title "Slug Stomper" on the Hunter's Card.
Killing 30 Cuthona Slugs earns the title "Salt Master" on the Hunter's Card.

4. Jelly Slime is a common type of slime found in the wild. Its threat level is rated at one-star. Unique to this type of slime is its ability to harden itself for protection. Slime growth is measured in liters, with the potential to grow from 1 liter to 250 liters. The Jelly Slime is relatively slow and not aggressive, choosing to hunt its prey at night while they sleep. It captures its victims by either entering their bodies and slowly eating them from the inside, or by engulfing them and drowning them.

Slime is highly resistant to physical damage but can be fought using ice, fire, or alcohol. It is recommended to have at least two party members when facing a Jelly Slime. A simple solution is to hit it with a torch.

Killing 30 Jelly Slimes earns the title "Jelly Killer" on the Hunter's Card.

5. The Red Slime is a two-star threat. This rare and dangerous slime can grow from 1 liter to 220 liters. It is faster and more aggressive than the Jelly Slime, hunting its prey both day and night. The Red Slime attacks those who approach it and has a unique melting effect that either enters the victim's body and eats them slowly from the inside or engulfs and slowly melts its prey. Physical trauma is ineffective against this slime, but ice, fire, and alcohol are highly effective. A party of three is recommended, as a simple torch will not be sufficient.

Killing 30 Red Slimes earns the title "Painted in Red" on the Hunter's Card.

6. The Green Slime is a formidable and dangerous creature, with a three-star threat level. Rare and more dangerous than Red Slime, it can grow from 1 liter to 260 liters and is faster and more aggressive than its red counterpart. Green Slime hunts its prey day and night and will attack anything that approaches it.

This slime is unique in that it is an acid slime, which can either enter its victim's body and eat it from the inside or engulf its prey and melt it in minutes. Due to its immunity to physical trauma, it is recommended that a party of five members engage it, and that ice, fire, and alcohol are used as weapons, as a torch and alcohol alone will not be effective.

Killing 30 Green Slimes earns the title "I like the way it burns" on the Hunter's Card.

7. The Ambush Spider is a two-star threat. It can grow up to 100cm in height and 120cm in length and is a master of disguise, covered in short grass and moss making it difficult to notice.
