Chapter 2:

Adventurers Guild

Thus, My Otherworldy Adventure Begins

- Kingdom of Regelia -

A few hours have passed already, the young man was shown around the huge town. It was getting dark out by then. This was the main capital. It has three entrances. The Kingdom was surrounded by walls, though they weren't exaggerated in height. The town itself was elevated and it got higher as it approached the Castle. The town was separated into three floors in height. The floors got smaller as it reached the top. There was hardly any green life as the majority was shops and many more interesting buildings. They even demonstrated the place where the young man would be staying.

The young man didn't expect it but the house was actually pretty decent and surprisingly it was located in a very commerical area. Which meant that he wouldn't have to travel far as he was already close to the places he would want to go. Such as the Adventurers guild.

"Well, we'll be leaving now. Here is the key to your housing along with the generous provision of currency that the Queen has left you. With that we will now part ways."

They handed him a small golden key and a small pouch which had around sixty golden coins. He did a slight wave as they headed off. All that was left to do was to register at the guild. It wasn't far, perhaps a few buildings from the house. On the way there he could tell people stared, it was probably due to his clothes as he was still wearing the school uniform. He could hear them whisper saying stuff along the lines  'He must be a Forgotten, just look at his clothes, strangely similar to those others'

With that he had to assume that he wasn't the only one that had been summoned to this world. He arrived at the guild and it was quite spacious. Walking up the small wooden stairs and made his way through the door. A few look towards his way as he enters but he ignored them, luckily what looked like the reception desk didn't have a line. He walked up and began speaking to the lady behind the desk. Her short reddish brown hair looked like it was well taken care of and the colorful blue eyes she had felt as I were staring at the sea itself.

"Excuse me, I came to register myself for the Adventures guild."

She nodded in return and took out a special piece of paper.

"May I see your ID first please."

He got worried a bit after she said that and a drop of sweat rolled down his cheek out of worry.

"Um...I don't...have one."

He quickly put his hands in front and shook them to give him time to explain the rest before she had the chance to say something.

"You see, I was accidentally summoned by the courtly Bishop that was appointed by the King to summon a hero, but a mistake was made and I was summoned instead. The Queen then gave me housing as an apology and told me to register at the adventurers guild. But, I didn't think I needed an ID of sorts..."

The young looking girl had a shocked expression on her right now.

"That explains your outfit, it seems you're one of the Forgotten..."

"I heard that on the way here, what exactly are the 'Forgotten'?"

He wanted to know what that really meant. She looked a bit hesitant to answer but then looked up to him and decided to speak.

"That's...what people from other worlds are called when they are brought here. Usually, they end up causing a lot of problems for the Kingdom but they do not all end up like that. You seem like the one that doesn't look bad. I guess I don't have a choice but to register you without one. What's your name? Actually just show me your status board."

She grabbed hold of the paper and grabbed what looked like an ink pen. For some reason it seems he already knew how to open up his status board. It then popped up in front of him and it was visible to her. Her eyes widened in shock again and the grip on the pen tightened.

"No...skills? It also indicates that you don't have any magical power and even yet your physical strength isn't that great. With all of this i'd basically be writing down your death sentence!"

She sighed a bit at the end of her claim.

"I humbly plead you nonetheless to register me, I don't want to be doing nothing while im living in this place."

"Ah sheesh, it looks like you really are dead serious on joining. I guess I really have no choice. Though, its a tough world out there. Whatever happens from here on its on you."

After she was done writing all his information the paper shone in a bright white light and once the light disappeared it turned into a black physical card, the outline was golden. Everything about my information was written there.

"Your beginning rank, E, is written on the card and it updates automatically once you reach the required amount of quests done or achievements you increase in rank. The highest rank being S, well, there is actually more but you won't end up learning about those this early on."

He put the card in his pocket for now. He wanted to ask her where he could go for quests.

"As for the quests, where do I look for them?"

She pointed to the right and there was a bulletin board with a bunch of papers pinned. He assumed those were the quests anyone would choose to take on.

"Over there, you can choose the quests there. Each one of them tells you the details of what you'll be doing and the requirements along with the difficulty. That being said, do NOT take on any quest higher than your ranking. It's not to be taken likely. Anyway, what's done is done, you may head home now. That was all you needed to register. I welcome you to the Adventurers Guild! By the way, my name is Est, one of the receptionists for the guild. It's a pleasure Kouki Tachi."

"Ahhh finally some alone time."

Kouki immediately jumped to bed head first and just layed down. Kouki had a lot to think about, a whole lot. He lift himself up a bit and moved to the edge of the bed and sat down as he looked out the window. Staring at the dazzling moon in the sky through the window, he still couldn't really process how he was summoned to a different world. Feeling like the characters from tons of fantasy books he read as he grew up and enjoyed. But in this...he was no hero. He was just...him, Kouki Tachi. An average high school student with really nothing to his name. At least he could have hope here and try to be someone.

Taking out the Affinity orb he looked at it once more as he wondered what would his weapon be. It's bright variety of colors made it look like a rainbow was trapped inside. He put it back in his pocket, which made him realize he had to buy equipment tomorrow because what he had now wasn't going to cut it. He decided to get some sleep as it was a long day and all these amounts of new experiences really tired him. He got under the blankets and closed his eyes. Trying not to think of anything and blanked his mind. Soon after everything turned black.
